NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)
NLP is defined as a practical model of the processes we experience to experience reality.
NEURO refers to how our mind perceive the information through our five senses ( Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, Gustatory) LINGUISTIC refers to how we understand and interpret information through verbal and nonverbal communication PROGRAMMING refers to how we re-present the perceived message in our mind and how it manifests into behaviour. This model can then be analyzed to eliminate any problems faced by the individual. We can also model the positive or successful aspects of our behavior or those of another person, and reproduce that model and apply on our negative aspects in order to change or improve them.
HISTORY:
NLP originated when Richard Bandler, a student at University of California, Santa Cruz, was listening to and selecting portions of taped therapy sessions of the late Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls as a project for Robert Spitzer.[18][19] Bandler believed he recognized particular word and sentence structures which facilitated the acceptance of Perls' therapeutic suggestions. Bandler took this idea to one of his university lecturers, John Grinder, a linguist. Together they studied Perls' via tape and observed a second therapist Virginia Satir to produce what they termed the meta model, a model for gathering information and challenging a client's language and underlying thinking.[20]
The meta model was presented in 1975 in two volumes, The Structure of Magic I: A Book About Language and Therapy and The Structure of Magic II: A Book About Communication and Change, in which the authors expressed their belief that the therapeutic "magic" as performed in therapy by Perls and Satir, and by performers in any complex human activity, had structure that could be learned by others given the appropriate models. They believed that implicit in the behavior of Perls and Satir was the ability to challenge distortion, generalization and deletion in a client's language.
METHODS:
some Neuro-linguistic Programming methods have been designed by heavy influence from techniques used in other fields as well.

One of the methods included in Neuro-linguistic training is anchoring. This method relies on the fact that individuals usually form an anchor or make an association between an emotional state of mind or a feeling and a sight, sound, smell or touch. Using anchoring technique, a therapist trained in Neuro-linguistic courses can deliberately create an anchor for a patient, and then trigger the particular unique stimulus to help the patient access desired emotions or a target state of mind. Anchoring technique is said to have been derived from the family therapy of Virginia Satir and incorporated in Neuro-linguistic programming.

Another method of Neuro-linguistic Programming uses the swish method where a train of thought of an individual is modified such than undesirable behavior can be converted to a desirable one. A visual cue is usually used to get rid of unwanted habits such as smoking, drinking, addiction, over eating etc.. Audible sounds are sometimes added to the visual image to enhance the effect of the method. For example, an individual thinks of a negative aspect that he wants to improve, and then picturize himself to have a positive quality. Every time he comes across the negative image, he will swish it into the positive one, eliminating his fears, addiction or worries.
WHO USES NLP? :

Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Performance

...Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Performance The definition of social phenomena according to Markey (2007) is “including all behavior which influences or is influenced by organisms sufficiently alive to respond to one another”. Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a set of rules and techniques proposed for modifying behavior in achieving self-improvement, self-management and more effective interpersonal communication (Business Dictionary). The society is made up of people at different social levels. Most of the people at the top of the social ladder self-confess to the use of NLP to enhance their performance in their various endeavors and therefore in their social life. The term NLP is derived from how senses filter and process experience before storing it in the brain for the word neuro, the use of words, symbols and images create mental pictures (linguistic) and how desired behaviors and attitudes become ingrained (programming) (Business Dictionary). NLP is known to be useful in the enabling of people to develop behaviors such as to take effective action in spite of fear, to behave with confidence in any situation, to create positive, pervasive changes, to rapidly acquire skills and strategies and to achieve goals elegantly and easily. In this information age, communication is what industrial technology was in the technological age. The ability to communicate with people at different levels is a determinant factor in the achievement of success. Given the materialistic......

Emotional Repatterning

...INTRODUCTION I am a Hypnotherapist and throughout the years I have used everything from Neuro Linguistic Programming, Guided Imagery and Cognitive Therapy to Persuasion Tactics in order to assist my clients in ridding themselves of deep seeded phobias and limiting beliefs. I’ve seen the positive effects that these tools for change have had on people’s lives. Like any powerful tool in the right hands it can repair, but in the wrong hands it can destroy, it all depends on the intention and moral judgments of the user. My purpose for writing this book is to shine a light on those who choose to use these transformative tools for their own personal gain. Cults, are just some of the organizations which use countless techniques to get its members to commit themselves and take part in what may be harmful activities. The sum of these techniques constitutes what many professionals have come to call “Repatterning." It's also known as "thought reform," "hypnotic programming", "mental conditioning," and “mind control”. These techniques involve the systematic breakdown of a person's sense of self. Patty Hearst, heiress to the Hearst publishing fortune, became famous in the 1970s after she was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army, which has come to be known as a "political cult”. Hearst was locked in a dark closet for several days after her kidnapping and was kept hungry, tired, brutalized and afraid for her life while Cult members bombarded her with their anti-capitalist......

