Dealing with the death of a loved one is never easy, especially when you’ve been married to that person for over fifty years. My ex-grandfather-in-law, who we call Opa, lost his wife earlier this year. A month ago, I was asked to help Opa draft a self-summary for him on a dating site. I thought it would be a simple task, but I found myself spending quite some time planning and reviewing these few paragraphs for him.
I started out by writing down a list of Opa’s traits. Once I had my list, I began to do a little research on my audience, single women over the age of fifty. The first part of my research involved searching the internet for articles on senior citizens and online dating. Reading these articles allowed me to put myself in Opa’s
