I would like to express my dissatisfaction with my recent experience at Delta Airline. One week ago, I was at Delta airport, ready to leave for a vacation that I had been dreaming about since I started my junior year in high school. The problem commenced when my flight was delayed. Furthermore, my luggage was delivered to an incorrect place. These instabilities turned my vacation into a chaos, causing me to feel discontent towards Delta.

I have been flying with Delta Airline for past 10 years, and always had an enjoyable trip with them. However, I am dissatisfied with my recent experience with them. The problem started when my flight was delayed by an hour. I understood that nobody is perfect, and I patiently waited for an extra hour. However,...

...was the summer of 2002, and my best friend Candace and I wanted to go on vacation. We thought long and hard about where we wanted to go, and finally decided to fly to Florida. Candace and I started our planning by searching for hotel rooms in the West Palm area, and getting tickets for our flight from the internet. We boarded a plane for Florida in Lexington, Kentucky. We had a layover in Detroit, Michigan, which I thought was very interesting. We were heading North to go South! I enjoyed flying, so I didn't mind. I sat in the window seat so I could watch the beautiful clouds go speeding by, as if they were flying saucers. I also enjoyed the many sites you could see on the ground, entire fields looked like little puzzles from way up in the airplane. Once we arrived in West Palm, we rented a car and started the great search for our hotel. It took us about an hour to find the hotel, which was only ten minutes from the airport. We saw some beautiful neighborhoods including the Kennedy Mansion. What a gorgeous, huge home. I can still picture it today. It was a three-story brick home with white post in the front, surrounded The hotel was right around the corner from the circle we had been driving around the whole time. We laughed so hard when we finally realized just how close we were to our destination. Upon checking into our hotel, we were served champagne. We began to wonder if if they thought we were famous. This was my first......

The Mountainlodge

...The MountainLodge, a mid-price, good quality “destination” resort hotel, is open only during the skiing season. The operating performance of this hotel in the skiing season is very well, but that in off-season is poor. Mrs. Krachit, CEO of this hotel, think about various methods to improve the situation. Among many things, operating and repair, maintenance of west wing are important issues. We assume that X rooms must be rented each night in season for the hotel to breakeven. If 50 rooms in the east wing are fully rented. So, [50*0.2*15+50*0.8*20+(X-50)*0.2*20+(X-50)*0.8*25]*120= 138,410 X=58 If 30 rooms in the west wing are fully rented. Then, [30*0.2*20+30*0.8*25+(X-30)*0.2*15+(X-30)*0.8*20]*120=138,410 X=53 In conclusion, when 50 rooms in the east wing are fully rented, 58 rooms must be rented each night in season for the hotel to breakeven. When 30 rooms in the west wing are fully rented. 53 rooms must be rented each night in season for the hotel to breakeven. If all room rates were raised $5 on weekend nights, but occupancy fell to 72 rooms instead of 80, If 50 rooms in the east wing are fully rented. [50*0.2*20+50*0.8*25+22*0.2*25+22*0.8*30]*120=220560 220560-138,410=82150 If 30 rooms in the west wing are fully rented. [30*0.2*20+30*0.8*25+42*0.2*15+42*0.8*20]*120=182160 182160-138,410=43750 So, the revised profit before taxes for the year is 82150 or 43750. For off-season, the hotel management should make west wing of the hotel operating year-round, which......

Rental/Vacation Home Case

...Tax Case 3 Individual Paper 2/22/2014 Attn: Dr. Ott Executive Summary: In this case, my group members represented the side of the taxpayer. One of the main issues in this case is whether or not Rex and Agnes Harrell should be able to make deductions in excess of rental income on their beach house. This deduction depends on if the 14-day personal use provision was exceeded. If the 14-day provision was exceeded than income should be limited to rental income as the ISR decided in this case. However, we have determined that the Harrell’s have not violated the 14-day provision and should therefore be allowed deductions for rental expenses exceeding rental income. Facts: • The Harrell’s purchased a beach house to use occasionally for recreational purposes, but also to rent it out. • The house was in need of significant repairs so the couple decided to make the repairs themselves rather than hiring a contractor. Rex had taken advanced courses in woodwork at a local community college and he applied those skills in his maintenance work. • The log maintained by the Harrell’s showed that the couple occupied the house for 38 days and rented it out for 49 days. On 24 of the 38 days occupied, one or both of them were actively working on the beach house. • On the days they were working on the beach house they sometimes still had time for fun with their two teenage children. Some days they would only work 4 to 5 hours and be able to have fun while other days they would......

