Job Shadowing In Theatre

For my second job shadow I job shadowed Jonah Brindley, who is the Production Manager and Sound guy at the Tower Theatre in Bend, Oregon. I chose to job shadow here because of my interest in theatre and so job shadowing one of the shows was at the top of my list of things to do. I chose the Tower Theatre as it is one of the only theatres and only had a choir concert happening on an available day for myself and Jonah.
The Tower Theatre is a 2 story building with a basement in Downtown Bend. During my job shadow was the Christmas parade also so I ended up parking 6 blocks away and hiking to the theater. The sound board operator is on the first floor sitting in back of house. The lights operator is in the booth upstairs which also doubles as an office space for technical staff. The building is actually very cramped as it was never intended to be a fully functional theatre but more of an orchestra hall, hence the shells being built into the walls. Due to the theatre culture in Central Oregon this would be impossible and so its entertainment type has to be varied to actually keep the theatre up and running. So what I liked most about this experience was sitting and watching the show as not only an audience member but to watch from a tech point of view. What I liked the least about my job shadow was apparently Summit High School was there to film the performance. The kids were very disrespectful to the audience and the theatre itself. They got in the way a lot and distracted from the performance. They actually at one point hit an audience member on accident and I had to tell them off. Since I was sitting next to them it made me seem like I was with them and some people actually shot me dirty looks for when they did something, even though I was just sitting
