Christopher Reeves Analysis

a. Claiming that God is triune means that God’s framework is a three-being-relationship. How exactly do we witness God’s triune nature? Christopher Reeves reveals this nature by providing support that God is “The Loving Father (Reeves 23),” who is the “Father of the eternal Son (27),” and who—through the Spirit— “declares his love for the Son (29).” And we also see in scripture God’s Trinitarian character: Deuteronomy 1:3, “Lord your God carried you…father carries his Son,” and 2 Corinthians 13:14, “…the fellowship of the Holy Spirit….” Now, how is this at all purposeful to human life? Well, in addition to God’s trinity, His divine image and identity is revealed to humanity through the interconnected postures of the Father, Son, and Spirit. …show more content…
“…he [God] creates a family and makes people designed for fellowship with each other (Reeves 102).” My interviewee explained that his work “connects the world,” that aviation is a mode in which families, friends, businesses, and governments use to connect themselves to other families, friends, business, and governments. It is then evident that my work grants, to creation, access to that which they were designed to do: we were designed for fellowship. In addition, the relationality of the Trinity alludes to the framework of our design (reiterating Genesis 1:27) as the Father is in fellowship with the Son, and the Son in fellowship with the Father, through the Spirit (Reeves 30). Now, to what end is this? What is the purpose of being designed for fellowship? Pertaining to God’s covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15, we understand that this covenant was “God’s agenda for saving the world (Wright 64).” With this agenda, it is clear that a self-involving posture and outward engagement with humanity is required to participate in God’s mission. Obviously, if we were not designed for fellowship, we would find it extremely difficult—if not impossible—to participate in his mission. Therefore, herein lies the telos of our design for fellowship: we were designed for fellowship so that we can participate in God’s mission to bless and give life to all nations. With this, it may be suggested that my work participates and proclaims God’s work to redeem and renew creation if the families, friends, business, and governments that I transport redeem and renew creation. See it? In other words, in transporting individuals who may very well do God’s work, I participate/facilitate their work; a family flying to console another family who just experience a tragedy, friends going on a mission’s trip, businesses using aviation to meet and discuss a deal that will bring about more job openings, and a government official who uses aviation to collaborate with other nations about

Perseus Being A Hero Essay

... Everyone has their own idea of what a hero is. Some think that to be a hero you need to be strong and fearless or kind and empathetic. Most can agree that they believe that only certain people are capable of being heroes and they would never envision themselves fitting the bill. However, I believe that everyone possesses the traits of a hero, all we need to do is awaken them. A prime example of this is the demigod Perseus, son of Zeus. He lived his life as an ordinary fisherman, but, when he and his people were threatened, he stepped up to be the incredible hero that they needed. His success can be attributed to his loving, determined and courageous character. You may wonder: “what does his personality have to do with him being a hero?”, well, sit back and allow me to answer this. People always say that love is a hero’s main weakness, however, Perseus proves that it is, in fact, one of his biggest strengths. It is obvious that Perseus loves his family dearly, as they are the reason why he chooses to fight. He agreed to help defeat Hades’ monster, the Kraken, in order to avenge his family. This is because, while Hades was punishing the humans for declaring war on the gods, he also sank the boat that Perseus and his family were on. Perseus was the only survivor and he became motivated to get revenge on his family’s killer. Along the way, he also developed a strong bond with a woman named Io, who he came to care very much for. She had been there supporting and guiding him throughout...

How Is Christopher Columbus A Hero

...What makes someone a hero? It is defined by the dictionary as a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Did Christopher Columbus not utilize his courage and nobleness when traveling across the dangerous Atlantic Ocean? Christopher Columbus was a hero because he was courageous and unique, he created a bridge from the old to new world, and he provided his country with material riches. Without his exploration of North America, the world we live in today would be completely different. Columbus originally set out to find a shorter sea route to Asia. Although he did not reach his destination, that does not make him any less courageous. At the time there were no accurate maps and there was the...

