According to Tim-Graw (2012), the social trend is evident throughout the world with more networking events and opportunities occurring weekly. Social trend involves top social networking platforms such as Facebook, MySpace, and other Internet networking sites. The list continues further with the creation of music apps, Spotify, Pandora, and these other networking sites will impact the industry by providing opportunity for growth. Whenever a new social media tool is created, a new opportunity is as well. New opportunity means an increase in jobs, expanding the pool of success to Full Sail graduates and other industry driven people. This trend will also be impactful to the industry by recognizing what’s new and hot on the market! New applications are being formed from web 2.0 tools allowing for users to run businesses with just one click away. It is important that we monitor this trend to see what exactly are the people are following. You have to know your target audiences wants and needs in order to satisfy them and become successful.
One example of a business monetizing from social trend is Rick Ross’s, Untouchable MayBach Music Group also known as MMG. “Maybach Music Group has climbed to the forefront of mainstream rap” (BET, 2013). In order to be great in this music industry, you have to be able to keep up with the trends of it. Though Rick Ross has a catalogue of 4 popular mainstream artists to his catalogue, it was very important for him to brand himself first before putting Meek Mill, Wale, Omarion, and French Montana on the map. “The newly-formed label is dominating airwaves and sweeping in millions of fans” (BET, 2013).
Another example of a business monetizing on social trend is Justin Beiber. “At the end of May 2012, Beiber made 55 millions dollars! Just Beiber has...

What Do You Say After You Say Hello? by, Eric Berne Book Review by Suresh a M,

...What Do You Say After You Say Hello? By, Eric Berne Book Review by Suresh A M, I semester, MBA, JSSCMS Eric Berne was a psychoanalyst who became well known in the 1970s for his system of "transactional analysis", the transactions in question being mostly those between a young child and its parents. He proposed various structures for this relationship based on the roles parent/adult/child that every person plays and presents life stories as scripts that can be good or bad. This book is considered by many to be Eric Berne's sequel to Games People Play. Although Berne published other books since Games People Play was released in 1964, most of those works were oriented towards those trained in psychotherapy and not towards the individuals who made Games People Play a two-year bestseller. The book is his last book completed just before his death in 1970. Berne's bad luck was that he wrote the book in 1970 when psychology was going through a bad patch with a flood of bizarre systems appearing. The good gets lost with the bad and transactional analysis now tends to be labeled as an outmoded California fashion related to Freudianism. In the preface he says that the book is "primarily intended as an advanced textbook of psychotherapy, and professionals of different backgrounds should have no difficulty in translating into their own dialects the short and simple annals of transactional analysis. No doubt some non-professionals will read it too, and for that reason I have tried to......

Reconstruction and the West

...Reconstruction and the West Anthony Webb College of Humanities His/120 Version 5 U.S. History 1865 to 1945 Resolution/Sociology 110 February 16, 2013 Elizabeth Jewell Reconstruction of the South According to Eric Foner (2008), “even though Reconstruction failed to meet the goals of Radical Republicans, painlessly rebuild the South, and give the freed blacks complete rights, Reconstruction did give African Americans some new chances and a brief taste of a free society ("Was Reconstruction a," 2008). Public schools were instituted; blacks became citizens, and some whites even offered support with the civil rights movement. However, every opportunity that was given to the free blacks was met with much opposition. As a result, more could have been done. The late 19th century was a troubling time, and although freed slaves were negatively impacted, Whites, and Indians were also affected by the economical hardships. Several events occurred which gave me cause to agree with Eric Foner’s description of the Reconstruction as a “splendid failure”. Blacks did not receive all their rights until 100 years after the war. Furthermore, Northern-born white men who moved south after the Confederacy defeat were called carpetbaggers by Southerners, and Southern-born white Republicans were given the name scalawag; Blacks held fewer governmental positions and was smaller than their proportion in the population; Indians suffered from the white Americans’ racism...

...Killing Them Softly Art is extremely hard to create if you are trying to tell something extremely specific to current times, people, and places, if you succeed and people seem to see the same vision, you have achieved something, if they find something you did not expect, you have achieved something greater. However Killing Them Softly does not reach the certain heights it set to, instead it lies somewhere near a heavy-beating message without any subtlety, yet it still manages to tell an interesting story with even more interesting characters, however they are never fleshed out enough for us to fully care and understand them. An intricate set up starts our film, a mobster knows about a high stake poker game run and played by members of the mob, and hires two men to rob the game. He knows someone within the mob who can easily be set up for the heist. After the game is robbed, the mob brings in enforcer type Jackie Cogan (Brad Pitt) to find and kill the guys who pulled off the heist. Now Killing Them Softly has a lot more going for it and it is apparent from the opening sequence, where an image of a man walking over derelict and broken down streets intersected with Obama speech cues promising for a new and better day. It’s apparent what Andrew Dominik (Chopper; Assassination of Jesse James…) is trying to get across, you see what he sees, you understand what he is trying to tell, yet he feels like he needs the idea to keep on running throughout the film, which often hurts......

Pets Should Be Treated Like Family Members.

