Get It Under Control!

What is a normal way of life? A life with a 30–year mortgage for $150,000 or more, $75,000 worth of student loans, a $27,500 vehicle loan, plus $20,000 in credit card debt; wondering if you will ever pay everything off and still be able to retire at a decent age? There has to be another way. There is! Pay with cash! Ditch the credit cards; say goodbye to student loans; forget about the vehicle loan, maybe even eliminate the mortgage! Some of the problem perhaps lies with how children are being educated. How many high schools actually offer finance-orientated classes? This type of class is not mandatory but it should be. To the best of my knowledge, Grand Traverse County does not require it. If the children were better prepared to handle finances, and understood what lay in store for them once they graduated; they would have a great advantage. “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). The children would know how to budget for themselves. They would know how much money is being paid, how much is being saved, and most importantly, what they could afford to purchase. They would not fall into the abyss of credit. They would not need to get a fancy credit card just to feel like an adult. The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender’s slave (Proverbs 22:7).

Government officials are being more stringent on credit card companies; stricter guidelines for soliciting on college campuses is just one example. In fact, some schools are prohibiting the companies from soliciting on campus altogether, however the companies just set up adjacent to the school property to promote their products and ‘services’. Many schools have rescinded the right

...Question #1: Explain the “get tough” movement and how it is different from the original parens patriae idea. Parens patriae gave the state the right and responsibility to take control over children from the natural parents when they proved to be unable to meet their responsibilities or when the child was a problem for the community. (Gennaro E. Vito; Julie C. Kunselman, 2012) “Get Tough” movement featuring stricter penalties for youths including the sentencing of juveniles as adults and the death penalty that is focused on such issues as punishment, justice, and accountability. This terminology reflects the view that juveniles must bear individual responsibility for their crimes, particularly serious crimes, as adults do. (Gennaro E. Vito; Julie C. Kunselman, 2012) The get tough movement recognized the shortcomings of the original doctrines of the child savers and the juvenile court philosophies. Child savers under the parens patriae rule would rather cuddle the juvenile, and not allow the justice system to punish juveniles under the belief they are not responsible for their actions. The “Get Tough” viewpoint holds just the opposite view, that juveniles should be punished to make them more responsible. The “Get Tough” movement focuses on the crimes juveniles commit rather than the basic causes of delinquency. Because of this, more juveniles are being tried in criminal courts and sent to state prisons. Parens patriae gave the state the right and the responsibility to remove...

...what “society” and the “general public” thinks is beautiful. The way I see it the ONLY opinion that even matters is Gods. The beauty he loves, is inner beauty. My mom always told me beauty is as beauty does. See I went through a really hard time all through elementary school and all through middle school. Obviously I am not the skinniest person in the world. I mean come on people lets face it, am I gonna be a skinny super model....no. Do I care....no! But what I did care about is what people thought of me. How people perceived me....when they looked at me did they see just some chubby teen, or do they see a vivacious, hilarious girl with a cool personality? Well, what do you think they thought? They thought the chubby teen......I used to get made fun of so badly in school. People would call me names and laugh at me. I felt extremely insecure ALL the time.............................. The reason I want to stress so hard on this word tonight is because so many teenagers...not just girls, go through day-to-day rejection from peers at school. In this generation we live in so many teens feel like they aren’t pretty enough, they don’t have the right clothes, they aren’t popular enough, they don’t have gorgeous hair, or for guys they don’t have “swag.” But see, thats in the eyes of the public. In the eyes of the...

...would like to do is describe what kind of organization that IM runs with Deluxe Tool. Looking at Deluxe Tool, it is easy to see that this company operates under a bureaucratic control. This organization is very formal. Clearly IM has rules and regulations that are expected of his employees. These formalities have allowed the organization to be successful and to grow. Mr. Tycoon practices the art of Gemba Walking, because as stated in the case details he is very involved in the day to day operations of the company. Now, with the responsibilities of Safe Buy Insurance and MicroAge Software, he must now look at those organizations and figure out a way to manage them under his style of leadership. We first review the Safe Buy Insurance Company. (Brasfield, 2013 p. 347) Safe Buy Insurance is the actual name of the company, however according to the details of the case none of the agencies up under Safe Buy carry the Safe Buy brand. It was mentioned that many of the agencies are not making the profit that they made in the previous years. It was mentioned that there are issues with the processing of paperwork. IM’s first point of business is to establish a mission statement, vision, and goal for this company. Right now, it is stated that this business is market controlled. There needs to be a standard through the agencies under Safe Buy. The company needs to know what they stand for, where they are at, and where they are going. Providing a standard, with what is expected and...

...care system is literally losing “patients,” killing more than 500 per day from errors, accidents and infections in hospitals alone, not to mention the mortality and suffering from millions of procedures that never needed to be done in the first place. A report by the Institute of Medicine Health suggests a third or more of health costs are wasted. The cost of these unnecessary, harmful early elective deliveries was estimated in a study in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology to be nearly $1 billion per year (Forbes). If we cannot get the healthcare situation under control, we will just keep piling up the debt here in the US. Now I will elaborate more on the national debt here in the US. As of February 29, 2016, the official debt of the United States government is $19.1 trillion. This amounts to $59,196 for every person living in the U.S. and $153,511 for every household in the U.S. If the U.S. does not get this under control then we could face the consequences of reduced future national income and living standards, reductions in spending on government programs, higher marginal tax rates, higher inflation that increases the size of future budget deficits and decreases the purchasing power of citizens’ savings and income. It will also cause restricted ability of policymakers to use fiscal policy to respond to...