Freedom of Speech Essay

...I was at my house and my phone rings and it is my brother’s friend. He had got in a car crash because he didn’t see that there was a curve until it was too late. The driver had got his head put in the front windshield and the passenger hit the roof which made his eye have a medium size cut. In hero literature, authors use heroes to symbolize freedom combined with details that describe power corrupts which within the hero genre allow readers to experience birth and ultimately consider the pattern. First, I believe that a hero has to be someone who goes out of his or her name to help or save someone that they know or even don’t know because I always think of someone who walks up to someone who is homeless and gives them something to eat or even some money. The other thing that I think of would be when you see someone in the hall is having trouble and have dropped their things and you go help them pick it up. Second, in the story The Adventures of Robin Hood, Robin Hood is the hero because he shows how he is overpowering the villain. Robin Hood personifies the spring because he talks about it being spring time a lot. Robin Hood rose above the villain once he started to become famous. This story inspires us to rise above the common person and defeat evil because we see that someone else could do it so we have an example of how to overcome the “evil” in our life. Third, I think that Sundiata personifies a coin at the tip of a mountain because if you hit it at all it will fall...

Odysseus: A Modern Hero

...Christopher Reeve, the producer of, Superman, stated that “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” Throughout time, a hero has represented an individual who sacrifices himself for a cause greater than themselves. Odysseus the protagonist from The Odyssey faces many hardships for his country returning home from the Trojan War. Martin Luther King faces a similar struggle through his fight for the equal rights of African Americans. In addition to the evolution of society, the definition of a hero has evolved, valuing different characteristics. Despite the obstacles both men face, through comparing Dr. King and Odysseus, one can see that contemporary society values selflessness,...

Comparison Of Theseus And Martin Luther King Jr

...In the words of Christopher Reeve, “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” I think that his words have true meaning because when analysing heroes like Spiderman and Martin Luther King Jr. you would notice that both come from a background full of struggles. For example, Spiderman dealt with the death of his parents and uncle and Martin Luther King Jr. suffered from beatings and depression. The two are now heroes because they found the strength to live and endure. This theme is also commonly found in Greek mythology. Heroes from those times had also undergone many hardships in their way to glory. A great example of a hero from Greek times is Theseus. He fought through many obstacles and it is because of his strength, leadership and determination through them that he carved his name in history....

Circumstantial Analysis Of Heroism

...A Circumstantial Hero: An Analysis of Heroism The word hero commonly provokes the image of a superhuman in one’s mind. A power stance coupled with a cape beautifully flowing in the wind somehow makes up a hero who is bigger, stronger and overall greater than the average man. However, if one looks beyond this fictional description, he can find the more realistic qualities of an everyday hero. These real-life heroes tend to be people who are brave and courageous; they take action when action is needed for the greater good of their surrounding people. With this being said, it is ignorant to declare one singular definition of heroism as every person, community, culture, and generation can classify a hero in a very different way. The qualities and characteristics of a hero are entirely circumstantial, and therefore are forever in flux. One of the many heroes of American history is Rosa Parks, often referred to as “the first lady of civil rights.” Many know Parks as a hero due to her act of defiance in 1955....

A Rhetorical Analysis Essay On Christopher Reeve

...Christopher Reeve uses strong diction to portray that he cares about the people with disabilities and wants to help them. First, Reeve uses words like family to give the audience a sense of kindness coming from him as if he were referring to everyone with disabilities as his family. He says, “You may have an aunt with Parkinson’s disease, a neighbor with a spinal cord injury, or a brother with AIDS, and if we’re really committed to this idea of family, we’ve got to do something about it.” This signifies that Reeve wants to help his “family” out, even if they’re real family or just friends or even strangers. From what he is saying the audience believes that he’s truly trying to make a difference for all the people with disabilities....

...The Eradication of Corruption at Fluor Corporation By Marcus Youngquist 15 Jul 2009 When thinking about what is the most important initiative for Alan Boeckmann; CEO of Fluor Corporation, can take to eliminate corruption in his company many initiatives come to mind. The Fluor Corporation delivers engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services to 600 clients on 1,000 projects in 85 different countries. (1) When a company of that size and magnitude tries to combat something such as corruption which has been present in the world for centuries, it is without a doubt an uphill battle. I feel that Boeckmann can be successful in corruption free contracting if the right steps continue to be taken. The fight against corruption needs to happen on multiple levels; financially, politically, and intellectually. One of the first steps in eradicating corruption is on the financial front. Fluor can do this by continuing to support leading advocacy groups. (1) There is the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In 1998 more than 30 nations, including all of our major trading partners, implemented rigorous anti-bribery commitments mandated by OECD. (1) One company that pioneered the private sector getting involved with anti-corruption acts is the the Partnership Against Corruption Initiative (PACI).
