What is genetics? Genetics is the biological process of the passing of inherited characteristics from the parents to their offsprings. Chromosomes are the foundation for the development of life. They are established in the cell’s nucleus and are shaped from filaments of DNA. Genes (sections of DNA) are the elements in chromosomes. Each genetic code incorporates a special protein to the code. The proteins mobilize, monitor, and sustain your body. Indifference to human egg and sperm cells, dog offsprings are created through the mother’s dam chromosome and the father’s sire chromosome. Dog breeds are much more hereditarily differing in comparison to human races. There is a huge difference in size between different breeds of domestic dogs, and the intention is to figure out why. The purpose of Genetics Lab I is to determine whether or not genetic variation has an effect on dog size. The goal of Genetics Lab II is to depict and evaluate the arrangement varieties in dog heredity. If genes and sequence variations do have an effect on the different breeds of dogs, which genes and sequence variations? A dataset of 364 purebred domestic dogs will be of assistance in the search for a reliable answer. …show more content…
The usage of excel was to assist in the organization factor of recording the dog genes and sequence variations data, and to understand how excel functions. In the second lab, learning how to use the UCSC genome browser was another main purpose of the lab because it provides information of the location of the genes along the chromosomes.
