... possibly give. In this circumstance, a pre-nup would be of no use, because laws don't allow for visitation or custody rights to be determined but we could have an open discussion about this so we both know how the other feels on the subject. I believe that communication is a strong factor to have in a relationship and if we can't discuss the "what-ifs" then we would be off to a bad start in the marriage. A prenup has many advantages such as supporting any estate planning, helping to lessen any conflicts of interest besides saving money if a divorce was to occur. A prenup could help to clarify any agreements that is important for both of you and bound any procedures or rules for making decisions on future matters. One of the biggest concerns I have, besides financially, is I want to make sure my daughter from my first marriage will inherit her share of my property, if I was to die and a prenup would guarantee me of that. Although I am sure Marietta will be a wonderful step-mother to my daughter I have the choice in a prenup to settle beforehand how I want her to relate to my child. Divorces are costly, for both parties involved, and can be very stressful. I don’t like the idea of the government determining the outcome of assets or other concerns when a prenup can illimunate all of that. http://www.prenuptialagreements.org/ http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/prenuptial-agreement-benefits-drawbacks-29909.html http://www.smartstepfamilies.com/view/statistics...

...Cultural Diversity in Professions 11-13-2010 You Decide Out of the four applicants for the sales manager position, one applicant stood out from the rest as better prepared to fulfill the job description. All applicants possessed particular qualities or characteristics that were fitting for the position, however, only one of them had both the experience, and knowledge the position requires. As a human resource manager I would hire Karen for the job. The reason why I would hire Karen for this position is because of the fact that she was the only one I feel would be able to step into this position and require the least amount of training time. I feel like because of her knowledge and experience she will be confident stepping into the position. Karen has experience in sales and fiber optics. I would be comfortable hiring her as a sales manager because she has five years of sales experience. The fact that she graduated first in her class in fiber optic engineering, tells me that she is the right person to sell fiber optics. This position was made for her! While analyzing all the qualities and characteristics of all candidates, I weighed the pros and cons of each one. Some candidates were appealing because they were single, as this would be fitting for the leisure time they would be required to spend with clients. Other candidates were appealing because they had sales experience; and others because they had knowledge of fiber optics. When considering Karen for the...

...Running Head: GENDER AND IDENTITY You Decide SOC350: Cultural Diversity in the Professions You Decide One of the duties of being a human resource manager at Fortune 500 Company is being in charge of hiring a new sales consultant for the fiber optics division that will be capable of selling the latest fiber optics to leading wireless manufacturers of five key companies. The potential candidate must be articulate, sophisticated, and knowledgeable about fiber optics, flexible to travel, and work after hours. Out of all the potential candidates that have applied and the person I chose to hire is Jyoti, the Manager of Wireless Retail Store. I would do so because she has all the qualifications and experience needed to improve sales at Fortune 500. Jvoti shows great improvement and advancement in her last job position by starting in assisting in sales to managing a wireless phone company’s regional sales. She demonstrated self-initiative skills in regards to management and raising sales by 60%. The position requires traveling and Jvoti being single, is able to work long hours as well as travel to improve the revenue at Fortune 500. Her gender did not play a role in the deciding factor to hire her, only her experience and skills. She portrays herself, as a fast learner and gender discrimination does not impose any issues within the company’s policies (Lecture, 2012). The final aspect for deciding to hire Jvoti is the much experience in managing wireless phone......

...You Decide: Future of Willy’s Candy Company Dear Executive Committee: We’re gathered today to discuss the future of Willy’s Candy Company, which has experienced flat sales and earnings for the last few years. Background: The company’s two major products, Willy’s Yummy Chews and Willy’s Sour Straws, has helped the company maintain sales through a combination of aggressive pricing and trade incentives. Over the years, however, the company has tried to introduce new candy products without much success. As your strategy consultant, I’ll be presenting you an overview of strategic ideas I’ve gathered from key executives in your company. Subsequently, I’ll share with you my own strategic recommendations to help this company move forward. Merger Strategy Given the stagnation of sales and profits the last few years, Chester A. Wonka III, CEO, stresses the fact that the company’s portfolio is mainly supported by its two popular products: Willy’s Yummy Chews and Willy’s Sour Straws. Countless efforts, like pricing and trade incentives, have been done to improve sales, profitability and market share. Unfortunately, none of those have worked and he feels it’s necessary to make a bold, strategic move. Wonka proposes that the company considers a merger with the larger Swiss company that has made countless offers in the past. While this is indeed a bold move, we should weigh...

