Identifying Written Communication Styles

In the first example Bennie Yakos was inappropriate for asking when he will be hired. Yakos was wrong for assuming that he already has the job after just recently completing an interview, knowing that this is clearly a thank you letter for just getting the interview. With the second example, the student clearly has just created an excuse on to why he couldn’t have study. By using an excuse it doesn’t necessary means that a person is taking the blame or the fault but trying to persuade the opinion. While in the third example, John has generated an email to his team to inform them of a meeting taking place the next day. Depending on when the email was sent, some of the team member will not have a lot of reaction time to comply with the time hack of the meeting. Someone could have been away from their desk and miss out on the email. Some of the positive aspects in the letter was that he thank Mr. Gentry for the opportunity for interviewing for his company. Also he stated that he was impressed with the company mission and the package that is associated with the hired position. In the email John took the time out to let everyone know the time and place of the meeting. He let everyone know the topic of the meeting and how long it will take in his opinion to discuss all the topics. In the first example Yakos could have kept the letter short and straight to the point. Just by stating his appreciation for the interview and saying look forward to hearing from you. Example 2 was an excuse and I feel as though it was other ways for them to try and study. So really they didn’t apply their self that much. It’s not too much I can say about the third example, I think his email was flawless. He covered every detail about the meeting and also suggested that print outs should be supplied to everyone at the meeting.

In the first example Bennie Yakos adds, “When will I be hired?” to the end of the letter. I don’t think that’s a very smart idea. Gender differences were found (by gender) on the set of management skills that I studied for this class they were communicating, coaching and developing, and time management. It was not surprising that females reported higher perceived effectiveness then men in the communicating skills. Females are more likely than males to indicate that they use an interactive style of management called transformational leadership.