Communication in the Workplace

...Communication in the Workplace Regardless of the environment in which one works, communication is always vital and a key factor of success. Communication happens both physically and verbally and is absolutely essential if you want to inform someone about something. Communication has two main components, sending out a message to someone, and ensuring the message is received correctly to the other member of the conversation. It is therefore fair to say speaking and listening are vital to effective communication. I will talk about how effective communication is needed in my current position, as well as the future. Computer Science is the name of my degree choice. Once graduated, I intend on becoming an Information Technology Consultant. The position will be on a contract basis, meaning I will only be employed by a company for a period of time, until a certain project is finished. If my help is still needed within the organization, then an extension may be drawn. Otherwise I will move on and work with another organization. Although the role seems temporary, the pay will make up for this. The main thing that is carried forward is my experience. Alongside experience, my communication with the other members of the organization is extremely important, as a lot of jobs in this industry are promoted via ‘word of mouth’. If I am an effective communicator, I will be able to get a lot of recommendations and will be successful in the industry. If I am not an effective communicator......

Management

...Introduction Leadership management and NLP Mastering self-awareness, and in order to become an extraordinary communicator, the leaders create the attributes of great self-awareness, resourcefulness, flexibility in behaviour and effectiveness, which all together develop their innate resilience. All this is necessary to establish a clear thinking, focused mind, personal grooming, and behavioural psychology and NLP can be applied here. According to Tosey (2008) neurolinguistic programing means a systematic linkage between an individual’s mental internal experience (also referred as ‘neuro’), language (‘linguistic’) and the patterns of behaviour (‘programming’). According to Walker (2004), this can further be distributed into three components, including: • Neuro: based on the neurology of feeling and thinking • Linguistic: usage of language to persuade or influence others and ourselves • Programming: guidelines on how to achieve the set goals Self-awareness on the other hand is the ability to know, understand and assess our own self, specifically the flow of our feelings, implicit weaknesses, latent talent which is not yet groomed by us and the areas of our life, which require attention and change. We also need to evaluate if we are guided by our moral values, or some kind of conditioning has been shaping us. Likewise, we also need to examine if our thoughts and actions are in compliance with the principles and beliefs we possess in mind. The ability to self-awareness is......

...be a lot of reasons for memory loss, but a lot of times it comes from simply being so harried and stressed that it makes it nearly impossible to concentrate and focus on what you need to in order to create the memory path required. There are also many times that we limit ourselves in our beliefs as to what our abilities and capacities are to remember things. If you truly believe that you can’t remember things, you won’t. Does that sound too simple? How many times have you told yourself that you can’t remember a grocery list, or you KNOW you’ll forget names and you do? Next time try telling yourself that you CAN remember and chances are you will, or at least come closer than you ever have. This is all part of Neuro...

Introduction Xavier University Ateneo de Cagayan is one of the University that aims for a higher learning towards the students. It is also concerned on how students learn by means of their different learning styles, this only means that they learn differently and uniquely especially when they know what’s best for them. Students in Xavier University are being observed, guided and tested by the teachers in many ways like seeing, hearing and experiencing things first hand. Dunn(2000), defined learning style as the way a person processes, internalizes and studies new and challenging material. The cornerstone of this theory is the most people can learn and individuals have their own unique ways of mastering new and difficult subject matter. Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile are perceptual elements under the physiological element of the Dunn’s model. In this way, researchers would like to study the students unique learning styles, in what way are they good at and what’s the best learning style for them as an individual. B. The idiom according to which the human resource is the most valuable asset of an organization could not be more true. The predicament is what kind of assets do we need and for what kind of tasks? Intelligent people? Creative people? With certain skills or only good potential for the activity in case? Nowadays, the hiring process tends to be done without clearly differentiating between creative, intelligent and expert people, the coherence of the HR strategy being encumbered by the multitasking challenge of each organization and the more difficult achievement of a comfortable market position. Elixir

...Elixir 2011 Sustainable Success to futuristic approach MR. HARISH BIJOOR: Marketing Approach Sustainability is a movement. Sustainable marketing is all about needs, desires and wants. Marketing is all about practice. It is a communication between you and your customers. Consumer is a morph. There is an impact of recession on the market. Be like the consumer and plan accordingly. Marketers don’t know their customers any more. Brand managers are depending on intermediaries for information, they are focusing on branding and advertising. In such they are building walls between themselves and target segments. Some of the theories suggested by Mr. Harish Bijoor are as follows 1. Get off the script: According to him modern retail store does not occupy less then 5.5% of market it is the Kirana stores that accommodate around 92%. So sustainable marketing is all about focusing in unorganized sector. Let the product speak and not the marketing. Eg: Pizza Hut (Keep the smile going), Jet Flight 2. Trysumers: It means a new consumer. Such consumers try everything before they buy. 3. Demand generation has taken a back seat: “Why buy when you can borrow”. – Proscmer Movement. People nowadays have started considering installments (emi) as an option to try a product and if it suits the consumer needs it will buy. So marketers have to create a demand in order to sustain with the competition. 4. Marketing the sublime and the ridiculous: Marketing hype is distributing......
