Assumptions:

* Mallory Estrada assumed that she can handle the position immediately without any training and seminars.

* Managers at ThinkLink hired Mallory because they believed that Mallory can do the report without any delay.

* Mallory doesn’t feel working to a cross functional team that people are opinionated and a positive.

* Each opinions were not listening by other team.

Problem Statement:

* How will Mallory handle her present position in helping their team to submit the report on time and to change her decision not to quit to her job?
Case Facts:

* Mallory Estrada hadn’t had much experience working as part of a team. * Her business program had focused primarily on individual projects and accomplishments. * What little exposure she’d had to teams was in her organizational behavior, marketing research, and strategy formulation courses.

Alternative Course of Action:

1. Study the report and finish it on the deadline schedule to avoid delay and to impress her boss.
Advantage:
* This will help her to improve her skill and showing good example in an organization.
Disadvantage:
* It will create conflict.

2. Mallory must understand and adjust herself about the situation in their company because the company is a cross functional team. She’s already belong to a team.
Advantage:
* Can join and work with the group as a team.
Disadvantage:
* , lack of confidence, cannot share her good ideas

Conflict
The diversity of a cross-functional team gives it an advantage when evaluating a problem from all angles, but it can also create conflict among the group. Team members may have difficulty understanding the viewpoint of other members of the group. For example, if team members with an engineering background create a tool or new method for production and the production team members provide negative feedback, it may create conflict. 2. What techniques or procedures might help reduce conflict on cross-functional teams?

The cross-functional team works together to reach a goal or objective such as developing new products, reducing defects or increasing the efficiency in a process.
It will helps communicate more broadly, gain alignment more easily, and builds better products. And as an added benefit, the team helps product managers spend more time in the market, figuring out what should be developed next year and the year after. 3. If you were Mallory, is there anything you could do to lessen the conflict on the core project? Elaborate.

Yes I have something to do to lessen the conflict on the core project as part of the company already. With my little exposure in teams when I was in organizational behavior, marketing research, and strategy formulation courses. I’ll provide the output research and present to them my marketing strategies, listen to ones’ opinion to avoid conflicts.
