Due to an increase in mental illnesses in the workplace, Anna Harrington spoke on key elements in “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” that informs employee’s or employer’s about maintaining a positive outlook and a healthy mental state in the workplace(Harrington, 2012). Many of us have experienced trial and tribulations that have changed us as a person and our outlook on life. Although, at times things can be difficult when trying to accomplish a goal we push through with perseverance. Through those experiences, we learn our strengths and weaknesses to improve ourselves in every aspect.

Working in a workplace with a diverse pool of personalities can be very challenging. As a Special Education Educator, I love working with children of all ages with disabilities which requires dedication and patience. As an employee, I had that part down but I had to learn to deal with many high strong personalities along with adapting to new an administration my third year in. With a new administration that lacks unity and support among other negative attitudes I learned to stay to myself outside of my group assignments. I had to realize that people are different and not everybody is a people’s person. I learned to control my emotions by learning patience, ignoring the negativity and not letting other people change my mood. As occupational health advisor Anna Harrison Stated, “ Organization is important to emotional control, as it allows the mind time and space to direct effort toward maintaining emotional calm and balance, rather than being distracted about managing the external needs and requirements”(Harrison, 2012, p.2). …show more content…
