Leadership as a whole can be broken into two discrete components: relation-oriented leadership and task-oriented leadership. Relationships between a leader and their follower(s) take time to develop, require a large portion of trust, and two-way open communication. (Which follows trust) Overtime, relationships build to form deep interpersonal interactions. The idea is to create these relationships with the consequence of achieving goals after. With positive relations between a leader and a follower, the leader appears approachable to the follower, and the follower is easier to understand. Understanding one another creates such a bond that it encourages motivation as well. Decent relations will spark worthy work, which will produce suitable outcomes. Likewise, the negation states that negative relations will trigger unconstructive work, which will …show more content…
To the leader, the feelings of those in the group or their thoughts and opinions are of little or no interest. They also go through all required measures and steps to successfully accomplish the goal(s) by concentration, focus, and the organizational process that they clarify to their staff. These leaders have a clear understanding of the goal and can easily create and assign smaller and concise duties to each individual that contribute to the main job to ensure execution in a timely manner. With this style, the leader has more control in their possession and takes advantage of this to maintain the process. For example, a military boot camp is structured in such a narrow and detailed routine, that there is no room or opportunity for any sense of emotion. Every event from the moment the recruits wake up to the time they go to sleep has an explicit time and a specific format for completion. This strategy has worked for many years to produce a strong and successful military using this leadership

An architectural design team needs a leader, and in this paper, the owner of the office is the formal leader. Leadership behaviors of employer architects are directly related to the performance of the design team; therefore, effective leadership is key to a successful design process. Data were collected through a questionnaire on leadership behaviors that was distributed to 40 architects from different design offices in Turkey. Leadership behaviors were gathered into two main groups—delegation of authority and managerial orientation. The significant positive correlations are between authoritarian and task-oriented leadership, and between participative, achievement-oriented and employeeoriented leadership. The position of leader-architects and the age and size of offices are directly related to leadership behaviors. The results show that although leaders of project design teams indicated that participation was important, they actually preferred task-oriented leadership.
