The police are responsible for the safety of the city; it is their job. They need to keep the peace of the city and rid the city of evil-doers. Even though that is what the police must do, there are cases where they do the opposite. There are police who use force on civilians, shoot defenseless people and arrest innocent people. They are handed guns, Tasers and batons to use to protect society from harm. They have a huge responsibility to uphold and a heavy burden to carry. But nowadays, there are policemen that stray away from the task at hand and hurt the people they are suppose to protect. They use force on peaceful protesters, instigate commotions themselves, disobey their own rules and occasionally even killing civilians on accident or on purpose. A year ago, Japanese student Ryo Oyamada was killed in a hit-and-run accident, according to New York Daily News. The car that ran over Ryo was reported to be a police car by several eye-witnesses, and they had also noted that the car was going at 70 mph without the headlights on. This is one of the finer cases of police brutality. Society had been shown that police brutality is a serious offence, but there are, unfortunately, mixed reactions. Some had started petitions and awareness campaigns; alas, some had chose to ignore these happenings and others don’t even have the slightest idea that police brutality is a crucial problem. Cases of police brutality get little coverage from the media and others have thought the hurtful actions of the police to be the
