MEMORANDUM

SUBJECT: My goals for this year in this class

My first goal in this class will be to work on my bad habit of procrastination.

In order to fix this habit, I will look ahead into the course syllabus and begin working on my assignments ahead of time. That way, if I have any questions on the assignment, I can ask them ahead of time and have a clear understanding of the assignment before I get to the deadline. In the past, I’ve had problems with staying ahead on my assignments and end up swamped at the end of the deadline staying up all night finishing an assignment or having questions of how to complete the assignment and not being able to make the best piece of work that I’m capable of. I will start ahead of time even if all I do is brainstorm or get simple parts of an assignment done; This way, I will at least have a head start on due dates and get a grade that I will be happy with. Typically, I haven’t been fond of English classes in the past because all they have been is writing papers on things that I haven’t typically been interested in. This class seems to have more of a purpose to me being that it’s actually geared towards my ability to write in the workplace and communicate with others better. When I’m able to get work done effectively in this class it will help me for my future career in business. My second goal for this class is to write more effectively/efficiently.

In the past English classes, my writing has not been as effective as it should be because I have rambled on too much, which can distract from my main point in my works. If I continue to ramble in my writing in the workplace, it will be too lengthy and steer the reader off of what I want to establish. In order to fix this, I will read over my work after I type things out and make sure that I don’t ramble on with unnecessary details and cut things out if I need to.
