...Nowadays, there are so many sports in this world that people are interested in and for each sport; there are so many things that make people become so interested. Allen Guttmann wrote the persuasive article called “The Appeal of Violent Sports” to explain why their have so many people like in the violent sport. He also gives good reason and example to support his idea According to my real experience and also the research from the sport event which is everybody accept it , his persuade article is successful because his opinion are reasonable and believable. Firstly, Allen Guttmann said, “The psychological term identification has been criticized because spectators are quite aware of the difference between themselves and their athletic heroes, but empathy seems too weak a term to characterize what I have called representational sports” (p.22). He explains that the spectators are crazy in the violent sports because whenever they watch the players play, they think that people are the heroes who represent themselves or their country. According to Guttmann’s example of when Jack Johnson knocked out the Great White Hope, black Americans were jubilant. Whenever Glasgow’s Celtics outscore Glasgow’s Rangers in a soccer match, Roman Catholics rejoice” (p.22). Moreover, the spectators know that the people who represent them block, tackle, kick, punch, pummel, or pin them, whoever they are. It’s just a game. They can guarantee that they will be harmless and they will be safe (p.22). Based...

Wrestling at the U

...favorite sport for it. Your coach walks in with an upset look on his face. You think to yourself that it’s just going to be a difficult practice. Your coach actually tells you that you do not have practice today. You wont have practice ever again. Your entire life work gone, just like that. With your heart crushed, you cannot understand why the sport is just, canceled. You walk up to your coach and ask what the problem is. Your coach, as disappointed as you, tells you that the University board of athletics has decided to drop your “life” from the program to abide by the Title IX requirements and for not being a profitable program. This actually happened here at the University of Utah 50 years ago and it’s because there is a problem going on at Universities like The U and it is that men’s non-revenue sports, like wrestling, are being impacted negatively. Wresting is beginning to fade from colleges that are not in the Big Ten or the Ivy League, and Colleges like the University of Utah are participating in letting the sport diminish. In an article written by Coyte G. Cooper, “Involving the core product” “While there were 363 NCAA wrestling programs in 1981, the number of men’s wrestling programs offered by the NCAA had diminished to 234 in 2005.” Schools should stop making excuses for dropping the sport and making reasons on why to add. This is exactly what the University of Utah should be doing. The University should be trying to find reasons to reintroduce the sport that all athletics...

The main reason why organisations target a particular group of customers is to make profit, but there are a lot of other reasons why organisations choose to target customers. I’m going to describe Nike targeted customers and I’m also going to explain why and how they target customers. Nike is a very big organisation; therefore it will have a large target audience. Nike specialises in sports wear such as trainers, tracksuits, bags etc. Nike produces football boots; they can choose to target customers, consumers and businesses. For example, Nike can make football boots for kids aged between 10-15years, so although the products were made for the kids, their target audience will mainly be the parents, because they know kids might not be able to afford the product.
