...Good Boss vs. Bad Boss Cherie "Stacy" Martin COM/170 Elements of University Composition and Communication I January 28, 2012 Deidra Powell-Wallace Good Boss vs. Bad Boss There are many aspects of becoming a boss but , it is the way you present yourself, that determines of you are a good boss or a bad boss. When you think of a boss, how would you define them as a good boss or a bad boss? A good boss is one that has respect for everyone she would be understanding, knowledgeable, caring, and a good solid leader. To become that leader she would have great organizational skills, which include setting a realistic goal for the day. Make a systematic plan as to what is the most important to the least important thing to do for the day, initiate your plan by delegating it out to your employees, and follow up throughout the day to make sure you are training and teaching your employees. This will help them create and teach them how to achieve a goal by the end of the day. Always be prepared for the unexpected, but still maintain your goal. A bad boss is one that has no respect, no knowledge, does not like her job and has no concept of how to plan a day’s work or even reach a goal. She would be the type of boss that expects you to know what to do, then if you mess the project up you get yelled at or even are fired. When it was no fault of yours it was because your boss is not a leader at all. She may come to work late and want the employee to do all the work. She...

...Atheism vs. Catholicism For some reason or another Atheists feel they need to beat you over the head with their view of creation, laws, the Bible, God, the Constitution and more. They consistently tell Christians that they are wrong. Atheists, agnostics and other nonbelievers will always seem to quote science, scientists, NASA and others. Using scientific theory to disprove the Bible is like using gasoline to put out a fire, The reverse of that would be using the Bible to prove the existence of UFO’s, it cannot be done. The Bible is “the” source of explanatory information about all of the things that the Atheists attempt to debunk with scientific theory. Atheists seem to have a mental block about the reality of the real truth about who is responsible for even their own existence. They are more than willing to put their trust in Charles Darwin who wrote a book 150 years ago titled “On the Origin of Species” and is now commonly known as the Theory of Evolution. Atheists have no problem putting their full trust in the fact that we all descended from a common ancestor, which is what Darwin’s book was really about. Even though there is no proof to this date that Darwin was correct 150 years ago, when labs and science were in their infancy; Atheists believe he was right but they just cannot believe the Bible. The Bible is filled with witnesses to the events describe in it. Additionally, it is filled with witnesses to prophecy; both to prophecy as it was being fulfilled...

...jihad Ali and Baruch seem to have a very narrow-minded viewpoint on what they accept as divine; they seem to have a stern mindset that anything going outside their religion is sinful (wrong). Baruch feels his parents pick and choose what they believe in and they aren't solely committed to the law of God (408). Baruch's parents feel that that he is taking his beliefs to the extremes. Clearly, the opposing opinions causes strained feelings. Baruch even has a little spat with his mother over dish racks and how porcelain sinks aren't kosher without them (413). He even infers that his mother isn't a "good person" because of her non-kosher sinks and insists that if she wants to consider herself a real Jew that its "non-negotiable" to use dish racks (Marvis 414). His father even feels that he's a know-it-all and has been thoroughly persuaded...

...book “The ego and the id” he discusses this theory of instincts at length. Freud[1962] in his discussion of the two classes of instincts states that the first class is the sexual instincts or Eros. This is a "...selfpreservative instinct,..."(P30). On the other hand there is the death instinct whose task it is to, "...lead organic life back into the inanimate state;..."(P30). He is thus entering into the field of the philosophy of opposites. Human nature, life and the universe is unerringly a collection of opposites. The answer to the question, “Is it possible to have something that does not have an opposite?” begs unending cognition. Hyams(1998) notes this in her article on dissociation. She says that the world is full of polarities - good/bad, inhaling/exhaling, high/low and so on. In addition the is yin/yang, protons/electrons, left/right, black/white, matter/anti-matter and so on endlessly. Does something exist that does not have an opposite? I am yet to think of one. As soon as one defines ‘x’, then ‘not x’ is immediately defined as well. However that is for the philosophers to conjugate over. THEORY OF OPPOSITES Freud’s theory of these two instincts certainly is a theory of opposites. One problem with such theories is that they can become static. One discusses what is a manifestation of Eros (the life instinct) and what is a manifestation of Thanatos (the death instinct). Eros = love, procreation, win/win situations, peace and cooperation, god. Thanatos = hate, murder, game...

