I chose to write about Tara Donovan because I find her work so beautiful. I was amazed that her pieces look so like natural forms, yet they are made from simple materials, including tape, plastic cups, index cards, and straws. Her piece made clear straws that resembles coral, must have taken a lot of time and patience to complete. Donovan must have a tolerance for tedious work because her sculptures are comprised of small materials that are sculpted to resemble nature. After viewing Tara Donovan’s pieces and visiting the Shrem museum, I realized the importance of lighting and setting in art.
