Arguably the most important thing is your obligation as a beginning teacher or an aspiring teacher to make increasingly well-informed decisions in the context of your everyday practice (Wilen, Ishler, Hutchison, & Kindsvatter, 2000). This is because teaching is a profession in which demanding situations arise on a daily basis. The areas of success within Taylah’s Health and Physical Education teaching performance, include creating safe and welcoming classroom environments, developing positive rapport with students, individualisation of instruction, knowledge and application of the standards, and practicing multiple modes of instruction (Personal Communication, 2014; Bhullar, Professional Experience Report 2015). Taylah demonstrates a high ability to cater for the individual needs of each student through appropriately sequenced lesson plans (Personal Communication, 2015). Planning demonstrates clear outlines with specific lesson focuses and sensible sequencing and transitioning of activities. Practicing multiple modes of instruction is another area of success within Taylah’s professional experience. She explores various methods of teaching and facilitating student learning, including lecture, demonstration, skill and concept building, inquiry activities, and technology-based activities (Wilson, Professional Experience Report 2014). Basing the lesson on student-centred approaches was extremely effective in swaying the outcome of lessons, especially engagement and participation levels.
