Texting vs. Calling

...argument and a fight that demonstrate the effectiveness that both choices could have on the outcome of the specific situation. An argument is a verbal conversation, a fight of words. In an argument the individual would usually state claims or reasons to why their opinion is correct or superior to that of their antagonist. Discussing each others’ disagreements in a calm and orderly fashion could resolve the matter, however all arguments don’t end in this way. Some arguments can become less effective when those involved start yelling, cutting each other’s sentences short with interruption, and even becoming disrespectful with one another at times. This method of arguing is more ineffective because the communication being made between the individuals is unclear. Fighting is an actual physical altercation. In a fight both parties have had an issue of some sort in the past and one or both individuals figured the best way to resolve the issue would be to “duke it out.” A fight is founded on the basis of anger held towards the individual who disagrees. Communication and some form of organization are of importance when seeking a peaceful and sound agreement. The focal point of an argument is on the issue being considered, whereas the focal point of a fight is the actual individual. Ghandi once said, “An eye for an eye will only make the world...

Conflict Nd Resolution

...We define conflict as a disagreement through which the parties involved perceive a threat to their needs, interests or concerns. Every individual is unique and that very uniqueness will lead to conflicts in our relationship. You are in the middle of a conflict and resolution seems imminent, however, each time you approach the summit, the process stalls or goes into reverse. Why is this so? There are several factors that can delay or hinder the resolution process. The first one is Negative body language. A 'closed' posture (arms strapped across the chest), shaking one's leg, shaking one's head, tapping the floor with one's foot, sighing and grunting are all negative and do not help the process. Some men will apologise prematurely to get the woman 'to shut up' because 'I can't take the whole heap a argument'. This ploy may also be due to impatience. Some women will feign agreement while harbouring resentment and when the man thinks the hatchet is buried, the next conflict reveals that it was not buried deep enough. There may be times when there is a need to walk away from the conflict to prevent its escalation and to gather one's thoughts, but the decision to walk away must be thought out carefully as it could become a hindrance. On the flip side, persons may remain at the scene, but stew in silence. Besides that, Constant interruptions also can hinder conflicts resolution. If persons are serious about resolving conflicts, then there must be a concerted effort to allow the......

Personal Responsibility

...integrity has three characteristics: being honest, having values or morals, and being self-aware. I believe it is a conscious decision to admit ones mistakes by telling the truth whether or not someone is watching me. Values are used to create an individual’s moral compass telling me what is right or wrong. I feel that many values a person has is often constructed by a person’s culture as well as the individuals that raised them; I believe that a person always has the choice to reevaluate and change their morals as they choose. For a person to have self-awareness I consider if the individual is not only reliable and trustworthy but also possesses humility and are humble instead of a sense of indulgent pride. Another trait of personal responsibility is accepting consequences. I consider accepting consequences as having the courage to face the fear of what may happen because of a person’s poor choices or mistakes. I also feel that to effectively do this is to accept with grace and not contempt, and to be part of solution to the problems caused. To ensure personal responsibility an individual must understand the effects their choices or mistakes have on others. The effects not...

...possessed by the individual and the way he presents those assets to employers. In other words it is the process of self assessment of an individual which can be done by himself or by some other person or agency. Importance of Employability and Personal Skills - In the Recruitment and Retention of staff : While in the process of hiring and selecting individuals in an organisation, the management has to identify a certain selection criteria. ...There is a dilemma over the practicality of history. Nietzsche, in his book “On the Advantage and Disadvantage of History for Life,” attempts to make history practical for the individual. It is the unhistorical in which Nietzsche explains how individuals overcome and prevent life from meaninglessness. It counters the factual science of the historical, in which there is meaninglessness and abundance of facts. In order to compensate for an abundance of meaningless historical facts, the unhistorical identifies those facts interpretively or subjectively creating meaning among historical facts. To find the correct balance between the unhistorical and the historical, plastic power acts as a scale to find equilibrium. Nietzsche explains that the unhistorical has three themes in which historical facts are interpreted; monumental antiquarian, and critical history. They serve to broaden or weaken an individual’s horizon. They are the antidote to historical fact. Nietzsche identifies monumental history as way to emphasize historical facts as having great significance. The significance of monumental history is imitation. It is composed of an achievement a nation, society, or individual has completed, and the result of the achievement is symbolically interpreted as something that is worth emulating. They become models or morals that are imitated. There are ‘great moments’ in time which encompass a “demand for monumental history” (Nietzsche, 15). Individual’s according to Nietzsche,......

Copying Isn't Cool

...Before we actually start, id like you to take a look at us today, this hour, this minute, this very second. Are we at peace with ourselves or with the individual next to us?Yes. So are we a peaceful species at heart? Yes. Don't mention the Egypt crisis please, thats a different issue and its just a minor percentage of the worlds' population. Yes throughout out history we have fought like maniacs, but are we peaceful deep inside? I think we could be, its just environmental factors or lack of knowledge in my view, like religion, race, territory, wealth and of course the natural factors like envy and jealousy, etc. We need people who can sit still and be able to smile, who can walk peacefully. We need people like that in order to save us. You are that person. I am that person. We are the peace the world needs. We are angels experiencing humanity. You wouldn't know it by current world events, but humans actually evolved to be peaceful, cooperative and social animals. Early man was not an aggressive killer nor fighter, he was a talker. It was just the natural instinct for survival. If they didn't hunt they would end up being cannibals and that's definitely not peaceful. Our intelligence, cooperation and many other features we have as modern humans developed from our attempts to out-smart the predator. Although great freedom fighters did use weapons to free life but the explicit idea and technique of non-violence evolved by Gandhiji was miraculous. Non-violence had been the...

Individual Drinking Norms would be less likely to follow drinking norms. There were 574 college students, both men and women with an average age of 18.77. Each completed a measure of their social support level and what peer alcohol norms were. The participants were to keep a diary of their drinking habits everyday and used it to figure out each person’s drinking frequency and quantity. The hypothesis was proven and the individuals with lower social support were more likely to fall into the norms of drinking. However, there wasn’t a correlation between high social support and drinking norm behavior. In conclusion, if a social group is supportive the less pressure one feels to fall into the path of the norm. Within this article one strength was having the participants record each the drinking of each participant was measured by day. Not allowing any time to pass within each diary entry allows for a more consistent result as well as more confidence in that what the participants are keeping track of is more accurate. However, a weakness of this article occurs when the behavior of the individuals participating is not monitored. Allowing the students to record their own drinking behavior may allow for skewed results. Keeping track of how many drinks a person has can sometimes be based off of guessing instead of remembering precisely. The same thing can occur when having a mixed drink and...
