P8 - Present information on how the media reports current affairs involving public services.
The media reports on events and tasks that the Public Services take part in. They can portray the Public Services to their advantage and on how they want citizens to see them.
They can portray them by editing videos, using images and videos in a specific order to show citizens that the Public Services doing the right think or to present them doing something wrong. This could be something like a public service retaliating to another incident when the two incidents were not related at all.
How the media reports
Members from the media are not only members of the public; they can affect the way the Metropolitan Police Service is portrayed.

Statutory and Non-statutory organisations work together to provide support to citizens in many different ways. The Public Services that these two organisations include are the Police Service, Fire Service, Ambulance/Paramedic Service, The Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance, Mountain Rescue, Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI and the Coast Guard.
Statutory Organisations
Statutory organisations are run and funded by the government. They include three Public Services, the Police, Fire and Ambulance services. All these three services have a duty to save and protect people/citizens and each has their own roles and responsibilities.
The Police Service’s duty is to keep the Queen’s peace, to firmly uphold the law, to protect, reassure and help the community, to bring justice to those who break the law and to act with reasonable and fair
