In the article “The Case for Reparations” by Ta-Nehisi Coates it is about how colored people have been oppressed and how they would let it happen to them because they were limited within their resources. Many black people didn’t have the education of a white person and they had limited resources such as school and transportation. Many students had to walk to school because they didn’t have a mode of transportation. White people were able to ride the bus however black people weren’t. Clyde Ross was a colored man and was denied the same education as a white person because he didn’t have a mode of transportation. However, it all changed when he was trying to get a house and his mortgage payments were twice as much as the cost of the house that the owner had got it for. Colored people were pretty much being scammed for their money and still being oppressed because of their color. People would take advantage because they knew that they wouldn’t stand up to them or realize what was being done to them. However, they stood up to them and created a group, the Contract Buyers League and got some justice from those people who were pretty much stealing their money from them to the point were they didn’t have enough money for their children for the sake of having a home. This shows me how white people took advantage of them and they let it happen because they didn’t know any better. They however began to stand up for themselves and began getting some justice for themselves. And they were able to do it in a peaceful manner were they didn’t have to use violence and had evidence to win their argument. Black people had to stay persistent to what they believed that they deserve the same justice white people