Student Loan Summary

...easily to rack up the amount of money you borrow from different companies. When you do borrow a lot of money, and don’t pay it back it effects everything in your credit. When you go to get another loan or credit card you will realize that your interest rate will be higher than before, and that you may get turned down for that same card because you do not qualify, and have already borrowed too much money, according to your credit. • How do you plan on repaying your student loans? o I currently do not have any student loans, and do not plan on getting any for a long, long time. If I did get one though I would plan on repaying it back out of the job that I get from my college education. I would probably try to set it up to be an automatic payment out of my bank account so I wouldn’t have to worry about it. • What is one positive thing you can do to keep your student loans under control? o One positive thing you can do to keep your student loans under control is by making sure you’re not using your student loan money for more than your schooling. A lot of people get student loans and end up using some of the money for their own benefit, rather than using it all for college. So the best thing you can do to keep your student loans under control is by using it only for college so you do not need to get more and more loans to pay for your...

Turnround at the Preston Plant

...especially paper for specialist uses. The plant used coating machines that allowed precise coatings to be applied. After coating, the conversion department cut the coated rolls to the final size and packed the sheets in small cartons. The Curl problem In late 1998 Hewlett-Packard (HP), the plant’s main customer for ink-jet informed the plant of some problems it had encountered with paper curling under conditions of low humidity. There had been no customer complaints to HP, but its own personnel had noticed the problem and wanted it fixed. Over the next seven or eight months a team at the plant tried to solve the problem. Finally, in October 1999, the team made recommendations for a revised and considerably improved coating formulation. By January 2000 the process was producing acceptably. However, 1999 had not been a good year for the plant. Although sales was reasonably buoyant, the plant was making a loss of around $2 million for the year. In October 1999, Tom Branton, previously accountant for the business, was appointed as Managing Director. Slipping out of control In the spring of 2000, productivity, scrap and re-work levels continued to be poor. In response to this the operations management team increased the speed of the line...

Violence in America vs. Gun Control

...Violence in America vs. Gun Control In America today violence continues to drastically increase with millions of gun related deaths annually, yet given the right training, skills, and a sound minded person a gun is often one of the greatest assets to have for protection. In the U.S. Constitution the right to bare arms is a liberty given to those citizens who qualified to do so under their first amendment rights. Many people are torn about the right to bare arms and some lobby more increasingly by the days to have more laws to further restrict gun laws. On the other side of the fence you have a great deal of people who try to fight and not only keep their first amendment right, but to also have the noose loosened to make gun laws less restrictive. A gun is very dangerous and can be used to cause a massive amount of damage, but a gun is also safe and can also protect from a human predator who pursues another human as prey. The more powerful guns get and the more access people have to them the sum for me is simple “guns aren’t dangerous, but people are dangerous. On Tuesday, April 20, 1999 the Columbine school massacre happened in Littleton Colorado near Denver. “Two senior students, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, embarked on a massacre, killing 12 students and 1 teacher. They also injured 21 other students directly, and three people were injured while attempting to escape. (en.wikipedia.org) After the two high school students went on a wild shooting spree which lasted for about...

Nobody wants to live with pests! Insects and rodents can contaminate food, damage homes, and make allergies and asthma worse. Chemicals people use to get rid of pests also cause problems. Pesticides can cling to carpets, furniture, and other surfaces, and many are dangerous to people and pets. The Poison Control Center takes about 1,000 reports of accidental pesticide poisonings or exposures every year – half of them to children under five. What Are People Doing Wrong? Many tenants, landlords, and pest control professionals make the same mistake: they turn to pesticides first. But chemicals kill only a small number of pests. Pests can become resistant, so the poison no longer kills them and their offspring. Pesticides – chemicals that kill pests – are often unnecessary. When they are needed, only safer products should be used. Why This Guide Works Good pest control gets to the root of...

Biology Influence of One Environment Factor Onto the Morphology of the Oak Tree (Queveus Species).

...the ones that grew under sun? Hypothesis My hypothesis is that those leaves from the tree that has been growing under the sun have longer length than those which were growing under shade. Since here the independent variable is the amount of sunlight, so one oak tree grew up under shade while another one grew up under sunshine; the tree that grew under shade would lack sunlight so it try harder to get more sunlight, therefore, it would grow larger leaves to own more area and get a bigger chances for sunlight to hit on them. On the other hand, the tree that was growing under the sun should have smaller leaves due to the fact that they did not need to force themselves to grow lager for getting sunlight. Variables Independent variables: independent variables are the variables that we change. Here in my investigation the independent variable is the amount of sunlight these trees got. One of the trees should have been growing under shade or at least have been growing under much less amount of sunlight than the other one (because we can not make sure that the tree grew in complete shade). Another tree should have been growing under a large amount of sunlight. Dependent variables: in this task, i investigate how long leaves’ central veins are according the amount of sunlight that trees got. Therefore, the dependent variable is the length of leaves’ central veins. Control variables: To make sure the investigation goes on well, we need to control several variables...
