How Great Companies Think Differently

Tradicionalmente, economistas y financieros han argumentado que el único propósito de los negocios es hacer dinero y mientas más mejor. Grandes compañías trabajan para hacer dinero, por supuesto, pero en sus elecciones de como hacerlo, ellos piensan acerca de construir instituciones duraderas. El autor describe 6 maneras de como grandes compañías usan su lógica institucional y que cambia radicalmente el comportamiento organizacional y de liderazgo.

1. Un propósito común. La globalización incrementa la velocidad de cambio; muchos competidores de más lugares producen sorpresas e impactos. Una economía competitiva global intensa toma un lugar de alto valor en innovación el cual depende de la imaginación humana, motivación y colaboración. 2. Propósito de largo plazo. Propósitos y valores son el corazón de la identidad de una organización, y ellos pueden guiar a las personas en su esfuerzo de encontrar Nuevos artefactos para servir a la sociedad. 3. Compromiso emocional. El punto no es la palabra por si sola pero el proceso de nutrir el dialogo que permita mantener el propósito social al frente de la mente de cada uno y asegurar que los empleados usen los valores de la organización como una guía para las decisiones del negocio. 4. Hacer del público un socio. Los accionistas externos están interesados tanto en la contribución de las corporaciones a la comunidad local como en su transacción de capacidades. Al mismo tiempo, las grandes compañías quieren tanto una familia extendida de relación duradera y un asiento en la mesa de políticas que afecten el negocio 5. Innovación. La articulación de un propósito más amplio que hacer dinero pueden guiar estrategias y acciones, abrir Nuevos recursos de innovación, y ayudar a las personas a expresar sus valores de la compañía y personales en el trabajo diario. 6. Auto-organización. Las grandes compañías asumen que ellos pueden confiar en las personas y que pueden descansar en sus relaciones, no solo en reglas y estructuras. Estas son más enfocadas a tratar a los empleados como profesionales auto determinados que coordinan e integran actividades por auto-organización y generación de nuevas ideas.

Todas estas ideas son usadas actualmente en mi empresa, la cual pensando en que es una empresa global donde se interactúa diariamente con más de 19 países y más si consideramos los países de nuestros clientes, se necesita tener valores muy arraigados para poder ser auto determinados y poder llevar lo que nuestra organización quiere a través de la diversidad. Un ejemplo del uso de esto en mi organización, es que una de las plantas esta exactamente en el centro de un vecindario, por lo que tienen que ser muy cuidadosos de la contaminación, sin embargo también son muy participativos en las actividades de la sociedad que no existe ninguna queja de parte de este vecindario en cuanto a tener una compañía de fundición en el centro de su vida.
