Opportunity, upbringing and someone’s background plays a huge role in where the person is heading what they get in life and what they aspire to achieve. I believe where a person comes from matters a great deal, others might disagree with what I believe. I am merely basing this off my own personal experience. It is to my knowledge thus far that where you come from matters, and what you aim for is based off what background you come from. Of course a person might choose many directions but I assure you most base it off their upbringing and or background, either to make a better more suitable life or because they are simply accustomed to their way of life.
Opportunities now are a different thing, for instance a good friend of mine and I took most of the same pre AP and AP classes in high school. I am attending Central Texas College and she is attending San Marcos University. Why is this you may ask? I have an older brother and an older sister neither of which have attended a college. We weren’t raised with the knowledge of the importance of attending college, I was unaware of how to apply for grants, scholarships what they were of course I heard of all these things in high school but I was a teenager I didn’t understand as much as I do now. My friend on the other hand was informed. She was awarded the opportunity to go to a great school and her parents could afford it.
My family and upbringing is way different my friend was given a car she didn’t start working till she got to college. I had my first job at sixteen and moved out at eighteen and bought my own car and had an apartment and worked for a living for a year. My parents haven’t helped me out the least bit but I understand that they cannot and I do not ask. I work for what I want and sometimes get it. It was a struggle for me to even get into college. I couldn’t figure out financial aid and struggled with the

Investment Oppurtunities

...INTRODUCTION As a financial advisor, I have got an opportunity to prepare a session called financial investment. This session is for the people who are very much interested in knowing the risk and awareness about the investment for long or short term. It is for all people such as NRIs, self-employed, professionals, etc. Number of observers has focused on the objectivity of individual assets portfolios between risky and riskless assets. Awareness about the risk involved in portfolio has major implications for accumulating wealth. While making investment professionals have long been aware of the risk importance to growth of long-term investment but individuals or ordinary investors may not sound aware. Earlier in India, people are more conscious about the future so they are not wish to take more risk hence they are risk-averse individuals. Risk averse individuals are more likely to limit their investments to relatively safe assets portfolios like savings accounts, government bonds. However now-a-days people earning a lot and their awareness about the risk involved in investment portfolios has increased hence they are taking calculative risk while making investment. Individuals’ attitude about financial risk taking in response to changes in general economic condition has changing apart from innate demographic, economic and behavioural factors. Oppurtunity In George Gladwell's The 10, 000 Hour Rule

...Oppurtunity is a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something. In the Outliners Chapter two “ The 10,000 Hour Rule” is all about oppurtunities that have led some of the most iconic people in history to success. They say to truly master your craft you must have 10,000 hours of practice under your belt. Which made me think, do you really need 10,000 hours of practice to be great? Or can you be purely be talented at something without having the 10,000 hours of practice? How Gladwell explains this method is that first all the children start off in the same playing field. Overtime you are able to distingush who is talented , who is good and who is just getting by. The way you are able to tell is that the most talented have the time to practice which increases is over time. They’re able to reach the 10,000 hours rule of mastery because they have one people around them that support them and want them to be great. Two their parents are most likely able to afford to put them in extra tutoring, are extra music classes etc. So they don’t have to work to support themseleves, they have time to practice. As opposed to the child who is good and the the other that is...

“a Critical Assesment of Religion Today in the Philippines: Reality and Challenges; Weaknesses and Oppurtunities”

...RONIE BOTONA RESEARCH AND METHODOLOGY I Professor: Fr. Dave Capucao “A CRITICAL ASSESMENT OF RELIGION TODAY IN THE PHILIPPINES: REALITY AND CHALLENGES; WEAKNESSES AND OPPURTUNITIES” Religion is humanity’s way to be in connection with the divine. It can be traced centuries ago. In the Philippines, religion existed already during pre-colonialization. However it was only during the colonialization period that religion becomes a power to reckon and established its significance to the Filipino people regularly. Today our country has been open to any religious practices. In a recent statistics Roman Catholic is the most numbered among other religious practices. More than eighty percent of the population are Catholics, this is because it is the religion brought by the Spanish colonialists who stays in the country for over three hundred years. Aside from other Christian denominations other religions also were able to establish their presence in the country. There are Muslims, Buddhist, Jews and many others to mention, and this is because of the freedom given with regards to religious practices. Looking upon the past and even until now, religion has always been the subject of many criticisms. The Muslims in the south were considered subversive due to their demands that were not meet by the government, resulting to war and bloodshed. This has been a perennial problem for many years. Although this was more on the political aspect but religion plays a vital part. Muslims are very...

