...REALIZATION Moral Development To my realization about the topic of moral development that was discussed in the class highlighted me as a person. There to know that there are people having the same aspects as what I do. As we grow we develop ourselves a person that which we are responsible to it. From our innocent minds, our parents were the first one in guiding and teaching us the good morals. As we grow we get connections to our surroundings especially to our fellow human. Our surroundings are one of the most influential models in developing ourselves as a person. We can't avoid such moral if we focus ourselves to such things like the ones around us. Avoiding is hard if you find it hard to understand and discipline yourself. In developing ourselves, discipline is the most important for us to learn to have because when we are disciplined we have control of ourselves. It is the time where students learn to break the status quo but it is also the time where we learn to prioritize what we want the most. Indeed, high school isn’t all about happiness alone but it is about learning, acquiring friends, excelling and most importantly being Persons of Character and Competence. Being a transferee and freshmen student is truly hard. I know no one except my previous classmates, I am not familiar with the school’s facilities and I feel like all my teachers are the terror ones. If I remember it right, on my first week of classes I sometimes cry secretly during religion time, why? I also don’t know. ...Nagsisinungaling nga lang ba si Rizal noong sabihin niyang, “Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan?” 7pm. I was waiting for a jeepney to ride on my way home. There were lots of people in the waiting area, probably because they want to go home soon too and get away from the busy street. The jeepney I was waiting for arrived 10 mins after. The jeep was almost full of passengers and full of baggage too. There were 6 old women at the rear end of the vehicle, evenly seated at either side. Between them are bags of vegetables, raw meat, and the like, so much that it made half of the jeepney almost full and seemed to be a courier of goods. They’ve been in the jeep for a long time, I presume, for they were all sleeping and appeared to be so exhausted. Beside them was a man, awake but also sleepy, whom I think was with the elders. In front of him was a sales lady (I was not sure if she really is a sales lady but she looks like one) who seems to be oblivious of what’s happening around her. I sat beside this lady. Beside me, near the “door” of the jeep were two kids. I later realized that the other kid in front of them is their friend too. These kids were the ones who are seated at the end seats. Every time I am alone, I keenly observe things and people around me. During the trip, the other kid (the one on the opposite side) caught my attention. In Oates’s We Were the Mulvaneys, the speaker Judd Mulvaney looks back to a time when he experienced such an epiphany. By utilizing an introspective first person perspective, detailed imagery, and varied syntax, Oates characterizes Judd as a maturing, reflective, yet conflicted child.
