That’s new and informative for my learning. Another new thing that I learnt was that it can not be combined using a Taser gun better known as CEW(conducted electrical weapon. It can be really deadly. The pros about this weapon is that it helps the enforcer to control and capture the suspect. It distracts, disorientated, and incapacitate, allergic reaction, air purifying respirator. Less-Lethal Weapons Essay

...Less-lethal weapons, particularly electronic stun devices such as Taser, are marketed to offer unmitigated benefits for police and public safety. This claim is almost valid, yet with flaws. While those weapons are introduced to offer a safer alternative in comparison to firearms, their main intention is to incapacitate without causing permanent harm or death to the person (Heal, 1999), unlike firearms. Taser (2015) claimed that the purpose of their products are “to save lives”, “help keep officers and subjects safe”. They listed a study from Houston Police Department, who shows that their products reduced suspect injuries by 60% when their smart weapons were deployed. Although the less-lethal weapons are the ideal force below firearms, hence...

Stress Less

...Stress Less Stress is something that affects all of us everyday, from stress in school to stress in sports and everywhere in-between. There are many ways to manage stress as Margarita Tartakovsky M.S. informs us on in her article 5 Ways to Stress Less. Margarita highlights 5 different things we can do to reduce stress in our daily lives. The first way we can reduce is to reorganize. By reorganize she means for us to change or bad habits to healthy habits. By exercising more we don’t only feel better but we have more energy. She also says “ Physical wellbeing isn’t merely your health insurance, but your basic defense against stress”. By exercising you might not even get stress in the first place. Her second strategy against stress is to rethink. By rethinking you change from focusing on the bad or negative and focus on the positive. When you rethink you clear your mind of all the negative things like failing a test or not being smart enough and fill it with positive ones like you can pass this test. Another technique to reduce stress, which I think would help me the most in life, is to reduce the amount of things you are involved in. Because when you are involved in to many things that causes stress and can make fun activities you are involved in like sports to lose their appeal and not fun anymore. Everyday I wake up I look forward to active things like sports and working out but I have so much more like school and work it stresses me out before I get to even workout. Working...

The Less Attractive

...Christina Tellez English V01A Heather Aguailar 19 March 2014 Women- “the less attractive” In today’s society, women are held to an extremely unfair standard. Women are perceived through an image of appearance not an image of character. If women do not meet a certain appearance standard they are looked down upon because they are what society considers “less attractive." Doesn’t matter what type of personality “the less attractive” has because most people won’t give “the less attractive” the time of day to find out, unless they are in some way socially interacted by work or school but even then they are usually looked at as a second option. What exactly is the deciding factor to be in an attractive standard as a woman? Susie Orbach, author of “Fat is a Feminist Issue,” states that women must have good looks and a pleasuring manner. Orbach states, “To do this she must look appealing, earthy, sensual, sexual, virginal, innocent, reliable, daring, mysterious, coquettish, and thin” (451). This standard of having to look attractive that the media portrays is sending women all over the world a wrong and unhealthy message. Fifty thousand per million Americans suffer from eating disorders, trying to fit in, not realizing the harms that it can bring. The media should portray a positive image like instead of trying to be attractive, just try to be healthy. Women are held to unhealthy circumstances, they are being targeted to make unhealthy body decisions because of what they...

Less Is More

...Less is more Prof. Sheena Iyengar believes that the need to choose from a variety of similar products leads to customer’s paralysis, in which the majority of customers decide to abandon the purchase. She made some experiment when supermarket offered visitors a taste jam. There were two tables with jam probes: one was presented 24 options, another just 6. A lot more people stayed to try jam, where there were more options, but only 3% of them have bought jam. To the stand with 6 kinds of jam less people came, but 30% of them decided to buy it. Iyengar gives four pieces of advice to avoid the problem of consumer paralysis. First, reduce the range. Paradoxically, this will make the selection process more enjoyable for customers and increase the number of sales. For example, Procter&Gamble Company removed their nine varieties of shampoo and thereby increased the number of sales by 10%. Second, concretization. Customers can not choose from a variety of options, because they do not understand the difference between the products. Third, divide the products into categories, so it would be easier to find and choose. And finally, starting with a less complicated choice. Range of products attractive to the buyer only in theory- in reality it tiring and hinders to make a choice. Any man who has had to watch a woman while choosing clothes from the closet, knows- the more clothes in her closet, the more likely she will say that she has nothing to wear. So as a girl and a customer...

Stress Less

...When was the last time your stress level topped the charts? What triggered it? For some it was a financial hardship; for others, a fight with your significant other. And then there are those who experience high levels of stress each and every time they take to the road. While we can’t always control the factors that bring on stress, we can certainly control the ways in which we react. The key to managing stress is understanding that stress is entirely a function of how we interpret events. We, as individuals, have the power to determine to what extent we will experience stress, or whether we will experience it at all. The next time you feel like pulling your hair out, take a time-out and try one of these simple, yet effective ways to reduce stress and renew your energy on a daily basis: 1. Start the day out right. Most of us get so caught up in our fast-paced lives that we forget to take time out for ourselves. Combat natural stresses inherent in this lifestyle by creating a ritual that makes you focus on what you want instead of what you fear—a ritual referred to as your Hour of Power. Keep your shoes by your bed and hit the ground moving to turn on your body and mind each morning. Start with some deep breathing, followed by a brisk walk to release the stress your body has built up. As you move, consciously cultivate the emotions in prayer that will give you an extraordinary life: gratitude, excitement about your future, or even compassion for those who may not be supporting...