...Cooper-Pearson is a very well respected sports marketing firm, however, they do not offer adequate or affordable insurance or the options that comes with it. There are insurance programs like HMO, PPO, and an indemnity service. In comparison, all have premiums that have to be paid. All are accepted by hospitals. And all are optional. The two that are popular for selection is either HMO or PPO. On the contrast, HMO contracts have health care professionals and facilities that create a “provider network”. When choosing HMO typically you will pay a small amount as a co-payment when visiting a hospital or physician within your network. However, HMO is the least flexible. And you have to choose a primary care provider (PCP) with this option. On the other hand, PPO contracts have contractual agreements with health care providers. And it creates a “provider network”. But unlike HMOs, PPO health insurance will cover some-but not all-of the cost of care administered by out-of-network providers. In addition, the advantages and or disadvantages of having either plan will solely depend on one’s individual situation. Furthermore, PPOs do not need to select a PCP. And unlike HMO, PPOs will generally pick up at least some of the cost of out-of-network cost. All these factors are essential when selecting an option that is suitable for your needs. Cooper-Pearson has been around for many years now and they only hire the brightest men and women from colleges and universities in the United...

...I am an employee at Wooden which is a large Factory in Littlebury and I have been presented with a difficult decision. One of my co-workers has told me about the ongoing situation regarding the enormous amount of wood dust at the factory and how she saw three quick sparks in the air while she was operating her machine. Now, she is new at the factory and has been working at the factory for only two weeks which makes her afraid to speak up about the situation with anyone past the Section Manager which she did report the incident to. The Section Manager did not pay too much attention to her and told her not to worry about it. Now, the pressure is on me to make a decision on whether or not to report this to someone who will take care of the problem. I decide to speak to several people at the factory before I report the issues at the factory. I spoke to the Safety Coordinator and he basically told me to sit tight and wait until next month when he schedules a major clean up at the factory. I also speak to the Area manager which he tells me to not worry about anything since he has a plethora of experience in the field and recognizes a dangerous situation when he sees one. Speaking to Karen next provides me with a sense of urgency because she tells me she is nervous and how she saw a plant back in her hometown explode due to wood dust. Lastly, I speak to the owner of the factory and he tells me I cannot prove there is a real hazard in the company and that he will consider anything...

...Regina Washington Week 6 You Decide Business Economics GM545 August 14, 2011 The situation with the United States debt need to be addressed and in order to assist the U.S. economy into getting out of the most severe recession that is giving the impression that will continue for at least another year, we need to develop an approach that cannot be accomplished with one single policy, the support will involve both monetary and fiscal policies. As the senior economic advisor with many years of experience as a consultant, I recommend a policy that will encourage growth in aggregate demand to help pull the economy out of the recession. The economy needs direct stimulus from the government since monetary policy can only provide incentives to firms and households to spend, and not actually increase spending. If the government decides to increase spending, as suggested by Allison Tanney, it will directly contribute towards increasing aggregate demand. In turn, higher aggregate demand will help increase real GDP. Another reason why fiscal stimulus is important is that it has been shown that monetary policy is not an effective tool in stimulating growth as the fiscal policy. Patricia Lopez suggests leaving interest rates in their current state, but in my opinion I say that an expansionary monetary policy that lowers interest rates will encourage firms to increase investment. It will also help increase consumption since people will be able to borrow at lower interest...

...1. John Smith tax issues: a. How is the $300,000 treated for purposes of Federal tax income? The $300,000 is taxable income; the reason is that the IRS always collects taxes when we receive a lump sum payment as compensation for negligence, injury or other wrongdoing. Litigants are allowed to bring up a taxation lawsuit in the case of lump sum payments. Mr. Smith, you will have to take all of the necessary steps to make sure that the amount is paid to the government on time so that no fines or penalties are charged due to late payment. If you fail to make the payment of taxes to the IRS for any lump sum payment, such as this one, the law says that you would not only have to pay the taxes back to the IRS, but you would also have to assume the late payment penalty to the government. After all the information given, I would suggest that if you have been given the option to choose, you should choose annuity payments since this case is concerning large settlements, in order to avoid any lawsuit taxation. b. How is the $25,000 treated for purposes of Federal tax income? In the case of the $25,000, they are not taxable; they should be treated as expenses, meaning that they can be deducted as expenses for that year. c. What is your determination regarding reducing the taxable amount of income for both (a) and (b) above? As previously mentioned in answer number 1, Mr. John Smith should choose the annuity payments options, in order to reduce the chances of lawsuit...

