Johnny Cash, also known as The Man in Black, was a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and last but not least, a legend. Cash was born on February 26, 1932, in Arkansas into a poor farming community; he later went on to join the Air Force in 1950. Upon his discharge, his music career began. He had many struggles and successes along the way and made many significant musical contributions to American Popular Music. Growing up Johnny Cash, whose name was actually J.R. Cash, spent much of his time working out on the family farm. He did not live an easy life so one way to escape all the hardship was music. Cash grew up hearing his mother’s folk and hymn ballads along with the working music coming from the people out in the fields. Cash began to write his own music at age twelve. His mother, seeing his love and gift for music, scraped up all the spare money they had for J.R. to take music lessons. However, after three …show more content…
Phillips gave in, but upon hearing their music he told them he liked their sound but not their gospel driven song choice and for them to come back when they had an original song ←that would appeal to a broader crowd. Shortly after this, the group began working on the song “Hey Porter,” which was written by Cash. When they went back to present for Philips, they also played another song, “Cry, Cry, Cry,” which he liked therefore signing Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two. In May 1955, “Hey Porter” was released and a short year later “Cry, Cry, Cry” peaked the BillBoard Charts at number fourteen.
Johnny Cash achieved true fame in 1956, when he wrote “I Walk the Line” which took over number one on the country music charts and sold over two million copies. A year later, Cash released his debut album, Johnny Cash with His Hot & Blue Guitar then followed that up with chart toppers including, “Don’t Take Your Guns to Town” and “Ballad of a Teenage

14 Movies Analyzed and Reviewed

...Out of Africa is a good example of great cinematography. The story is somewhat of a love story. Personally, I found the story line to be okay at best. But, I always get captivated at the filming. The entire movie was shot on location in Kenya; and while more difficult to do it paid off in this movie. You get so caught up in looking at the scenery, that the slow advancement of the plot can be tolerated. There is a great scene where Robert Redford and Meryl Streep are out and there is a lion looking their way. He tells her not to worry because he will protect her. The next second, a lion heads their way, and she has one chance to shoot. Of course, she doesn’t miss. But the way this scene is filmed, you feel like you are there; you can see how you feel safe, and all at once, it changes. The movie also makes good use of three-dimensional arrangement of people. There are many scenes where there are several people in one scene. But, the way they are arranged makes it easy to look at and get a good sense of what Africa feels like. I would also mention that the costumes help to have a realistic feel of Africa. Meryl is in chinos and light-weighted cotton tops most of the time. This movie could be turned into a Banana Republic advertisement; and, that is exactly the feel costumes should have for a movie. 007 Casino Royale was a good continuation of the Bond series. This is the start of Bond’s career as a 007 agent. It had elements for the old Bond fans, as well as for the newcomers...

If You Knew Me

...I skate because not many girls do this sport. I’m also sponsored by this new company called SK8GRL. Usually I go to the skate park every one in a week. I skate with my friends, and they encourage me to do better. I also, am teaching my neighbor how to skate because she always looks up to me, as if I were her sister and it makes me feel happy. Though I’m sponsored, it doesn’t really mean that I’m really good, I still need to practice to get better than I am. Another, activity that I love to do is play my guitar and sing. I used to go to guitar lessons, but then I quit because they weren’t teaching me correctly. In the fifth grade, I entered in the talent show, and I sang and played on guitar, Ring Of Fire by Johnny Cash. My neighbor, Kirsten Proffit also plays guitar and she sings. She has her own CD. When I grow up, I want to be just like her. Now that I’m in the seventh grade, I’m in choir, and I absolutely love it! When I get into high school, I want to sign up for choir again. That’s why I love to sing and play guitar. Lastly, another thing you would know about me is that my mom is very important to me. She is the most important person to me in the whole entire world! We are very close to each other, and I love to talk to her. I can tell her anything, and I can trust her. I always baby sit the kids for her when she wants to get out of the house so she’ll be away from all of the...
