INTRODUCTION

In the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), there are four phases that need to be done to develop a system for used of by the organization. The phases are system planning and selection, system analysis, system design and implementation and operation. Since the planning and analysis phase have successfully completed, now we are continue with the next phase, which is systems design of the POS System in ARZA Coffee & Cakes. System design under System Development Life Cycle was a conversion of description of the recommended alternative solution into logical and physical specifications for the system starting from the input until the output screens consists of report, databases and computer processes. By that action the company might ease to reveals the real systems from which all the programming and system construction can be accomplish.
This system could be implemented into any hardware and software since it is not tied up to any of the specific one. However, the logical design will illustrate the functions of the system in all aspects. In the physical design, the logical design will be interpret into the physical or technical specifications by convert the systems data to the structured systems design.

Physical Design and Implementation

...Physical Design and Implementation Strayer University Physical Design and Implementation SQL Injection is one of the many web attack mechanisms used by hackers to steal data from organizations. It is perhaps one of the most common application layer attack techniques used today. It is the type of attack that takes advantage of improper coding of your web applications that allows hacker to inject SQL commands into say a login form to allow them to gain access to the data held within your database. In essence, SQL Injection arises because the fields available for user input allow SQL statements to pass through and query the database directly. SQL Injection is the hacking technique which attempts to pass SQL commands (statements) through a web application for execution by the backend database. If not sanitized properly, web applications may result in SQL Injection attacks that allow hackers to view information from the database and/or even wipe it out. Oracle database privileges are of two types, system privileges and object privileges. The system privileges grant users power to perform the specified actions system-wide, whereas the object privileges let users perform particular actions on specified database objects. Microsoft SQL Server allows individual users to create private objects in the database. The system records the owner of every user object. Users can access objects only if the owner of the object has granted them access. Administrators can define...

Systems Design, Implementation and Operatio

...SYSTEMS DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION AND OPERATION In chapter 18 we focused on the first phase of the Systems Development Life Cycle – Systems Analysis. Chapter 20 deals with the remaining four phases: - conceptual systems design - physical systems design - systems implementation and conversion - operation and maintenance CONCEPTUAL SYSTEMS DESIGN In the conceptual systems design phase, the developer creates a general framework for implementing user requirements and solving problems identified in the analysis phase. As shown in Figure 20-1 on page 747 HC (page 637 SC), there are three main steps in conceptual design: 1. evaluating design alternatives, 2. preparing design specifications, and 3. preparing the conceptual systems design report. [pic] Evaluate Design Alternatives There are many ways to design an AIS, so accountants and others involved in systems design must continually make design decisions. [pic] The design team should identify a variety of design alternatives and evaluate each with respect to the following standards: 1) how well it meets organizational and system objectives, 2) how well it meets user needs, 3) whether it is economically feasible, and 4) what its advantages and disadvantages are. The steering committee evaluates the alternatives. Table 20-1 on page 748 HC (page 638 SC) presents examples of conceptual and physical design considerations and their corresponding design alternatives...

Systems Design, Implementation, and Operation

...CHAPTER 22 SYSTEMS DESIGN, IMPLEMENTATION, AND OPERATION SUGGESTED ANSWERS TO DISCUSSION QUESTIONS 22.1 Prism Glass is converting to a new information system. To expedite and speed up implementation, the CEO asked your consulting team to postpone establishing standards and controls until after the system is fully operational. How should you respond to the CEO’s request? The consulting team should strongly advise the CEO that postponing standards and controls is not advisable. Rather than save time and money, the company will probably lose time in the future when unanticipated problems and weaknesses arise due to the lack of standards and controls. The following are reasons why performance standards and control procedures should be established before the system becomes operational: * Internal control considerations must be taken into account when assigning job responsibilities. * Job descriptions and work schedules must include the various control procedures. * Performance standards associated with each position must be considered when selecting personnel to operate the system. * Documentation standards and data security provisions must be formulated before the system can be operational. * Error checks must be built into all computer software...

...Stephanie Cook ITM 5400 FALL I 2013 System Analysis, Design and Implementation Professor Al Marcella Cook_7A 1. Should Top Sail implement a Web-based system? Why or why not? I do feel that Top Sail should implement a Web-based system in order to be effective in the time-sharing and rental broker business. Most every major company as well as brick and mortar companies are breaking through with Web based systems. Customers look to make everything convenient for them. Purchases and rentals of most all products via the Internet is how most customer are buying now days therefore this is a must for Top Sail. They need a system that will display relevant information pertaining to rentals, availability and prices and exactly what potential renters prefer and/or looking for. 2. What software acquisition options are available to Top Sail? The software acquisition options that are available to Top Sail must begin with the acquisition process. Step 1 is to evaluate the Information System requirements and prepare a request for proposal or a request for quotation, Step 2 is to identify potential vendors or outsourcing options, Step 3 evaluate the alternatives, Step 4 is to perform cost-benefit analysis, Step 5 prepare a recommendation and Step 6 implement the solution. They can develop a system, buy a software package or customize a software package. In Top Sail’s case customizing a software package would probably be the best route to take and in terms...

