...CHAPTER 3: QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS 1 Why do some people pronounce SQL as “sequel”? Ans: Because of its naming history, SQL is developed from SEQUEL language, so some people pronounce SQL as “sequel”. 2 Why are the manipulation statements of SQL more widely used than the definition and control statements? Ans: Because only the database administrator uses the definition and control statements, while power users and analysts, who are the majority, use the manipulation statements. 3 Is the SQL standard supported in whole or in part? Briefly explain. Ans: The SQL standard is supported in part. Because of the size of the previous standard SQL-92 (contains more than 600 pages) and the current SQL: 1999 standard (contains more than 2,100 pages), there are multiple levels that can be supported. No vendor supports the entire SQL-92 standard now. Most vendors support a super/subset of the standard. With the new SQL: 1999 standard, vendor implementation will likely be more fragmented because of the size and scope of the standard. 4 How many levels of conformance does the SQL-92 standard have? Ans: The SQL-92 specification contained three levels: Entry SQL, Intermediate SQL, and Full SQL. Unfortunately, no vendor claimed conformance beyond Entry SQL although most vendors implemented some features in the higher SQL levels as well as providing proprietary SQL extensions. 5 How many levels of conformance do the SQL: 1999 standard have? Ans: The SQL: 1999 standard contains a single level of......

...1. Productivity. One of the early driving forces supporting the take up and use of computers were assertions that increased productivity could be realised, thus allowing us more time to attend to do other things. Indeed, the use of computers has transformed the workplace as we know it. It has driven down the cost of data processing, and the ease with which large volumes of data can be manipulated by and transferred between various units within the organisation. Moreover, this increasing processing power, along with the broad range of off-the-shelf and customised hardware and software that are available, have resulted in changing employer and client expectation of work quality and throughput both at the employee and organizational levels. 2. Collaboration. In situations where persons might not be in office physically, e.g. due to teleporting or offsite work assignments, and even to interact with clients, technology is offering a number of connectivity options that facilitate continued discussion and collaboration among work teams. Options can allow for real-time or non-real time interaction, and can also be integrated into specialist workspaces to allow access to and use of different tools and features. The word cloud below shows only a small sample of the collaboration tools that are available. 3. Resourcing. Separate and apart from the impact technology has been having on productivity, it is also changing the way businesses are resourced. Two key examples of this......

...Assignment 1 Sociological prospective Functionalist theorist Functionalism is a theory about the nature of mental states according to functionalism mental states are identified by what they do rather than what they are made of. Emile Durkheim was a French sociologist he's theory was that if some thing happens to disrupt the order of society then society must adjust to achieve a stable state, Durkheim's theory also suggests that the society is a system that relies on each other and if one part is disrupted it has an impact on the whole society and no one can function. An example of this that we can use may be Education , every one pays taxes so the money can be used to provide education for children once they have completed education they the go on to get a job this will then allow them to pay taxes in to the system for the next generation, but if this cycle was to go wrong and the child becomes a criminal the system aims to give them more education over time and they rehabilitate them back in society and they become tax payers again; The rules of society was created by' norms' and what he believed to be ethically right. Durkheim believed that bad behavior was needed in society and it was fairly normal in society and that it is needed in the social system for society to react about crime. Durkheim proposed that society is made up of a number of social institutions organized to complete certain functions or beliefs norms and values are learned from these......

...Assignment 2: A Complete Home Network Jonathan Scholl Strayer University CIS106 Professor Jamshid Haghighi June 7, 2016 A Complete Home Network Introduction: I believe this is way more than enough money for an entire home network, but it also comes down to what the needs of everyone in the household are. If you have gamers or those with workstations, then you’ll definitely need to take into consideration that you’ll need better than average hardware. But some family members may only need a simple notebook, tablet, or even their smart phone to connect to the internet. Most people enjoy streaming applications such as Hulu, Netflix, and Crunchyroll. Before you start, you need to figure out what the network will be used for and tailor it to the needs of everyone who uses it. For this example, I’m going to use my own family’s network. It’s a simple network that will most likely be sufficient for the average family. Starting out, you need to research the internet service providers (ISPs) in your area. These can range from large companies to small local companies. If you do a lot of video streaming and gaming, then you’ll want a fairly good connection speed. I’d recommend going with at least 20Mbps download and 5Mbps upload. The company we use is a local company called Forsyth CableNet. Hardware: You’re ISP can provide you with rental modems. I believe this to be a great option because modems can be costly to replace if they’re damaged. It usually means adding a...
