Can there be a stress-free mammographer?

We go along through life, so many things to do, so little time, we find there are times that stress is Inevitable. Many stressors we deal with daily. We all encounter stress in so many ways; you can be strolling down for a leisurely walk and a car passes over a puddle and splash, you are drenched with dirty water. You are out of milk, so you run to the store and go to the checkout line and you forgot your wallet. You take the day of for your mammogram, and you are running late, and then they tell you need to reschedule. ? Having a BAD day. How would you react to these situations? Would you blow up? She got a phone call from a bill collector stating her account will be put into collection if they don’t receive a check. So now she has this added stressor. Mary is getting even more upset because it has been waiting for a long period of time. She becomes even more vocal and starts to complain to the employees, asking when is going to get called, that she has been waiting for a long time, its past her appointment time. She eventually is called into the room but still demonstrating anger for waiting so long. She is rude and argumentive with the mammographer therefore the tech leaves the room , her herself feeling anxiety and anger, She goes the boss and let her know how the patient is behaving and that she can’t do the exam on her because of the attitude of the patient. Another tech is sent into the room to do the exam. The next tech greets her with a smile, and apologizes to her about the long wait, understanding that being here can be stressful, if there was anything she could do the make this experience better. The patient calms down and starts to cry and asked to apologize the other tech. She started explaining how her best friend died of breast cancer, how debt collectors are calling her, and she let herself get upset. These were all triggers to her being …show more content…
I encounter many patients who receive bad news which can be depressing and sad. Seeing patient who comes in with a smile , get their results, and leave crying; Seeing patients, who think cancer is the end of their life; encountering family members to hear that their loved one might have breast cancer; elderly patients who come in a lone because they have no family to come with them; is very sad. When the thoughts of the patient stay longer in my mind than need too, I begin to pray, it’s my form of meditation. Meditation is one of my stress relievers. There are many stress relievers that can be used to help with the job stress. What helps me when I’m stressed, exercising, listening to music, chat with coworkers, play games, napping, reading, and my favorite is crocheting. Some people drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, and do drugs, over eating, binging and other addictions because they can’t handle stress in a healthy