Design and Implementation of Solar System Simulation

...CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background Gigantic population and comprehensive electrical energy consumption have made power crisis one of the gravest national problems in the developing countries like Nigeria. Excessive demand of power is always difficult to meet and as a result national economy is being hampered severely due to this deregulation of electricity. Alternative power sources that can deliver output currents in absence of grid supply are now automatic choices in home grid-connected system. In urban areas, IPS (Instant Power Supply) system is being used massively to cope up with load shedding. Increasing interest and investment in renewable energy give rise to rapid development of high penetration solar energy. There are multiple ways to interface PV arrays with the power grid. Solar energy has become a promising alternative source because it has many advantages such as abundance, pollution free and renewability. The solar photovoltaic (PV) power will play an important role in alleviating the energy crisis and reducing the environmental pollution and has a bright prospect of applications. Due to the nonlinear relationship between the current and the voltage of the photovoltaic cell, it can be observed that there is a unique maximum power point (MPP) at a particular environment, and this peak power point keeps changing with solar illumination and ambient temperature. In recent years, a large number of techniques have been proposed for maximum power point tracking...

Design and Implementation of a Bio-Metric (Fingerprint) Clocking System

...CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.0 BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY Staff attenda nce management of an institution or organization can be very laborious using the conventional method of paper sheets and old file system method. Every corporate organization poses some standards concerning how attendance is to be confirmed for staff in offices. This is to enable the management of the organization identify those staff that are punctual and competent, that is why keeping the accurate record of attendance is very important. Also in institutions, tracking and monitoring staff time of attendance could pose a tedious task, time consuming and as well prone to errors. As an alternative to the traditional manual clocking process by staff in offices, biometrics characteristics can be used for authenticating staff. This research will focus on developing a Fingerprint based Biometric Clocking System.  The fingerprint Biometrics is adopted in this research work due to the fact that it is one of the most successful applications of biometric technology. In the manual signing processes, where a sheet of paper is placed at the entrance of the office for staff to write their names and signature as a form of confirming their presence for a particular day in the office, falsification in staff attendance mostly occur. A situation whereby a staff can sign on behalf of his or her colleague as being present in the office when that is not true. This can be so difficult to prevent from happening especially for large...

Implications of Big Data for the Design, Implementation and Use of Enterprise-Level Information Systems in Defense

...Implications of Big Data for the design, implementation and use of enterprise-level information systems in Defense While technology rapidly advances and information becomes a strategic asset, Big Data arouses the demand of politicians and military leaders to make use of possible information advantages to allegedly better support the military mission (DOD, 2010). However, the defense sector is still struggling with the implementation of adequate enterprise-level information systems. Therefore, militaries have to assess the necessity of using Big Data within the different business processes, and they have to ensure that the current implementation of enterprise-level information systems remains adaptable and scalable for future business needs. The amount of data is continuously on the rise due to the rapid growth of mobile devices and applications, smart sensors and devices, cloud computing solutions, and […] portals (“Impact,” 2013). Also, the capability to analyze and to correlate structured with unstructured data will enhance. But militaries must avoid getting distracted from implementing a good information management system that serves current business needs, rather than trying to rapidly dominate Big Data. Instead, the success of todays mission has to gain center stage. Thus, one has to focus on three principles. First: One has to act now but also has to keep in mind that there has to be a transition from information management to Big Date in the future, as Big Data will affect...

With the proposed drying system, farmers would be able to dry their farm produce using appropriate temperature and humidity control system. Abstract— this paper presents the design and implementation of a microcontroller based Seed Dryer Machine for farm produce interfaced with PC. Drying of farm produce and seeds in large quantity such as; melon, beans, corn, cocoa seeds, pumpkin seeds, rice, pepper seeds, tomato seeds etc., has been very challenging due to lack of drying facilities, drying space and poor weather. This gives low lifespan to the seeds and reduced quantity of stored seeds, which in turn could discourage farmers from further cultivations. In view of this problem, a microcontroller based Seed Dryer Machine is designed to aid and encourage farmers to dry in large scale different farm...

Innovation, creativity, and design are vital components to maintaining a competitive advantage because all are part of creating new ideas or improving on existing products or services. The concept of innovation can have several meanings dependent upon the individual or group defining the processes. Innovation consists of two components, creativity and implementation. An innovator uses a creative process to construct an idea, and then the implementation process is used to bring the idea to life. Implementation refers to putting something in place and is composed of three components; idea, selection, and development. Creativity is also a part of the implementation process, devising the idea to be implemented is part of the creative process. The implementation process should be well organized, and a plan from beginning to end should be clearly laid out. Design is thought of in numerous ways; many well-known dictionaries contain multiple definitions of design. Stam defines design “as the conscious decision-making process by which information, as an idea, is transformed into an outcome, be it tangible or intangible (Stam, 2003).” Design is important to organizations when deciding what new products will be developed.
