As the waves crash against the ocean shore, remnants of life are washed upon the sand. As the tide continues to push and pull, it drags my interests into its darkest depths even further. Everything on Earth that ever was, is, or will be emerged from those mysterious, immense bodies of water. It is hard for the mind to fathom such a concept; we originated from that. Our features, our intelligence, our everything came from a such a simple compound in an enormous amount. In essence, the ocean gave birth to us through millions of years of evolution. Because of the chemical properties of water and our primitive atmosphere, macromolecules were allowed to form. The vast amounts of known and unknown amounts of life living within the ocean depths intrigues me. I often find myself pondering what could we possibly discover next and will those discoveries lead to even more advancements? For all we know, there could be hundreds, if not thousands of new, highly adapted organisms living within the ocean’s unreachable depths. There could also be ships, artifacts, or even whole civilizations submerged underwater. I will never know the answers to many of my questions until the ocean has been fully explored, and mapped. The technology needed to be able to dive to the deepest parts of the ocean may take years to develop. I may not even live to see the day when humans have fully explored the ocean, but I know within my lifetime, more information about the ocean will be discovered. Until then, I will crave every piece of knowledge the ocean has to