Failure Is Not Daunting

...psychology, many books like 99 Steps or Tips for Accomplishment are written about how people achieve success. Even though numerous people pay attention to the value of success especially in this Era of Knowledge, saying “failure is a good thing” astonishes me. In Jon Carroll’s article, “Failure is a Good Thing”, he asserts that failure is a beginning, not the end of the world. Failure is how we learn, that is, failure is a natural part of our learning process and a proof that we are trying. Carroll also contends that success is boring since it becomes tedious after a while because of not feeding the soul and keeping us from risking and trying new things. Most of us fear failure, but failure and believing in the possibility of it offer some oppurtunities: It encourages creativity, provides us with new beginnings, and reminds us of being human. First of all, fault is an important teacher that promotes innovation as Jon Carroll connotated. Some of our most memorable lessons come from the stories of our biggest mistakes. The history books are full of those who failed repeatedly before reaching the zenith of success in their fields: Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. For example, if Edison had not taken lessons from his mistakes, maybe he could not have discovered the light bulb. His failures became didactic for him and made him one step closer to success. In addition, an atmosphere in which the possibility of fault is believed prepares the groundwork for creativity. To illustrate...

Examining Government Regulations

...Examining Government Regulations The American Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed by Congress and signed into law by President George H. Bush on July 26, 1990 to protect the civil rights of disabled individuals in regards to their employment, public transportation, and access to public establishments (National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, 2012). In regards to employment for individuals living with disabilities, the ADA outlines regulations and laws that are to be followed by potential employers. One of the regulations states that potential employers may not discriminate against an applicant based on a disability of a potential employee. This regulation is enforced by the U.S. Equal Employment Oppurtunity Commision. These regulations have significant impact on persons living with a disability. Until the Amercian Disabilities Act took affect, persons with disabilities had no recourse for discrimination. Employers could refuse to hire a qualified individual based on the presence of a disability or the employer perceiving the applicant of having a disability. Potential employers could also deny a disabled applicant a position based on not being able to accomadate their disbabilty. With the ADA, employers are responsible for providing reasonable accomadations to a qualified applicant in order for them to properly perform their job responsibilities (The ADA: Your Employment Rights as an Individual With a Disability, 2005). These accomadations include...

Cosmopolitanism, Neo-Liberalism, and Global Corporate Social Responsibility

...Cosmopolitanism, Neo-liberalism, and Global Corporate Social Responsibility Introduction With the rise of globalization come several opportunities as well as threats. On one hand there is the opportunity to overcome problems such as world hunger, poverty, and abuse of human rights. However, on the other hand, globalization could pose as a threat against cultural diversity, as well as allow large corporations and rich governments to exploit human and natural resources in less developed countries. There has been much discussion and debate over how to approach globalization in a way that maximizes opportunities and minimizes threats, but of course it is not always clear which approach will do this. Two approaches in particular, which have been come to known as cosmopolitanism and neoliberalism, have developed and made lasting impacts on ideologies as well as policies. There are avid supporters as well as opponents of both, but in this paper, rather than compare the pros and cons of the two and argue for which one is superior, I would like to discuss if these approaches oppose each other or if in fact they compliment each other as an approach to globalization. As well, I will discuss the issue of social responsibility of multinational corporations in a globalized environment. Cosmopolitanism In order to evaluate the relationship of cosmopolitanism and neoliberalism as approaches to globalization, it is important to first have a clear understanding of the basic tenants and...
