Presenter Reflection Last week, we attended a meet. Now, Lecturer is a lady and Her name is Kristen Taylor. She graduated from John Carroll University in 2004 with B.S in communications broadcasting. She has a ton of work experience, she worked in WFMJ/WBCB-Creative Services Team, her position was Marketing/Promotions Assistant from 2004 to 2008 and now her wrok in Shepherd of the Valley. Shepherd of the Valley is a CCRC, that means continuum of care retirement community and her position is Admissions/Marketing Director from 2008 to current. Her work in a safe and well-lighted place. Mainly, she always work in inside but sometimes she work in outside. In general, her work environment is perfect. My philosophy and values about the health care profession. First, I want to talk about my philosophy about the health care profession. Next, I want to talk about my values about health care profession. I am very like her said that you must have patience for everyone! In my opinion, world everybody all are equal. We do not rely on occupation, income, appearance and etc to judge a person. In simple terms, we cannot impatient for some people with low incomes and patience for some people with higher incomes. Everybody is equal. If we have patience for everyone, so it shows our more professional. Now, my major is a Health Care Administration and System. I probably have two and a half years left to finish my undergraduate study. After that, I want to apply for graduate program in Kent State University. About my graduate program, I want to go to College of Public Health for study. If I can finish my graduate program smoothly, I will do my utmost to apply for PHD program and finish it. My ideal work environment is almost likes her work environment. First one, I must work in a safe place. I need to protect my safety, after that, I can concentrate on my work. Second, well-lighted is a necessity, well-lighted work environment let us have a nice mood and perfect mental state, let us work become better. In fact, if I graduate from Kent State University, I want to work in a nursing home, because I think I have enough patience for old people. Other reason is I like to communicate with old people and talk about some topics that they are interested in. I think I can learn a lot from old people.

Investigation Into Setting Up a Business

...The morning consisted of each of us giving an introduction in front of the camera and in front of other members on the course. I was trying to keep my eye line correct, keep up a high level of energy to engage the audience and ensuring my presenting skills were appropriate, thinking about body language, clarity, diction and maintaining a smile. The afternoon involved using autocue effectively and being able to read without it being obvious to the viewer. Rather than reading the text, it is important to follow the arrow. The presenter is in control of the speed as the arrow moves at the same pace as their voice. We were guided on how to say a piece of text as if we were asking the viewers of a TV programme a competition question and were given advice on different ways to say the text and which words can be ‘punched’ in order to make it sound exciting. Again, I applied all tools I had learnt: use of breath, body language, energy and, of course, not forgetting to enjoy and smile. I noticed that some things I had learnt today were also very similar to what is mentioned in books on entering the industry: ‘…being able to perform for the camera is an essential part of TV presenting. This includes being natural, relaxed and confident, with a warm, open face, an easy voice, good posture, clear diction and good communication skills...” (Wolfe, 2010, p.17). The final part of the day consisted of writing our own short TV show which involved devising an ‘introduction’ and 2 main keys such...

...a few things a presenter must do before actually giving a speech. The first is pick a topic. This is important because the presenter must know what he or she is going to talk about. The next factor you need is to know your audience. The best presenters are audience-centered presenters. The last step in giving a good presentation is the method of presentation. This makes the biggest impact on an audience. There are four basic types of speeches; to inform, to instruct, to persuade, and to entertain. A presenter must decide what speech he or she will give and find a presentation method. The entertaining speech is to provide pleasure and enjoyment that makes the audience laugh or identify with an anecdote. The persuasive speech is used to convince people to change something. This could be the way they think, what they do, or to do something new. The informative speech is used to provide interesting and useful information to the audience. A demonstrative speech is similar to an informative speech with one main difference which is that it includes how to do what it is that is being taught. Each of these speeches are organized in similar ways. A presenter will organize them in the best way for it to flow and be simple to follow. Once the speech is organized, the next thing to decide is how to present the speech to an audience. There are also four types of presentations; manuscript, memorization, impromptu, and extemporaneous. The manuscript method is when a presenter will write out...

In delivering session message or information to an audience usually the atmosphere will seem quiet, serious and silent. For that, there is no harm if a presenter can break the silence. Presenters are required to be delivered anecdotes refreshing the listener's mind when the listeners are getting bored. Road Less Travelled

...First presenter Thesis deliberation week for this school year was more interesting than the ones I watched last year. One of the questions raised was how does this design concept be of help to a rehabilitation center, specifically to the patients. His defense was that, in his research, natural air and more open spaces can contribute to a better rehabilitation of the patients, this can be achieved with the use of passive cooling. One of the major concerns of the jurors was the overall exterior design of the building. Although the student’s objective was about achieving comfortably private building, his design did not speak well so. There were too much open spaces and the faced did not bring in a feeling of a rehabilitation center, rather a school or hotel. I think, although this does help, he could have reconsidered his concept and design a more rehabilitation center looking building. Second presenter The project is located on the new UST campus in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. His concept for the shape of his proposed building was the “Icthys” and the Dominican Cross of the Philippines. There were some few points that the presenter missed like labeling things such as the elevator on his plan and failure to provide an access road to the sewage disposal for solid waste, in order for trucks that will clean the sewage disposal. We must always remember to put into considerations details such as that. A concern raised by one of the jury was the budgeting of the materials used. It was pointed...

