Gamer Division Classification

...you are in rank. Rank is determined by experience, knowledge, and attitude. There are many gamer ranks, but I will use three of my favorite; the Noob, Pro, and Specialist. Let’s begin at the bottom of the totem pole. The Noob, also known as the rookie, is often picked on because lack of skills and knowledge. He is always the first one to die, or the reason the team loses. He does not have much experience due to the lack of gameplay and hand eye coordination. Most Noobs will spend countless hours a week playing and continuously losing. His collection of games and video game accessories are very limited. Most Noobs will only have one gaming console, typically the latest and greatest. The Noob will only buy the most popular game on the market and once it loses its popularity, off to GameStop he goes. He will trade it in for the next big thing. This is one of the many reasons he will never get any better, he does not put in the time to learn a game; rookie mistake. The knowledge of a Noob is very close to none. He does not know the history of gaming. Very little time is spent learning about characters, consoles, and games. He will often make simple assumption such as referring to Zelda as the guy on the cover of the game. Simple questions higher ranked gamers know off the top of their head. Eventually with time and enough practice the Noob will learn from...

Wow Addiction

...the actual hardware and software. I won’t go too much into detail here. You’ll need a very comfortable mouse as you will be clicking and moving that little piece of pointer magic until your fingers lose all sense of feeling and they fall off. Then you’ll need to make sure your computer and video cards can handle this beasty! You can easily find the system requirements on the WoW website ( www.worldofwarcraft.com). The next portion is the actual software. There is currently the main game and two expansions, The Burning Crusade and The Lich King, with a much anticipated third installment called Cataclysm which is due out on December 7th of this year. Install all that as well as a few gigs of patches and you are ready to start your “noob” status. Noobs is a terminology used by many gamers to signify new players, or players who don’t know how to play well. The last part of setting yourself up for the technical part of the addiction is to set up a monthly subscription with the software company Blizzard Entertainment. It usually runs about $15.00 a month, with longer term subscriptions being less. This is also done through their main website. Once you’ve got all the hardware and software installed, you are ready for the fun. The first task is a somewhat difficult one. Choosing a server. The game hosts multiple servers on multiple continents. They have them in every time frame...

Tag'Um and Bag'Um

...course guide on how to help your team win the objective, destroy your opponents, and most of all not getting “fragged” two seconds into the match. Most of all the objective is to have fun, and staying alive and in game means you are having fun longer; because being “dead” on the sidelines is never fun. One of the primary things to staying alive is to think before you move. Now I am not saying you should “camp”, a term that means staying in one spot the entire match. While that tactic may serve a sniper style very well, that’s a more advanced play style; and will not be covered in this guide. All that you should do in this regard is simply think, feel your surroundings before being the typical “noob” and rushing out in the open only to be obliterated mercilessly by the opposition. A “noob” is a term for a new or unseasoned player that normally makes mistakes capable of ruining a team’s chances of winning. When playing in the woods for example, if you are quiet, and not breathing hard from sprinting (actually in your first few matches sometimes your breathing is already hard as your heart thumps in your chest from the adrenaline, very fun stuff), you can hear the branches and twigs breaking under the foot of your enemy. It is almost like hunting, you try to acquire your prey before it finds you and gets away; or in this case shoots you back. Another awesome tip that a veteran can give is communication. Communication is a lynchpin to success for a good team. There is tons of old...

