Part I
Academic dishonesty is a big part of higher education and all institutions make sure students know the seriousness of not cheating. Being honest in your academic endeavors has to begin in elementary school and through high school and beyond. At an early age, students become aware how important education is to their lives. The internet opens up a whole new chapter of keeping academia in an honest state. There is information on any subject available on the internet. Keeping academic dishonesty at bay takes conscious effort and awareness.
The purpose of the study was to highlight a concern of educational institutions that has an impact on their funding as well at the integrity of the systems they have in place. Educators need insight on how and why cheating is done. This study gives understanding of academic dishonesty to allow educators to have a tool to allow planning to help combat the problem. There are inside and outside factors that influence cheating and this study was done to help educators to be more informed.
One study methodology that was used was systematic random sampling. The methods of analysis that were used were quantitative and qualitative methods. Systematic random sampling allows for an equal chance at selecting subjects and not overusing the pool of subjects. The students were taken from all levels of academia and grade average. There were also open-ended questions that allowed for an open response.
The findings of this study could be surprising for some. Most view academic dishonesty as cheating on exams. Students have different reasons for cheating but the one that sticks out is cheating because of not being ready for an exam or assignment. The students also did not feel that some ways of cheating should be included in academic dishonesty.

Here, however, we test whether creativity increases dishonesty. We propose that a creative personality and a creative mindset promote individuals’ ability to justify their behavior, which, in turn, leads to unethical behavior. In 5 studies, we show that participants with creative personalities tended to cheat more than less creative individuals and that dispositional creativity is a better predictor of unethical behavior than intelligence (Experiment 1). In addition, we find that participants who were primed to think creatively were more likely to behave dishonestly than those in a control condition (Experiment 2) and that greater ability to justify their dishonest behavior explained the link between creativity and increased dishonesty (Experiments 3 and 4). Finally, we demonstrate that dispositional creativity moderates the influence of temporarily priming creativity on dishonest behavior (Experiment 5).