...A Taser is a weapon used to incapacitate a suspect; It is a less-lethal weapon which temporarily stops a person through the use of electrical power which interferes with the body's neuromuscular system. This weapon enables police to deal with the violent distance. Taser is usually conducted in a Holster on the belt of an officer, along with other teams of security officers. It is clearly visible, being yellow and black. Taser can work on two levels, which are: psychological and physiological. Taser stands, is yellow and black. The sight laser allows the officer to locate the electric pistol and give a clear warning to the matter that has been subjected. Why Police Force Use Nonlethal Weapons

...enforcement, the Arma 100 is a simple yet effective projectile launcher. Legal all throughout the United States, the Arma 100 is a great substitute for a more common household handgun or shotgun. Nonlethal weapons really didn’t come into play into the police force till after the use in world war two. As a chemical compound sprayed behind enemy lines called agent orange used to kill crops. But the side effects where long lasting so was eventually discontinued. Eventually the police force picked up on the tactics and began using nonlethal weapons because it was faster and used less paper work than a lethal weapon. After a cop discharges a lethal round at an individual then he/she has to fill out a bunch of paper work and has to show up in court to defend their actions. In 2001 the United States Marine Corps revealed its development of a less-than-lethal energy weapon called the active denials system, a focused high frequency microwave device said to be capable of heating all living matter in the target area rapidly and continuously for the duration of the beam, causing transient intolerable pain but no lasting damage To be able to use a hand Taser you first have to be shot by one so you can feel what it feels like to be shot by one. The majority of the nonlethal weapons the police force uses has to once be used on them in order to carry. For instance an officer that has a mace container on...

Boundary Less Organizations

...Boundary less Organizations Dalia M. Davidson January 16, 2012 HCS/325 David R. Campbell Boundary less Organizations Many healthcare workplaces are becoming known for being boundary less organizations. Employees are connecting to the outside world with a wide variety of co-workers, consultants, off-site employees, and other resources. Boundary less organization is a contemporary approach in organizational design. It is an organization that is not defined by, or, limited to, the horizontal, vertical, or external boundaries imposed by a predefined structure. Boundary less organization combines the business team and network structures with the addition of temporariness. Many entrepreneurial and start-up businesses are boundary less organizations. When businesses are able to make quick changes to their environments and come up with solutions to an issue makes them boundary less organizations. There are two types of boundary less organizations. Inside of boundary less organizations teamwork and communication replace formal lines of authority. Barriers that once separated organizational members are resolved and team members react spontaneously to problems that may occur. Outside boundary less organizations the needs are met through outsourcing contracts and outside alliances that come together. These relationships are forever changing so they would look different day to day. Technology and the absence of hierarchy have allowed for the acceptance of boundary less...

It has very much less rotating parts than that of piston pumps or turbo pumps. So, it has less friction losses and there by it helps to improve the efficiency of the engine considerably. They can be easily installed in the rocket than turbopumps. Also,it reduces the weight of rocket. This article discusses the working , advantages of pistonless pump over turbopump. Pistonless pumps are 80-90% economical than that of piston pump or turbo pumps.Nasa has manufactured such kind of pump and tested it actually, and they found it works conveneiently. I NTRODUCTI ON: NASA have developed a Low cost rocket fuel pump which has Comparable performance to turbopump at 80-90% lower cost. Perhaps the most difficult barrier to entry in the liquid rocket business is the turbo pump. A turbo pump design requires a large engineering effort and is expensive to mfg. and test. Starting a turbo pump fed rocket engine is a complex process, requiring a careful of many valves and subsystems. In fact ,Beal aerospace...

Critical Issues Paper

...Critical Issues Paper Breanna Brown CJS/210 December 8, 2013 University of Phoenix Critical Issues Paper Law enforcement authorities are feeling the pressure of protecting and serving now more than ever. From the small, family-oriented community to the nation as a whole, police officers and other law officials are dealing with plenty of critical issues that require a lot of their attention and analysis. Luckily, we are in a time where technology has advanced significantly enough to become a valuable tool in law enforcement. Authorities have become more effective at patrolling, easy access to information and better ways to avoid using lethal force. Technology has certainly made it easier to deal with the critical issues they face. The dangers and issues that law enforcement have to face are plentiful, and both big and small. They have a responsibility to the general public as well as to themselves, and they have to balance these things out while enforcing the law and following the orders of their superiors. Police officers have to develop a relationship with their community if they are to effectively perform their duties. This is done by not being just a uniform in the eyes of the residents. When the residents realize that the police officers are as human as they and are there to help, they are more likely to trust them and include them in on what is happening in the community. The more aware the officer, the better he can keep a rein on crime. However, this can become...

Road Less Travelled

...First presenter Thesis deliberation week for this school year was more interesting than the ones I watched last year. One of the questions raised was how does this design concept be of help to a rehabilitation center, specifically to the patients. His defense was that, in his research, natural air and more open spaces can contribute to a better rehabilitation of the patients, this can be achieved with the use of passive cooling. One of the major concerns of the jurors was the overall exterior design of the building. Although the student’s objective was about achieving comfortably private building, his design did not speak well so. There were too much open spaces and the faced did not bring in a feeling of a rehabilitation center, rather a school or hotel. I think, although this does help, he could have reconsidered his concept and design a more rehabilitation center looking building. Second presenter The project is located on the new UST campus in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. His concept for the shape of his proposed building was the “Icthys” and the Dominican Cross of the Philippines. There were some few points that the presenter missed like labeling things such as the elevator on his plan and failure to provide an access road to the sewage disposal for solid waste, in order for trucks that will clean the sewage disposal. We must always remember to put into considerations details such as that. A concern raised by one of the jury was the budgeting of the materials used. It was pointed...
