Today’s fast pace work environment, one must have several skills in order to be a top of the ladder employee. I have found that in my line of work these skills are what’s needed to be a triumphant employee: * Communicate well * Team player * Positive attitude * Self motivating * Time management * Self awareness * Integrity
Communication is key in any work environment. I see communication not only being essential to the worker but also the whole business team. One cannot do their job effectively without proper communication. Communication provides motivation to the employee by giving clear expectations of their duties, how well they are performing their duties and providing constructive feedback on how to improve their performance. I believe communication also plays a role in the employees attitude. A well informed employee will have a better attitude than a less informed employee. In my organization when we have a major change happening and the employees are communicated to, they have a better attitude about the change vs. hearing about it after the fact. Recently, my team and I went through communication training. In this training it helped us recognize the different areas of communication and what we each of us could do to be a better communicator.
Team Player is more than just a buzzword on your resume. A true team player has the best interest of the company but also has their best interest in their career. They are always coming up with new ideas and have no problem sharing them with the team. Team players are dependable people; you can count on them to get their share of the work done. Flexibility is another characteristic that makes a team player stand out amongst the rest. They are able to adapt to the change without complaining. Changes are inevitable to happen in today’s ever changing business world, how we adapt to them is what will make us successful.
A positive attitude in today’s work environment can have so many favorable effects on one’s work and personal life. Those who think positively and get the job done are more likely to get promoted than someone who complains all of the time. Employees with a positive attitude are able to come up with alternative ways to get their job done instead of complaining or making up excuses. A positive attitude in the workplace helps employees work faster and reach their goals. A positive attitude helps reduce stress in an employees life, they are better equipped to handle challenges thrown at them. With reduced stress employees are able to have better health and fewer sick days than those who are negative and stressed.
Self motivating employees are typically top performers in their field, they have the drive to keep moving in their work. Self motivating employees remain optimistic when facing hurdles, although the situation may be a challenge; they will see the good in any situation. In most cases, they do not need a lot of managing than less motivated individuals. A person that displays this quality is able to be self aware, understand their vulnerabilities and take constructive feedback from their co-workers.

Constructing and Supporting an Argument for Pursuing Master's Degree

...regarding my decision to pursue an Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree to achieve a personal business goal. Next, I will discuss the description to construct and Support an Argument. Finally, I will discuss the considerations of the Jungian Personality self-assessment on how others perceive you. My decision to pursue my MBA I decided to pursue my Master’s Degree with University of Phoenix because I wanted to achieve another business degree before taking the next steps toward opening my own childcare center. Opening up my own childcare center has been a dream goal since I was a teenager. Once I graduate with my Master’s Degree there is a lady I know who already operates two Goddard School Franchises. Ms. Karen told me that when I am ready to take the first steps, such as finding a place, and getting a loan that she will be there to help guide me in the right direction such as giving me the first $25,000 as a down payment. After I do find a place, I plan on starting with infants and toddlers, this way I am able to get my name recognized around the city as a childcare center owner within my community where I live. Pros and Cons of getting my MBA As stated by Clouse, (2006, p. 433-434), “In argumentation, the writer offers evidence to support a claim about an issue. The more convincing the evidence, the more likely readers will agree.” When stating the pros and cons about pursuing my MBA is a life-changing, but rewarding moment, especially because I am going...

Why I Pursue Mba Program

...to Pursue an MBA Degree Getting an MBA degree has always been my goal after finishing my first degree in Business Administration. MBA degree will help me in clarifying my strengths; therefore, giving me the opportunity to focus more. I also believe that people that have their MBA degree make more money than those with first degree in the long run. Being in MBA program opens up opportunities to network with fellow students, which may eventually land one a very good job opportunity. An MBA degree holder is always been looked at as someone who is experienced and skilled in their chosen profession; therefore, commanding more respect from others. Having done my Jungian 16-type personality assessment, my personality result is ENTP. ENTP means: Extrovert, Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving. A person with “ENTP personality is innovative, individualistic, versatile, and entrepreneurial. Possible career as politician, strategic planner, literary agent, publicist, entrepreneur, investment broker, computer analyst and ad executive.” (Personality Inventory, 1989). This assessment gives me clearer vision of what I may likely pursue in my MBA program. I always see myself as an entrepreneur based on my personality; entrepreneurial, innovative and someone who likes to help the public. Based on my Jungian 16-type personality result, I will develop my interests and skills towards my personality type, so as to benefit from my potentials. Aside from the above mentioned points, MBA degree holder...

Pursue a Master in Business Administration

...To pursue a master's in business administration Gary M. Newsome MGT/521 August 17, 2010 Stephanie Jackson To pursue a master's in business administration Many people set goals in life with a mindset of accomplishing these goals, and there is no more important goal than achieving a higher degree in education. It always has been my ultimate goal to achieve a master’s in business administration (MBA), but because of the time constraints and long deployments of military service, attending an institution of higher education for an MBA was out of the question. After 30 years of military service and beyond the age of 50, there is no better time to conquer my dreams and achieve my personal goal in obtaining my MBA. This accomplishment will open new a new path toward venturing into another outstanding career. The value of higher education is an important factor for advancement. The opportunity to excel would be the primary reason to achieve this goal while gaining the skills, and knowledge, of management. A position of increased responsibility requires much knowledge to be successful and a company, or business, may fail without these credentials. Mintzberg stated that “managers are important people who are supposed to sit above others, removed and disconnected from the work of making products and selling services. The higher they go, the more important they are, so that on reaching the top, becoming Chief Executive Officer; they are the corporation even if they arrived yesterday...
