B.INTRODUCTION
Submaximal prediction tests are respectable in the sense that they can help prevent health problems by outlining the level of work an individual is limited to do. This is accomplished by loading the “respiratory and circulatory functions to a maximal extent... Males-9 and females-6, subjects were asked to dress appropriately using exercise clothing: exercise shoes, t-shirts, shorts. Heart rate monitors where provided and the subjects were asked to participate in two test. The tests consisted of the submaximal treadmill test and the astrand rhyming submaximal cycling test. Before proceeding with the exam the subjects maximum heart rate was measured using the formula MHR=220-AGE. The max HR was then multiplied by .5 and .7 to get the target heart rate zone for working at an intensity of 50-70% of age predicted maximum. Two heart rate measurements where performed to check if the subject was at a steady state or if there had to be adjustments. While recording the heart rates if there was a difference of 10 bpm the subject had to ride for an additional minute. After doing this the heart rate was checked between minute 6 and 7. This was done until there was no difference of 10 bpm or more bpm between two consecutive minutes. After performing the test a proper cool down was conducted. The subject was asked to pedal at a slower rate for a couple of minutes to prevent a sudden pooling of blood that could lead to fainting. Using the Astrand-Rhyming Nomogram to predict Max VO2 (L/Min) chart was used by connecting the values of achieved HR during the test with the corresponding points of the workload scale for each individual subject. The predicted maximal O2 uptake read is on the middle scale. The table was used to correct for the subjects age by multiplying the VO2 max values by the correction factor.
