The fact is that people still have beliefs and views of other’s personality traits, behaviors, or abilities that stem only from a person’s gender. What is staggering to me is that intelligence has not been found to be gender specific (Weitten, 2012, p.341) but women tend to underestimate their potential and have lower career aspirations (Weitten, 2012, p.357), and are still paid less than men for the exact same work. These societal expectations are sort of an unofficial guideline by which individuals live their lives.