...I know people that consider their pets a part of their families. I strongly agree with that stance towards the animals we have in our homes. For me, treating a pet like a family member is a good lesson in responsibility. In addition, this attitude makes the animals we possess feel happier, and guarantees their being satisfied with our care. We should treat pets like members of our families, because the animals that we take care of give us lessons in responsibility. One knows (YOU KNOW) that there is somebody but himself (APART FROM YOURSELF) to look after. Thus we learn how to look after our future families. In addition, pets teach us qualities like patience and understanding. People should consider his pet (THEIR PETS AS) a family member, as the animal they possess (OWN) will feel happier this way. Pets like cats and dogs are aware of the attitude their master has towards them. They feel better when they are paid more attention. Plus, (IN ADDITION) when you think of your cat as of some (ONE) of your relatives you will never dare to torture it. Pets should be granted (PAID THE ATTENTION) with the attention that we bestow to our families, and thus their health will be benefited (BENEFIT). One (YOU) will never dare to leave his (YOUR) dog hungry if he accepts it as a part of the home. Many people ignore the animals they have at home. However, pets need care, nutrition, and attention. I think that it is not right to buy a living being that will depend on you, and make......

San Diego Wild Animal Park

...Aside from the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park is the best place in San Diego to see animals. Over the spread of 1,800 acres, the animal park gives animals the room they need to roam and play. The animals here play just like they do in the wild, which almost makes you feel as if you are in their native of Africa and Asia. Throughout the 30 year history of the animal park, the Noah's Ark symbol of endangered species has grown to dozens upon dozens of animals. Now, every Arabian Oryx found in the wild is the descendant stock from the San Diego Wild Animal Park. In the park, there are many different paths you can take to visit the smaller animal exhibits. Although the smaller animals are a sight to see, the main thing to see is the hour long trip on the Bush Line Railway. Along the railway, you'll see animals that you'd never get the chance of seeing anywhere else, such as the white rhino and the rhinoceros. If you plan to visit the park in the summer, it's always a good idea to visit early. On a normal summer day, ten - fifteen thousand people will visit the park. During the winter, the ratio is down as normally 2,000 people will visit. Although it's much colder in the winter, the park is less frequent with people looking to see the animals the park offers. You can find the animal park 32 miles north of Escondido in San Diego. The park is in a peaceful area, which makes things a lot better for the animals that......

...In my life generally music plays very significant role - makes it colorful. I have always enjoyed listening to sounds which calm me down and maintain positive emotions. Although jazz music has never been my biggest interest, after I started learning about it in class I began to wonder about phenomena of Jazz. Surprisingly I found out it made me bobbin my head and feel warm inside. The performance I attended was at B.B King Blues Club and Grill located on near Times Square. This neighborhood means you will be battling with pretty big crowd but the place was generally pleasant and accommodating. The band played in a style of Ornette Coleman, known as one of the major innovators of the free jazz movement of the 1960’s. The band consisted four saxophones (2 altos, 1 tenor, 1 baritone) two trombones, three trumpets and instruments for setting rhythm. It was beautiful to see it life, all together, performing so professionally. The pieces were easy to listen to which was unexpected to me. The two songs that caught my attention were “Lonely woman” from 1959 and “Dancing in your head” from 1988. In the song “Lonely woman” I noticed many improvisations and solos. The beginning of the song reminded me of Brass Band’s funeral march from New Olean’s style. On the other hand, in the song “Dancing in your head” I noticed that instruments were not playing together, but they were improvising. I believe this style might be called ‘cool jazz’, which we were introduce to on our last......

Animal Testing

...Some people claim that everyday thousands of people are saved from painful diseases and death by powerful medical drugs and treatments . This incredible gift of medicine would not be possible without animal testing . Despite these overwhelming benefits , however , some individuals are calling for animal testing to be banned because of alleged cruelty. Those who are against the use of animal testing argue that it is inhumane to use animals in save human’s existence. However I completely disagree with such approach. It would be much more inhumane to test new drugs or some other medical elements on children or adults because all people are like big family and therefore people should not put their lives under risk. The second reason why I am in favour of animal testing is that the result of medical experiments are not often applicable to humans .this maybe partly true as some drugs have had to be withdrawn despite being tested on men , therefore as we simply do not have alternative methods of testing , because computer models are not so advanced enough and testing on plants is much less applicable to humans than test on animals such as monkeys . Unless we have a better system we have to use animal testing to provide human’s safety when scientist using drugs A further point often raised against animal testing is that it is cruel . some of the test certainly seem painful , but the great majority of people on this planet eat meat or......

