Nosocomephobia Imagine, if you will, that you break your ankle, and you have to get surgery. You are fine for now and your surgery was a success, but they have to keep you overnight. When you are sleeping you have these flashes of blood, and a creepy clown is laughing with a bloody knife in his hand. You wake up screaming, and panicking your parents have to calm you down. How do feel? Are you scared? If so then you might have Nosocomephobia.
What is Nosocomephobia? Nosocomephobia is defined as the fear of Hospitals. “They feel an irrational fear towards the medical center.” (Mental Bluff) There are a lot of symptoms to any phobia like “fainting, crying, screaming, paralyzing fear, or running away.” (Fear Of) But some of the other symptoms are “Rapid Breathing , Shortness of breath, …show more content…
But the medicine can have side effects, and if there are side effects go see a doctor. The medicine does not cure the phobia it can only temporarily suppress the issue/phobia.
So if somebody has Nosocomephobia where do they go? Who do they turn to for help? If somebody has any type of phobia they can go to a Therapist. The Therapist will try and get them to face their fear, and overcome the fear of Hospitals. If that treatment does not work they can try hypnotherapy, or if they are really crazy with this phobia they can try electric shock Therapy.
This phobia is scary but what is even scarier is that it can affect anyone, at anytime, at a hospital. Imagine if somebody walks into a hospital not knowing they have Nosocomephobia and all the sudden they start sweating, and screaming and passing out. How scary would that be? Nosocomephobia causes unnecessary stress on a person. Their fear may be caused by suffering a traumatic injury, or illness and they had to stay overnight in a hospital. Nosocomephobia is a serious phobia. You never know when you have to go to a hospital so watch
