Her most notable cases have inspired plenty of frightening flicks, including 1979's "The Amityville Horror" (as well as the 2005 remake) and next week's scream-inducer, "The Conjuring." At "The Conjuring" press junket in San Francisco, Yahoo! Movies recently had the chance to speak with Lorraine Warren, now 86. We asked Warren how the 1971 case of the Perron family in Harrisville, Rhode Island, which inspired "The Conjuring," compares with the horror that the Lutz family experienced in Amityville, New York back in the mid '70s. It was absolutely horrible," she said. "It followed us right straight across the country. I don't even like to talk about it. I will never go in the Amityville house ever again. Fear of life after death is also an explanation for those who believe in ghosts. The idea of ghosts gives them support in their belief that when you die your body is not just lying in the dirt. There is also proof that sleep paralysis can make you believe in the paranormal. During a sleep paralysis episode, the person affected can become suddenly paralysed and experience strange hallucinations. Though the sound of this sounds scary and painful, the result is harmless. Sleep paralysis can also be related and possibly explain the happenings of the Amityville Horror that happened in 1974, where a man shot his entire family because he felt beings inside his house telling him he must do so. The effects of sleep paralysis match up and can explain why the father heard voices and possible saw figures throughout his house (French, 2014). Responses to haunted houses can be caused from anything in the surrounding area, but in most cases the experience is far more explainable than restless spirits. ...really difficult for me. I have always been an avid reader and have always loved so many different authors. There are many questions I have about authors, their works and literature in general. For this paper I choose to write about someone who is a little more modern day; someone who everyone would be familiar with, regardless of whether they are a fan or not. I choose to write about the very famous author, Stephen King. Stephen King has always fascinated me, not only as an author but as a person. This is a man who seems to have an imagination that is never ending, with a soul and mind so dark, is it beyond compare. How else could you write and publish over 60 horror books? All of which are unique, intense, and ultimately terrifying. My question is, who is this person and what is it that inspires this creativity and horror? As a child, I grew up in a household of readers. There was never a time I that I can recall my mother, father, brothers, or myself not having one or more books that each of us were reading.
