BMI is a calculated number representing a person's level of fat or obesity level. The abbreviation BMI stands for body mass index. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a BMI of 30 or above indicates obesity. The table below breaks down BMI levels by weight range: BMI | Weight Range | < 18.5 | Underweight | 18.5-24.9 | Normal Weight | 25-29.9 | Overweight | 30-39.9 | Obesity | >40 | Morbid Obesity |

The formula to calculate BMI requires information about a person's height in meters and weight in kilograms. For weight in pounds and height in inches, there is a different formula but due to rounding, it may not produce the exact same results. The BMI formulas are written below:

BMI = Weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared
BMI = Weight in pounds divided by height in inches squared multiplied by 703

I would be considered normal on the BMI scale.

I am considered normal on the scale, so I don’t see me changing anything big in my daily intake. But now that I know that I am somewhat healthy I will watch how much calories I intake on a daily basis. A key element in maintain a good health, is healthy foods to make sure your daily calorie count goes a long way, leaving you feeling satisfied and energized rather than hungry and miserable.

Each meal should contain lean protein, whole grains, healthy fats and fruit or vegetables. These are all high in nutrients and will make you feel fuller for longer than all those empty calories you get from processed foods. Fruit makes an excellent snack – one medium banana and a container of strawberries equals 150 calories.