...Homeschool vs. Public School Comm 155 8/3/12 Elizabeth Harris Homeschool vs. Public School There are many forms of education that a person may receive today. Two important forms of education include homeschooling and public schooling. Although homeschooling and public schools both have benefits, they each have disadvantages to their curricula and their social environment. Education in public schools isn’t necessarily the problem as much as the teachers not enforcing the work. Because of this parents have taken initiative to provide better education to their children themselves. By homeschooling, parents also get the advantage of having that one-on-one time with their children, but this could result in the child withdrawing from social activities throughout his or her life. It is important to consider many factors before deciding rather to send your child to public school or chose homeschooling. There are a few differences one should consider before deciding on a public school or homeschooling. For instance, in public schools there are classrooms full of students and with homeschooling it’s more one-on-one. This can be a good thing and a bad thing. The good is you have that quality time with your child. The bad is by having this quality time it can affect the child’s social skills. This can then result in your child’s adulthood by not knowing how to speak to people of importance such as loan consultants, professor’s, or even people of the opposite sex. On the other...

...Real GDP vs. Nominal GDP Real GDP is GDP adjusted for changes in the price level and Nominal GDP is GDP expressed at current prices and it is often called money GDP (Gwarthney, pg. 732 & 734). Both the Real GDP and Nominal GDP are from the GDP deflator which is measurements of money and power that are the effects of inflation. The Real GDP is the measurements of significant of price changes and Nominal GDP is the measurements of inflation. We need both Real GDP and Nominal GDP because both plays important roles in the economics system and both are use to keep up with the comparison of years, prices, price index, and real GDP with percentage increases between of the area noted. In my first article, Wall Street Journal, it took place in Japan around the 2000 about the fourth quarter concern because instead of the prices rising they are progressively declining among other nations are excelling. I paid attention in the first 2 quarters real and nominal were the same but on the last two it change the nominal gdp became poorer then the real gdp. In which is bad because the products of goods and services determined the inflation and real growth in which is the numbers economics look for to increase because it’s the profit that counts. I suggest that Japan needed to reevaluate a plan to increase their products and sells so the inflation and real gdp and the nominal which is the money would increase in the world trade sells. My 2nd article of reality of today of 2014...

...Conference weekend is here, and the last 4 teams are the top 2 seeds of each division. So in other words let’s get ready for some good old fashion AFC and NFC showdown. First game of the day will be the New England Patriots vs the Denver Broncos. As much as we know that football is a game about the team and how the team plays, like in most sports, we still can’t get pass the Tom Brady vs Peyton Manning match ups. There has been a total of 16 games played against each other and Brady has the edge, winning 11 out of those 16 meetings, 2 of those wins were in the playoffs. As much as we want to make it about these two players let’s not forget the other key ingredients that make them great. Both these teams have had issues with the wide receiver position both teams have had main players drop a lot of open passes some of those drops have come on deep passes or on a quick catch and run. In Peyton Manning’s case it has been a lack of accuracy throughout the year I guess we could blame that on the surgeries and age but let’s be honest he has not been playing like his old self, but what player at his age does. In Brady’s case it has been an issue with all wide receivers even with the second leading receiver in the team Julian Edelman. One thing is for sure between these two quarterbacks it...

...Obviously there are many conflicts that are different in the texts, one of which are man vs. man. In the book, Schooled there are a lot of conflicts, however most of them are small and not very relevant, but even though some aren't very important, that doesn't mean there are no important ones. Man vs. man is present throughout the entire book and is most notable with Cap and the main schools bully, Zach. They don't get along and Cap kills Zach with kindness however, Zach is more forceful physically because he can't seem to humiliate Cap. As you can tell this is all a man vs. man conflict. And in Dark Energy we see that a common conflict that is present throughout the text is, man vs. society. We see that when Ali arrives at her new school, she is treated kindly and is respected but she is always bombarded with questions about her Dad, who works for NASA, and other questions and everyone in the text looks at her differently in that way. So a conflict that is present in Dark Energy is man vs. society and in Schooled a conflict is man vs man. So they are completely different conflicts because one of them deals with multiple people to keep up with while the other deals with just one. So there is a big difference in terms of people. While there are multiple minor conflicts that are present throughout the text, the main conflicts in both texts is man vs. the unknown. In Schooled we see...

...for the best, developing a sense of trust in the world around them. On the other hand, if the baby is subject to the opposite, in a relationship with the primary caregiver that has been unkind, fickle, and unreliable then the child will develop a sense of mistrust. This will lead the baby down a horrible path and will not have confidence in the world around them or in their abilities to influence events resulting in a sense of mistrust into other relationships. This can result in anxiety, heightened insecurities, and have serious doubts in the world around them. A good example of this stage is Bam Bam Rubble, and Pebbles Flintstones from the popular television program, The Flintstones. This program ran on public television from 1960 to 1966 and consisted of two main families, the Flintstones with Fred, Wilma, and Pebbles; and the Rubbles with Barney, Betty, and Bam Bam. The behavior of Bam Bam and Pebbles is a good example of Erickson’s first stage in trust versus mistrust. After watching a few of the episodes, it is clear that Pebbles is the recipient of consistent, predictable, and reliable. She is more trusting then Bam Bam,...
