What would you do if a crazy Russian was hunting you in a jungle on a hidden island? The Russian man named Zaroff is hunting Rainsford in the jungle like a game sport. After going through all of it, Rainsford will not hunt again because his body has gone through a lot of suffering and stress and he also has no reason to hunt again because he has plenty of supplies to live on the island. To begin with, Rainsford never wanted to hunt humans because he thought it was inhumane. Zaroff said, "I want to show you my new collection of heads. Will you come with me to the library”. Rainsford automatically denied his invitation and went straight to bed. Just the thought of seeing dead humans made Rainsford sick to his stomach. When the general said “ it isn’t here naturally, he has to stock the island”(Connell 36) Rainsford began to get frustrated with the general because he thought that forcibly removing a person is unlawful and not morally right. Rainsford also knew that the humans on the island stood no chance against the general because he was experienced and mad. Rainsford did not agree with the general when he said that ‘he has done a rare thing” because Rainsford knew that the general was clearly a lunatic. …show more content…
As soon as Rainsford arrived at the island he noted how the island was tropical. Since the island is tropical he would have plenty of water because tropical areas usually get a lot of rain. Also, he noted how the island was very calm, which means that Rainsford would not be bothered since he has already killed the threats. This will give Rainsford time to set up a plan of how to get off the island or plan a life on the island. Rainsford also “sipped his wine”(Connell 24) and had the guns of the generals. Rainsford will be able to use the guns general once owned to hunt if he decides

Compare And Contrast Rainsford Vs Zaroff

...In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, there are two characters named Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff. Only one of those two characters is civilized, but in the beginning of the story they both seem to be civilized. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, civilized is marked by well-organized laws and rules about how people behave with each other. Using this definition, Rainsford can be determined the more civilized person compared to Zaroff. Rainsford is more civilized because he refuses to kill another person, he treats other people appropriately, and he uses the best of his abilities to get out of a bad situation. First of all, Rainsford is more civilized than Zaroff because he refuses to kill people...

Analysis of the Most Dangerous Game

...insatiable curiosity and a love of danger. To begin with, by looking closely at the main characters and their actions, I found a small part of myself in each of them. When Rainsford heard gunshots from the yacht, he jumped up onto the ship's railing. My initial response was, "Why would you do such a thing when no one is there to help if you fall?" I believe that this was my logical, sensible reaction. However, if I look at the situation with a sense of curiosity I find that I would have done the same thing. I think this is because, even though I've always tried to be a responsible, reasoning person, I have always had a desire to be carefree and daring. I think that want comes from movies I've seen in the past and books I've read in which the female characters were adventurous and lived for danger. I can remember times when I would finish reading a book, perhaps, and try to be just like the adventuring character. I can also look at General Zaroff, too, and see a hidden facet to my person. What I first thought of the General was that he was disgusting, evil, and had no respect for human life. I thought, "Oh my gosh, what if there really are people like this in the world?" However, when General Zaroff laid all the cards on the table and stated his purpose, hunting people, specifically Rainsford, I was oddly intrigued. I was frustrated with myself for being...
