Marketing Research of Consumer Preferences in the Selection and Purchase of Coffee

Arabica, Robusta, liberica... These words caress the ears of any fan of coffee. Ground or soluble in granules or granulated? Choose what kind of coffee consumers, and what criteria play an important role when buying? We conducted a study on this tonic drink. The survey was conducted among Muscovites aged 18 to 65 years who buy coffee for yourself or for your family at least once in two months. The sample size of 300 respondents.

As shown by the survey results, about 60% of Muscovites do not buy coffee at all. Every fourth Muscovite buys coffee at least once in two months. Another 14% gain and drink coffee less than once in two months.

Most consumers of coffee (80%) buy this drink for myself 1-2 times a month. On average, consumers coffee drink two cups a day.

Regarding the frequency of consumption, the majority of respondents (69%) drink coffee (1-3 times a day. Three times a day, drink coffee 16% of respondents, while the share of Muscovites, consuming it every 2-3 days and 1-2 times per week, accounted for 7%.
Three-quarters of respondents buy their coffee from "traditional" retail – supermarkets, grocery stores and markets. It is worth noting a high enough proportion of consumers who buy coffee in hypermarkets, – it is 33%. Also, a relatively large proportion of consumers – 12% – acquire coffee in specialized shops or in specialty Department stores.
Consumers prefer to buy instant coffee relatively small package volume (less than 400g). Only 13% are buying more coffee in 400g packages. Consumers of organic coffee packaging volume of 210-400 grams. They are the most popular. They bought half of the respondents. But there is a tendency to purchase the packages of large volume (from 410gr. Or more). 6% of consumers purchase organic coffee packaging of more than 1 kg.
