Grievance and disciplinary procedures provide structures and opportunities to solve problems, difficulties or faults which may emerge into the company, affecting the atmosphere between employer and employees. As stated by Gunnigle (2006), ‘the main aim of grievance procedures is to ensure that issues raised by employees are adequately handled and settled fairly and as near as possible to their point of origin’.

ABC Company will do all possible action to resolve an employee’s issue and the Disciplinary Procedure will be used only when necessary and as a last alternative. However, any disciplinary action will not be taken deprived of an appropriate enquiry. For many circumstances this procedure is intended to be positive rather than punitive.

Every employee has the right to representation at any point throughout the disciplinary process and the right to be accompanied by a business colleague at any disciplinary meeting. Possible sanctions may involve transference to another position or location, demotion or the right to certificate sickness absence. Some actions for disciplinary procedure are described in the section 3.2 of this file.
