Given the language function and learning task identified above, students will use key vocabulary they may or may not have used before such as stage direction, script, and monologues to write their comparison paper. The students will also need the discourse that will take place about the play and live performance for the comparison paper. For discourse, the students will use the guided reading questions to guide the discussions the next day. As students end the lessons each day, the Ticket Out the Door will require the students to also utilize the vocabulary learned to receive full credit.]

The Level Up Tutorial is a form of formal assessment. I can view how well each student does and can see what we will need to discuss as a whole class. The Ticket Out the Door is a form of informal assessment to see what they students learned from the lesson as well. Lesson 2, has a quick write as an exit ticket. The exit ticket will have students use prior knowledge and information from the lesson to make an inference. The students will also anticipate the drama. Lesson 3’s informal assessment will be in the form of a quick write to start class as a way to refresh students’ memory and show me if they understand each character. The students will also complete a Venn Diagram to demonstrate their understanding of comparing before writing the comparison paper.