In addition to the easy access to OTA or hotel site when ready to book. Upon logging in for free at TA users can post reviews of their own experiences which enhanced the decision making process. Walt Disney Details

...Disney’s Core Competency Walt Disney once noted: “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse”. (Disney Dreamer, 1998). Walt Disney’s original core competence was cartoons and animated movies. By combining Imagineering with engineering Disney’s company reached unparalleled success with the creation of the first full length animated movie. This success led to new ideas and one of them was to open a park, a different kind of park. In Disneyland Walt used new technology to bring his characters to life. He called them “Animatronics”. (Magical Kingdoms, July 2008) Together with unique storytelling and high quality of service Walt Disney created a magical environment for his guests which none of the competitors could quite duplicate. It became Walt Disney’s core competency. Disney once said: “Anything that has the Disney name to it is something we feel responsible for.” (Disney Dreamer, 1998) This competency is driven by superior Disney products and most of all by cast members and their renowned guest service. It’s always been a challenge to keep up with high expectations of the guests. To continue to improve its business Disney has set up new cast member standards in the form of the Basics (Meeting the new standards, December 2007). The new standards expect cast members to create and reinforce “magical” experience for the guests by being approachable, engaging, and willing to go above and beyond. As the company developed, many new...

...wonderful place in the world… But it requires people to make the dream a reality”. As soon as I heard this quote during my tradition class, I tried to keep it in mind during my whole program without even imagining that I will probably remember it for the rest of my life. As part of our program at INSEEC Bordeaux, we needed to find a foreign company to work for during the summer break in order to live a new experience and arouse our pretty small resume. We were asked to learn both human and professional skills during this period. 1.1 What is the Walt Disney World International College Program? The international College Program is a summer work program based on the availability of foreign college students due to their summer vacations. This program last three months and is reserved for non-American students enrolled in a three to four year college program. They are required to work as a normal employee for the whole summer after a couple of weeks of training. Several tasks are available during the program, students are asked to choose what they want to do at the second interview in Paris. (For the French ICP) Among the jobs available: Main Entrance Operations | In charge of the whole welcoming process, parking organizations, greeting guests and keep them inform of all the activities, facilities and packages in the park. | Character Performer | Entertaining the guests while wearing the characters costumes and create interactivity with them. Disney Case Analysis

...Identify the Problem (Feel free to disagree/add and subtract.) Disney, while broadly diversified –are lately using a method of acquisition – a capital intensive approach. As well, they are making large capital investments in their existing infrastructure. –Do they have the numbers to support this aggressive (and seemingly unfocused and thereby risky) approach- both in the long term (identity/ brand focus) and short term (cash). Is this a sustainable and strategic path to growth, or does this rush to capitalize on rapidly changing trends lead to oversaturation without developing existing core “money makers”? Is the happiest place on earth recession proof? How do they sustain interest and growth to match ever-continuing investment? Background (I focused more on “ generally what’s happened since the case in the text”, instead of reiterating everything the textbook—but I can change that). This year marks Disney’s 60th anniversary- Disney operates television networks including ABC and ESPN, theme parks on three continents, a movie studio, and gaming and consumer products divisions. Revenues at Disney’s parks Unit (their second largest division)- have climbed over the past few years since the written text case. Disney has invested billions to add Cars Land, expanded and added more current attractions to Disney World, built a new cruise ship etc. For the six months that ended March 28, parks operating income rose 22 percent to $1.4 billion. Disney also followed......