This recipients Lisa. Lisa represents the most urgent need, due to the most critical condition of her current situation. She has reached a state where her survival rate without an immediate transplant will bottom out. There is no time for her to remain on a list for another heart transplant to be made available. She has suffered cardiac arrest recently, and without a transplant, she will most likely not reach another birthday. Per medical laboratory studies and determination, Lisa is a match for the current heart transplant, and given her weakened immune system and her previous system failure, her survival rate after transplant may not be perfect, but is in the acceptable range for heart transplant recipients. Her prognosis will improve drastically in all her other areas hopefully of pathology and her long term life expectancy in her 20’s which may improve given the benefits of a new heart. It was a difficult moral and ethical decision to by pass the two other available recipients, but as their life expectancy is approximately equal to Lisa’s at the current time, her urgent need and lack of stability......

... $3,000 and keep the $12,000. In order to get them agree on this distribution, we should use the kitchen equipment as a negotiation factor. We can not utilize the kitchen equipment in our flower shop, but it is essential for the chefs. How to handle the lease on the kitchen space, which has 18 months more to run? We will need to rent space for our flower shop, and the store front of the catering shop may work for our business. But there is a kitchen attached to the shop that we will not be able to utilize. That kitchen is essential for the chefs’ business. Also there is an established business and custmers know where the location is which is a huge advantage for the chefs. They would want to keep the space. Therefore we should offer them to amend the lease in their name only and they should pay the $500 cost for this amendment. This woud be the best solution as we can not trust the chefs to pay their share of the lease if we keep the lease and let them operate in the kitchen. Their business is failing already and we should not take another risk here. How to handle the lease on the van, which has 18 months more to run? We can use the van leased for our flower deliveries. Therefore we should keep the van. Again, promise does not work in business as concequences may fail you to keep your promises. We should remove the chefs names from the lease fo the van and offer them that we will pay the $500 for the amendment cost. How to handle the lease on the kitchen......

...You Decide – Analyzing Buyer Behavior Keller Graduate School of Management – MM522 Prof. Yabs Sherra Jones September 15, 2009 Abstract This report is an analysis of consumer and business buying behavior, which is based on the research presented by my Marketing team at Graves Enterprises. The purpose of my analysis is to develop a marketing plan which will double the sales in the consumer and commercial markets within the next year. Consumer Products Proposal Upon reviewing the consumer products proposal presented by Joshua Edwards, I find that the proposal will work only if the product is affordable. The development of a new eco-friendly product line as well a private label line to be sold in retail stores like Wal-Mart, K-mart and Target is an excellent idea; however, pricing it at 1.5X the current product is not feasible. Being that personal factors happens to be one of the aspects that influences consumer’s buying behavior, we should be appealing to the consumer’s economic circumstances. Consumers want the best quality, but at an affordable price. There are different social classes to be taken in consideration. As Joshua pointed out, our current target market is homeowners, females, with a household income of $75-$150k. Appealing to female homeowners should remain a spectrum of our target market; per Kotler’s text a more direct influence on everyday buying behavior is the family of procreation (Kotler, 2009). The wives in these households act as the...

...You Decide Business Economics GM545 Spring 2012 Semester, Session A Mr. President, I would like to take this time to provide a few recommendations to help our economy. As you know we are in a severe and deep recession. Many analysts say it could last for at least another year. It is urgent that the government makes both monetary and fiscal policy adjustments. We must put a stop to our growing unemployment and fix our inflation rate. I have met with several consults and advisors and would like to summarize it for you. Economic consultant, Raymond Burke, advises that you lower interest rates so that consumer’s can “get back on their feet”. I think it is a great idea, and I would encourage you to work with the Federal Reserve in making these adjustments. This would ideally encourage consumers to increases their spending, and lead to rise in aggregate demand. Kathy Lee, former economic advisor, also made her comments known. She recommends taxes be raised, and government spending be reduced. I feel that just the opposite should happen. If we decrease taxes and increase government spending, we could create more jobs. Also, with a decrease in taxes, people will have more money to spend, which will create more jobs. Consultant to the Federal Reserve, Patricia Lopez, believes that the Federal Reserve sell bands to raise the requirement of the reserve. However, if we......
