Sudden Realizations

...Nagsisinungaling nga lang ba si Rizal noong sabihin niyang, “Kabataan ang Pag-asa ng Bayan?” 7pm. I was waiting for a jeepney to ride on my way home. There were lots of people in the waiting area, probably because they want to go home soon too and get away from the busy street. The jeepney I was waiting for arrived 10 mins after. The jeep was almost full of passengers and full of baggage too. There were 6 old women at the rear end of the vehicle, evenly seated at either side. Between them are bags of vegetables, raw meat, and the like, so much that it made half of the jeepney almost full and seemed to be a courier of goods. They’ve been in the jeep for a long time, I presume, for they were all sleeping and appeared to be so exhausted. Beside them was a man, awake but also sleepy, whom I think was with the elders. In front of him was a sales lady (I was not sure if she really is a sales lady but she looks like one) who seems to be oblivious of what’s happening around her. I sat beside this lady. Beside me, near the “door” of the jeep were two kids. I later realized that the other kid in front of them is their friend too. These kids were the ones who are seated at the end seats. Every time I am alone, I keenly observe things and people around me. During the trip, the other kid (the one on the opposite side) caught my attention. What he’s doing was, he draws the attention of persons from vehicles at the back of the jeepney we are riding in, then flashes a dirty finger to......

Idealism in Education

...the spiritual world is to know the reality of mind and soul. It is a sort of self - realization - the main aim of human life. (ii) Ideas are more important than objects: Knowledge of mind and soul can be obtained through ideas only according to Idealist. Therefore, they have given more importance to ideas over the objects and material things. To them, ideas are the ultimate Reality whereas objects die out sooner or later. In the Ideas are embedded all the realities and ultimate entities of the material world. ..2.. (iii) Importance of Man over Nature: Man is more important than material nature as per the philosophy of idealist, it is because man can think and experience about material objects and material phenomena. Hence, the thinker or the one who experiences is more important than the object or the phenomena experienced. Man is endowed with intelligence and a sense of discrimination. Thus, he is not a slave of the environment as animals are, but he moulds and transforms the environment for his own good and welfare of the society. In a nutshell, man creates his own world of virtue and higher levels of art in different areas are achieved through his creativity. (iv) Faith in Spiritual Values: Idealists stress the point that the Prime aim of life is to achieve spiritual values. They are - Truth, Beauty and Goodness. These spiritual values are undying and permanent. The realization of these values man rises higher and higher in the moral plane till he attains......

What Is the Highest Good?

...human, there is no chance to create one uniform formula or recipe of living a good live. However, we surely can refer to it as to the process of self-striving on the way of constant live and self-improvement. It is clear that every person approaches this process differently. Sure, the actions may vary in their form, but not in their purpose. This distinctive human phenomenon is called self-realization. In fact, implication of all human actions and aspirations is actuation of this process that subsequently leads to incarnation of changes necessary to satisfy certain needs and desires. The ultimate state of highest good can be only achieved through realization of internal potential, physical and psychological independence, and ability to reveal an authentic self. Therefore, this process and its performance constitute the foundation of the good life, serving as the indispensable basement bricks in the monument of human existence. What is more, it is aimed not to show how differently the goodness may be achieved, but to demonstrate the common underlying idea of all the human actions. Self-realization is the core of the “living good” concept; however, some limitations should be imposed on this process in order to allow everyone to perform their missions properly and harmlessly. The greatest and most important restriction is ethics. Individual should carefully consider not only self-benefits of his behavior, but also its impacts and further consequences on surrounding communities......

...the realization of this right.  It must concretize its commitment to promote, protect and fulfill human rights in its development plans. Politically, according to the Right to Education Project (2008), right to education is also an enabling right.  It “creates the “voice” through which rights can be claimed and protected’, and without education people lack the capacity to ‘achieve valuable functionings as part of the living.”[i] The state is therefore, impelled to muster political will for the realization of this right.  This is the framework by which we shall revisit the state of Philippine Education in the year 2011. ...Christine Joyce I. Calingo IV- Archdiocese of Jaro Reflection on my High School Years Most people would say that HIGH SCHOOL is one of the best and happiest experience a person could have. It is the time where students learn to break the status quo but it is also the time where we learn to prioritize what we want the most. Indeed, high school isn’t all about happiness alone but it is about learning, acquiring friends, excelling and most importantly being Persons of Character and Competence. Being a transferee and freshmen student is truly hard. I know no one except my previous classmates, I am not familiar with the school’s facilities and I feel like all my teachers are the terror ones. If I remember it right, on my first week of classes I sometimes cry secretly during religion time, why? I also don’t know. It’s kind of fun having flashbacks of those memories and now, all I can do is laugh at my silly deeds. But I must say that my freshmen year had helped me really cope up with PCC’s curriculum. As I leap a year higher, I got more accustomed to the school especially with the activities. I found myself enjoying the Intramurals, the Foundation Day and a lot more. However, I’ve learned to balance my extra-curricular activities with my studies. And unexpectedly, I was able to qualify in the Homogeneous class. At first, it was tough on my part for I can......

...REALIZATION Moral Development To my realization about the topic of moral development that was discussed in the class highlighted me as a person. There to know that there are people having the same aspects as what I do. As we grow we develop ourselves a person that which we are responsible to it. From our innocent minds, our parents were the first one in guiding and teaching us the good morals. As we grow we get connections to our surroundings especially to our fellow human. Our surroundings are one of the most influential models in developing ourselves as a person. We can't avoid such moral if we focus ourselves to such things like the ones around us. Avoiding is hard if you find it hard to understand and discipline yourself. In developing ourselves, discipline is the most important for us to learn to have because when we are disciplined we have control of ourselves. There we have already the respect, good morals, decision making, budgeting money, time management and choosing what is right to consider than wrong. We can never be perfect as God, but as a person we have the ability to make ourselves perfect in a reason that we commit mistakes and our responsibility is to try to do it again until we have done such a mistake a wonderful success. IDENTIFYING PERSONALITY This activity made me think again about what makes a person to have a certain attitude, values or all over let's call it a personality that gives them opportunity to hurt others, like to......

Comparison Between Short Stories

...after she loses her innocence, giving her an advantage to insert different events and instances in relation to her story that enables her to let the reader’s understand it easily. The narrator uses this advantage; describing multiple mini-stories of the different moments she had that linked to her main point, showing the process of the gradual realization. Contrasting, Nobody Said Anything is told just as the main character comes to his realization. This story is told in the span of one day, as the narrator describes many insignificant and trivial details that do not aid in telling his story (such as packing a sandwich). He does not have the advantage that the previous narrator had, as he was just describing his day, not knowing that he would come to a realization by the end. It limited him by not already knowing that he would come to realize something, meaning he did not have examples of other instances that can support his story. The contrasting narrative element gives Nobody Said Anything a disadvantage, as it is more difficult for a reader to understand the story, forcing them to read carefully to understand how he came to his realization. Meanwhile, it is much easier to read When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine, as the narrator was able to reveal her message by giving several related examples to support it....

But the readers who fathom the depths of her creativity can realize that active forces are working, reforming and psychologically molding the characters in her novels. Tess of the D’Urbervilles is one of the most famous novels of Thomas Hardy. In this novel we see a tragic end of Tess with an ultimate realization. Great Expectations was one of Dickens’ best-known novels and was written in 1860.