...Persuasive Speech Outline Your Name: David Anthony Jones Moraes COMS 101 Section B05 Date Due: July 5th, 2013 Organization: Problem-Solution. Audience analysis: Christian ESL private school teachers in Brazil. Topic: I intend to address the problem of corruption in Brazil, paying special attention to its effect on education. Rhetorical Purpose: To inform my audience about corruption in Brazil, and to persuade them that the church in Brazil should pray for their country in response to this information. Redemptive Purpose: This social problem prevents people from experiencing life as God intended it to be because “God values government as an executor of His righteousness” (Alban, 2012., p. 75) and there is no righteousness in corruption. My proposed solution qualifies as redemptive according to the Alban text because it promotes the fact that “God values the church as an equipper of believers for doing God's redemptive work in the world” (Alban, 2012., p. 75). I. Attention-getter Quote by Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” II. Motive for Listening Mention the fact that they are privileged to teach at a good school, but most public schools in Brazil are in deplorable conditions. III. Animal Testing

...Why animal testing is good Intro: Have you ever heard of animal testing? Most people have and while it may seem like an unnecessary evil, I’m going to persuade you on why animal testing is good. Animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments, there is no alternative, it’s highly regulated and relatively few animals are used. 1. Animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments * Every medical breakthrough in the past century has been the result of animal testing * The life-saving insulin was discovered with dog testing * Polio vaccine, tested on animals lowered the occurrence from 350k in 1988 to 223 in 2012. * Other breakthroughs would be: cancers, MS, tuberculosis, and leukemia –instrumental in pacemaker development. * Chris Abee, Director of the University of Texas’ Cancer research center stated “"we wouldn't have a vaccine for hepatitis B without chimpanzees" (why do scientists) 2. There is no alternative * Humans are complex * Petri dishes, while valuable, aren’t enough for finding and making medical breakthroughs * Studying side effects needs a circulatory system and researching blindness and high blood pressure can’t be done just using tissue samples * Even powerful supercomputers can accurate simulate the complex workings of body systems (animal testing) 3. It is highly regulated * Scientists and researches can’t do whatever they want, there are limits *......

South Park - Media Contextual Analysis

...the Dead, it was evident that I grew up in a generation who was entertained by this type of crude, tasteless humor. As I have technically been adult for nearly two years, this show is intended for mature audiences. However, it seems that show is very popular for audiences under 18 for its less than acceptable content to parents. Throughout the film itself, there are many themes and paradigms how youths in American society were entertained in at the time whether if its their language, behavior, or popular culture. According to Linda Holtzman, themes are “subjects that are introduced in the media text and can be minor, significant, or central to the unfolding of the story” (Holtzman, 2000). This film utilizes the four main characters Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Kenny McCormick; all of which are third graders. In the beginning of the film, they are all shown attending an R-rated film ‘Asses of Fire’, a film that most, if not all parents would not allow or encourage their children to watch. This is evident from the inappropriate behavior and rude jokes and its themes that the characters begin to take after and copy its behavior. This type of copycat behavior suggests that not only youths in America society at the time were consumers, but made into vulnerable targets and victims for corporations and companies building a brand. Even though this film company did not have the primary intention to have viewers copy the movie stars’ every action, it did have a......

Animal Rights

...As I'm writing this, and as you are reading this, thousands of animals are dying. In the one minute it takes you to read this paragraph, 19,000 animals will be killed in the United States alone-so that humans can eat them (ASPCA). Thousands more are waiting their turn in line. Some of them are squealing, squawking, or bellowing and straining and fighting for their lives. Others are terrified but too dejected, weak, and injured to fight. But each of them-every single one of them-is feeling something, something awful. They don't want to die, not now and not like this. Every year, ten billion domesticated land animals are slaughtered for food in the United States-twenty-seven million each day (11 Facts About Animal Cruelty). Most farmed animals are killed when they are barely adolescents or even younger, such as the "broiler" chickens raised for meat who are slaughtered only at six and seven weeks old. Every year, six to eight million dogs and cats enter shelters in. Somewhere, shelter workers are heaving the bodies of dead dogs and cats, which just days ago were not only alive but even healthy, into a pile for disposal because no one adopted them in time. Three to four million shelter dogs and cats are killed because couldn’t be adopted on time. In the next city, a circus is pulling into town, with depressed, stressed, and maddeningly bored animals are crammed in cages, where they will stay for hours, waiting until it is time to perform unnatural stunts, which they will......

Bob Marlry

...Music raises the soul of man even higher than the so-called external form of religion…That is why in ancient times the greatest prophets were great musicians. – Hazrat Inayat Khan, “The Mysticism of Sound and Music” Without doubt, Bob Marley can now be recognized as the most important figure in 20th century music. It’s not just my opinion, but also, judging by all the mainsteam accolades hurled Bob’s way lately, the feeling of a great many others too. Prediction is the murky province of fools. But in the two decades since Bob Marley has gone, it is clear that he is without question one of the most transcendant figures of the past hundred years. The ripples of his unparalleled achievements radiate outward through the river of his music into an ocean of politics, ethics, fashion, philosophy and religion. His story is a timeless myth made manifest in this iwah, right before our disbelieving eyes. There will come a day when music and its philosophy will become the religion of humanity…If there remains any magic it is music. Unlike mere pop stars, Bob was a moral and religious figure as well as a major record seller internationally. To whom does one compare him? In a recent Sunday New York Times Arts and Leisure lead story, Stanley Crouch makes a compelling case for Louis Armstrong as the century’s “unequaled performer,” excelling not just in his instrumental inventiveness but in his vocal style as well, transforming the way music was made and listened to, and......