Business

...How to Raise Money Want to start a startup? Get funded by Y Combinator. September 2013 Most startups that raise money do it more than once. A typical trajectory might be (1) to get started with a few tens of thousands from something like Y Combinator or individual angels, then (2) raise a few hundred thousand to a few million to build the company, and then (3) once the company is clearly succeeding, raise one or more later rounds to accelerate growth. Reality can be messier. Some companies raise money twice in phase 2. Others skip phase 1 and go straight to phase 2. And at Y Combinator we get an increasing number of companies that have already raised amounts in the hundreds of thousands. But the three phase path is at least the one about which individual startups' paths oscillate. This essay focuses on phase 2 fundraising. That's the type the startups we fund are doing on Demo Day, and this essay is the advice we give them. Forces Fundraising is hard in both senses: hard like lifting a heavy weight, and hard like solving a puzzle. It's hard like lifting a weight because it's intrinsically hard to convince people to part with large sums of money. That problem is irreducible; it should be hard. But much of the other kind of difficulty can be eliminated. Fundraising only seems a puzzle because it's an alien world to most founders, and I hope to fix that by supplying a map through it. To founders, the behavior of investors is often opaque—partly because...

Spectrum of Gamers

...Nicolas Huitron Mrs. Eason English 101 7 Oct. 2013 Spectrum of Gamers It’s a normal evening in my bedroom as I just sat down in my chair and getting ready to play a game of League of Legends. Armed with my mouse and keyboard as I hit the play button to queue for a game, other players doing the same. But no matter where you are playing, you will find the same three types of gamers to play with or against. These gamers fall into many different categories but they can be classified according to how they play the game, such as the toxic gamer, the friendly gamer and the unskilled gamer. The toxic gamers are the worst kind of gamers to play with. They play like the name implies--angry, foul, and irritable. These kinds of player make the team at risk to lose because of their cursing, bickering and calling other players names. Playing with these kinds of players can be a horrible experience as you become a target of their rage. Many players in this group are usually of the younger range of video game players. My friend Connor is this type of player. His anger at the unskilled players in League of Legends causes him to fuss about at the team. He gets mad at any sight of an error and causes him to be even more spiteful. These jerks of the game community usually leave everyone in the game in a bad mood and other players wonder how they are not banned from playing. However, the friendly gamer is the complete opposite. This player usually is care-free and is not too worried about...

...happen. But no one actually knows that was just a hypothesis, a lame one that is. Actually not really lame. You can create a wall of text supporting site, but you would be hated if you do that, so do not. But you can if you like, but I discourage that. Now on to the actual information of walls of texts. The wall of text was invented when the Internet was invented, but actually it was slow at that time. So whenever it became fast. But there would need to be some free or not free community for people, and that community would be able to have walls of text. But that community probably wouldn't have actually invented the wall of text. So basically, no one except God and Al Gore knows when or where or how the wall of text existed/was invented. Noobs probably invented, but probably not. Who knows. Walls of texts are usually filled with a lot of useless information and junk. Information and junk can be the same, but only if the information is junk or the junk is information. But who cares. The information/junk inside a wall of text are usually related to wherever the wall of text is located, but the best walls of text, which are actually the most irritating, most eye-bleeding ones, are completely random. Walls of text usually make the reader asplode or have their eyes bleed and fall out of their sockets. A number of people can stand it, but not read them. Actually some people can stand and read them. Those people do not have short attention...

Chapter 2 Review of Related Literature and Studies

...CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES This chapter presents a review of literature and studies both local and foreign which are relevant to the present study. Local Studies Foreign Studies According to Waldbridge, "Responsible gaming is an attitude we need if we are engage into Computer Game. Developing this attitude is not a personal choice alone, it requires the participation of society (parents, school, and game developer and government)." As a computer game user, player and fan, it has led me to study the effects of playing computer games such as DOTA, KHAN, and other highly innovative and competitively graphical games. The purpose of the study was to establish an understanding of to what extent is the effect of playing online games, network games and other types to the studies of the students in the university where I graduated. While it was difficult to set a parameter of classifying games according to types and quality since I and my friend believed that the characteristics of the games have something to do with the addiction of students to playing, we thought that it would be safe to just assume games as if have the same characteristics even though these games are under of different types and of the different level of complex graphical presentation, level of real-time experiences, the plot of story it is trying to project and a lot more qualities. Thus, if we quantify the effects then assumption holds that each game that we have studied has a...
