Some necessary alterations must be made prior to approval of the bedroom adjacent to the living room. Upon entering the bedroom, distance between the bed and the dresser is scarce. The wheelchair would have difficulty getting past the first turn. Much like the beginning of the room, there is a lack of floor space throughout the entire room due to excess clutter and furniture. Rounding the next corner, there is little space between the foot of the bed and the desk. Boxes are piled up on the far side of the bed against a tall book shelf. It needs to be expanded to 32 inches minimum. Upon entering the bathroom, the toilet is on the left wall with a cabinet on the top left in the corner of the wall. The sink is beside the toilet on the left wall. The toilet will need to be taken out and a new Barnum Dual flush corner toilet with seat will go on the left under the cabinet. The cabinet will be taken out to create more space in the bathroom. The shower is directly across from the main door. To make the bathroom wheelchair accessible, the bathtub will remain in its spot. The patient will have to purchase a medical universe sliding transfer chair to allow access to the shower. The bathtub in the bathroom is currently 29 inches long and 53 inches wide. There is enough room to take out the existing sink and put a new sink in. The sink that is in there has a cabinet under it that wouldn’t allow the wheelchair to go under it. The new sink is a porcelain wall mount that is rectangular. The new sink will allow the patient to pull up to the mirror and do grooming/hygiene activities independently. The sink will be placed on the right side of the wall as you enter the bathroom. A new door will be installed on the left side of the bathroom between the toilet and shower. The washer and dryer are stacked on the back side of the laundry room. Both the washer and dryer need to be on the ground, so they can be easy assessable for the patient. The freezer is only thirty inches from the dryer and that is not enough for the wheelchair to get through, so the patient needs to buy a smaller freezer. Another way to solve this is remove the sink from the room and move over the washer and dryer closer to the door. The rails and shelves need to be lowered enough to be arm’s length for the patient. The clutter that is in the floor needs to be put up on a table to allow more room for the wheelchair to get around the room. Items not frequently used need to be put up in a higher location to save room for the lower portion. The patient will need extra help for items that are on a high shelf. The door going outside will need a threshold, so the patient can get in and out of the house with the
