In 1453, Gomes de Zarara writes about the first time Europeans sailed to Sub-Saharan Africa to seize slaves, instead of buying them off from North African middle men. Zarara realizes that everyone there ranges from the lightest shade to the darkest, and he claimed that Prince Harry wanted to bring them to christianity. Zarara also claimed that slavery was an improvement over freedom in Africa writing that. “They lived like beast, and had no understanding of goods, but only knew how to live in beastial sloths.” This explains how Zarara was the first man to have these racist ideas, and he showed that from putting all these people from different ethnicities into one group that Prince Harry had enslaved, and explains that they were inferior.
