n epidemiology, an epidemic (from επί (epi), meaning "upon or above" and δήμος (demos), meaning "people") occurs when new cases of a certain disease, in a given human population, and during a given period, substantially exceed what is expected based on recent experience.[1]:354[2] Epidemiologists often consider the term outbreak to besynonymous to epidemic, but the general public typically perceives outbreaks to be more local and less serious than epidemics.[2][1]:55, 354
Epidemics of infectious disease are generally caused by a change in the ecology of the host population (e.g. increased stress or increase in the density of a vector species), a genetic change in the parasite population or the introduction of a new parasite to a host population (by movement of parasites or hosts). Generally, an epidemic occurs when host immunity to a parasite population is suddenly reduced below that found in the endemic equilibrium and the transmission threshold is exceeded.[3]
An epidemic may be restricted to one location; however, if it spreads to other countries or continents and affects a substantial number of people, it may be termed a pandemic.[1]:55The declaration of an epidemic usually requires a good understanding of a baseline rate of incidence; epidemics for certain diseases, such as influenza, are defined as reaching some defined increase in incidence above this baseline.[2] A few cases of a very rare disease may be classified as an epidemic, while many cases of a common disease (such as the common cold) would not. -------------------------------------------------

The flu outbreak has reached epidemic proportions.

...unique. Each one is issued by a bank and represents a specified sum of real money. One of the key features of digital cash is that, like real cash, it is anonymous and reusable. That is, when a digital cash amount is sent from a buyer to a vendor, there is no way to obtain information about the buyer. This is one of the key differences between digital cash and credit card systems. Another key difference is that a digital cash certificate can be reused. 2- Briefly explain ActiveX Control ActiveX control is a control using Microsoft ActiveX technologies. An ActiveX control can be automatically downloaded and executed by a Web browser. ActiveX is not a programming language, but rather a set of rules for how applications should share information. Programmers can develop ActiveX controls in a variety of languages, including C, C++, Visual Basic, and Java. An ActiveX control is similar to a Java applet. Unlike Java applets, however, ActiveX controls have full access to the Windows operating system. This gives them much more power than Java applets, but with this power comes a certain risk that the applet may damage software or data on your machine. To control this risk, Microsoft developed a registration system so that browsers can identify and authenticate an ActiveX control before downloading it. Another difference between Java applets and ActiveX controls is that Java applets can be written to run on all platforms, whereas ActiveX controls are currently limited...

...Hi everyone. I was just signing up for this website it it tells me that I need to upload a paper in order to join their website. Well I am about to explain in the longest paragraph about how I feel about this dumbass rule. I actually go on this page because I saw potential that would help me complete an assignment, but when I wanted to see the full paper, they said I had to login. Well I never heard of this site, which means I didn’t have a login to give them when they asked me. I do believe that they should have made all assignment open to the public. Then they will get more noticed and more open to the public. So then I put in my info to register like email or username. Then when I get to the bottom, it tells me I need to turn in a 250 word essay about something in order to complete the registration process with them. So I was thinking in my head what to write about since it seems like they don’t have any documents already under this college library computer. So I sitting here for like five minutes and then a though pops up in my head. I knew exactly what to type about. I am typing about how stupid all of this is just to see a paper about a driving course. Then as soon as I’m done with this paper, I’m going to double space it just to make it look better. No I will finish with 275 words total. That’s way over the limit that they gave me....

Social Sites Trends

...Social Site Trends Employers can use information on social sites to learn about prospective employees. Reading profiles and perusing photos has become standard for human resources departments in some companies. One's job search could be affected accordingly .The cellphone potential for socializing remains huge, and mobile features allow social networking site users to continue their experience when away from the desktop. Uploading photos, sending videos and sharing tiny samples of voice are being perfected for friends in these online networks. Socially-established sites are becoming content-conscious. Key players believe that in the future, all content portals will have characteristics of social networking sites. Moreover, beyond the sense of belonging that might be sought, people will visit these sites to be entertained or to find useful information. External public social networking services, such as Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Friendster, can be valuable sales, marketing, and support tools. These services comprise extensive networks of users who are self-organized into groups and communities. Users establish connections directly with other users to form a personal friends network. Users also join groups and communities that are organized around attributes such as products, lifestyles, entertainment, institutions, politics and geographic locations. The key difference between social networks and more traditional online communities is the friend-of-a-friend (FOAF)...

Online dating, a relatively new form of social matchmaking, has both positive and negative aspects to it. Just as any sort of social interaction can have pros and cons. In this topic, I am going to give reasons how on how online dating can be avantage and disvantages to us and what impact it has on ours socials life. . I am also going to give my view point on how I feel about online dating. Online dating have been taking the world since the internet become the center of life But some time I wornder what makes it so appealing to people? Is it because you can fall in love with someone without them superficially judging your appearance? Or, on the flip side, is it really creepy because you don’t know who is on the receiving end of your messages? According to, 20% of committed relationships begin online. This doesn’t seem very likely, but when you consider the communication capabilities of social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, the chances of finding Mr. or Mrs. Right increase exponentially. How to Use Twitter for Business Well, as is often the case, Twitter is not the end of civilization as we know it; it may in fact be a glimpse into the future of communication. Because, at its heart, Twitter is just a communication tool. Like the Web, and the phone and the telegram before it, it’s just a tool to let one person connect with another. How Does Twitter Work? Twitter users–often called Tweeple (or worse)–have 140 characters to answer the question, “What are you doing?” If you join Twitter you can “follow” other tweeple, which causes their updates to appear on your home page. In turn, they can follow you, a form of permission-based marketing. You can also direct message them, but always in 140 characters or less. Twitter communications can be viewed and updated on the Web, through desktop apps, and on mobile devices. Although I use all three methods, I prefer twhirl, a desktop app that has some nice added features and updates my incoming tweets in the background while I work. A quick peek at some recent posts–called “tweets”–include what people are having for breakfast, vague unease about a job interview and a complaint that raw vegetables make one’s mouth “itchy.” (Plus a bunch of non-English tweets that may range from the ridiculous to the sublime and back again.) How Does Twitter Help You Work? Within this participating audience of exhibitionists are a growing number of...

...presence, New Gainesville SDA is virtually non-existent. Continuing my interview with Pastor Sepolen, I found out some of his goals for wanting to have an online presence. “The goal of the church is to win souls. That includes souls that are not in the neighborhood. Being online will allow us to reach more people”. I told him the first step is to analyze if going online would be a good decision. We brainstormed and came up with advantages of being online. In our research we came across a website, There slogan is “ Where technology meets worship”. The site has many churches that offer live streaming of their church services. This is so that people who are unable to make it to church for whatever reason, can go online and view their church and many others. This is a great tool for the church. More and more people are adapting to this new age of technology. Subscribing to a website like this can broaden the viability of New Gainesville SDA. It would be a great opportunity to reach more people. Not only would an online presence be beneficial to the church, but it would also benefit the members and potentioal members.