Reflection Essay

...of communication amongst the health care professionals and how a good nursing documentation is an integral part of nursing. It will also demonstrate how reflection enabled me to make sense of and learn from this experience, as well as identify any further learning developments needed to improve my practice and achieve the level of competency needed for when I qualify as an assistant practitioner. While discussing the knowledge underpinning practice, evidence based literature will be reviewed to support my discussion and for the purpose of reflection the essay will be written in the first person. Spouse, J, et al (2008). Jonhs, C (2009) defined reflection as learning through our every day experiences, towards realising one’s vision of desirable practice as a lived reality. He also added that it is a critical and a flexible process of self inquiry and transformation of being and becoming the practitioner you desire to be. However, Ghaye, T et al. (2000) stated that for the health care professionals to develop a more reflective posture, they must fully embrace both the principles and the practices of reflection. It is about becoming more aware of how we learn and how this affects what we think, feel and do. There are different models for reflection; some are more complex and detailed than others. To help me with my reflection, I have chosen Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle as a guide: The names of the patient, staff members and health care setting will be changed to protect...

...Learning through reflection 2 Reflection is an active process whereby the professional can gain an understanding of how historical, social, cultural and personal experiences have contributed to professional knowledge and practice (Wilkinson, 1996). Duffy (2007) believes that reflective practice is an active deliberate process of critically examining practice where an individual is challenged and enabled to undertake the process of self-enquiry to empower the practitioner to realize desirable and effective practice within a reflexive spiral of personal transformation. Learning is derived from experience but it doesn’t just happen. For it to take place you not only need to engage in reflection you must also record it. By thinking about what you are doing and why you are doing it is what turns your experiences into meaningful learning. If you are to become a reflective practitioner you have to use that learning to increase your professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of not only yourself but also to your patients / clients. Why Reflect Reflection is really a process that begins with looking back on a situation, pondering over it, learning from it and then using the new knowledge to help you in future similar situations. Reflection, which is learning through experience, is not a new concept. As humans, we naturally reflect on our surroundings and experiences. However, the conscious, deliberate and ordered process of using reflection as a learning tool...

Third Reflection Paper

...GE 2218 Third Reflection Paper “Write your own script for your play” this is the most impressing point I have learnt form Mr. Ki ‘ s success on his career, which is also the major principle for his career management. In this talk, Mr. Ki shed light on the meaning of success from different perspectives and dimensions. I can tell from his career that he is satisfied with what he did in the past and what he is doing now. There are two essential factors I can draw from his experience, reinvent your career and refine your life. For the points that he raised in this talk, I quite endorsed his unique perception on career that it is divided into three phases. “ Work for success”, “ work for significance” and “ work for legacy”. Apart from myself, I guess most of the people value ones’ success by wealth and positions. Mr. Ki , however, adds to that life structure, purpose, identity and significance. Exemplified by Mr. Ki ‘s career, he retreated from his respected working position just at the prime of his career simply because he wanted to do something meaningful, not only to his life but also to the whole society. So he transfers his prowess to help and engage in social enterprise project. Reinventing one’s career is equally important in a sense that it helps put your career into perspective, and achieve a balance of life, just like what Mr. Ki mentioned, the second career, the parallel career and the social career. Besides, always reflect on you experience as well as have a full...

Reflection on Mentorship Practice

...Examples of Reflective Writing Example 1 I arrived on the ward at 7:30 ready to begin a 12-hour shift. After receiving handover, my mentor assigned me the job of bathing Mr B with the help of a healthcare assistant. Mr B has Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a progressive disease of the nervous system with rapid deterioration due to spongiform encephalopathy. He is not expected to live to Christmas, even though he is only 19 years old. He is mentally aware of what is going on but is physically unable to demonstrate activities of daily living, including eating and drinking, has limited communication skills and is doubly incontinent. He is unsafe on his feet so mobilises with a wheelchair. I approached Mr B’s bed and asked his consent to take him for a bath. While the bath was running we began helping him to undress. He looked rather nervous. At the thought of myself being in his position, being the same age as him, I began to feel embarrassed too. I thought that I could not possibly be a professional individual if I let my embarrassment and sympathy get in the way of my nursing care. We assisted Mr B into the bath and started his wash. I knew he was uncomfortable and wanted to be able to wash himself, but was unable to do so. I was finding it difficult to look him in the eye, especially when it came to washing his genitalia. I tried to ease this by making conversation, but in a way this made matters worse. After the bath we dried Mr B, dressed him and returned him...
