Adding Servers 2 The client/server network that you have now converted over to will benefit from Windows Server; I suggest either the 2003 or 2008 version. Windows Server 2003 is older but is still very reliable for the following reasons; “easy to deploy/manage/ and use, secure connected infrastructure, enterprise-class reliability/availability/scalability/ and performance, lower TCO through consolidation and the latest technology, create dynamic intranet and internet web sites, fastest development with integrated application server, work smarter by turning your file server into a powerful collaboration server, automate operations with script-based and policy-based management tools, increase document protection and availability via intelligent file storage, easy to find/share/ and reuse XML web services” (Microsoft Product Information, 2013). Windows Server 2003 is still great and used today but, 2008 is and newer version with added enhancements to its’ older 2003 version. Its’ enhances are “security, reliability, support for remote clients, and performance” (Dean, 2010). Windows 2008 offers a few different editions and I think the standard edition is all you need because it will allow for the data sharing your business needs and it will support your remote services. To incorporate your new servers into your network we have to” determine your networks IP addressing method, verify the hardware requirements, verify that your software is up-to-date, add a server” (Microsoft, 2013). Microsoft says it’s important to not disable your existing server until your wizard instructs you to do so because the wizard verifies the range of your IP addresses that are on your network at the time. To verify the hardware requirements the hardware must be able to run the Windows server you are trying to install. The hardware must be able to perform the roles you need to run your business like; print/file requirements, CPU, RAM, or throughput. That is just a few roles you need to verify the servers will be able to provide for your
Adding Servers 3 business to run successfully. Also the application you require for your business needs, you have to verify the hardware will provide you and your employees with appropriate requirements. Make sure that all of your software is up to date; drivers, firmware, network adaptor, external hard drives (if you have any), check for service packs and hotfixes. The final step is to add the servers to your network but there are a few things left to do first. Now you can set up the servers in Windows, configure the operating systems, run the connect wizard, synch to time clock with windows, and now you are finished (Microsoft, 2013). I think the best option for VPN access for the employees to gain remote access is the Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol because it is more accepted by multiple vendors, able to “connect two routers, a router and a remote access server, or a client and a remote access server” (Dean, 2010). When using a remote access VPN your employees can access data through a secure connection. According to Tyson & Crawford (2011), “there are two components required in a remote access VPN”. One is a NAS, a network access server, which could either, be a dedicated server or many applications on a shared server and the NAS is what your employees will be connecting to from the Internet. The other requirement for your employees to gain remote access is they need to have the appropriate software on their computer in which they will be using to access the data. If your employees are using their personal computers then they will need to install the required software to their computers. The software also manages encryption for the remote access, which is great for security measures. The connection your employees will have is secure also but the software has its’ own security measures when the data is being sent through the Internet.
Adding Servers 4 In conclusion, Windows Server 2008 has added features, stepped up security, more reliability, better support for remote clients, and better performance over all. Your business needs will be accomplished through the use of Windows 2008 Standard Edition. Incorporating your new servers into your existing network should be fairly easy to accomplish, though it can be difficult but if you need help Microsoft offers a step by step guide on how to incorporate them into your network. Also you can contact help desks on Microsoft and ask for assistance or ask questions. Last, for your employees to get remote access to data you need to follow those two simple steps; get a network access server and have your employees install the required software onto their computers.

...Building on Prior Success As a new employee with Ocper Inc, with no IT person in place, I sent up a new IT program meeting the needs of the company and the requests of the president of Ocper. Some of the changes I suggested were an upgrade their PC’s to an Ethernet network which will add more speed and stability to their network. I also proposed they upgrade their network to a scalable distributed backbone network centralized around a Cisco Small Business 300 Series Managed Switch SF300-24 (24 ports) at a cost of $224.99 (Networking Design, 2012). The one large item I am proposed to change in their network is the purchase of one (1) Dell Power Edge T310 Server at $3,643.00. This server would suffice what their work is now but it is also something they can grow into (Networking Design, 2012). The Power Edge T310 includes the following: Hard Drives 500GB 7.2K RPM SATA 3.5in Cabled Hard Drive plus one (1) 1TB 7.2K RPM SATA 3.5in Cabled Hard Drive, Power Supply, Non-Redundant, 375W, On-Board Dual Gigabit Network Adapter, DVD-ROM, Internal, 16XDVD, Keyboard and Optical Mouse, USB, Black, English, electronic System Documentation and Open Manage DVD Kit, Power Cord, NEMA 5-15P to C13, wall plug, 10 feet, RD1000, Int SATA Drive w/Cable (Purchase Media separately), Backup Exec 2012 Small Business Edition Agent for Windows 1 yr Maint, Media: QTY 2, Removable Hard Disk Cartridge for RD1000, 640GB Native, and Hardware Support (Networking Design, 2012). ...2. Status of HR in organizational ethics/compliance programs Corporate ethics programs typically involve many components and initiatives, and research has catalogued these elements (Berenbeim; Center and Weaver). Expectations for ethical behavior typically are communicated to employees via codes and policy documents, formal training programs, and messages from senior management. Ethics programs also often provide means for employees to communicate with management, sometimes anonymously through telephone “hotlines.” These communication devices are used for reporting real or perceived ethical or legal problems, to solicit advice and counseling, or both. Also common are procedures for monitoring behavior so as to reward ethical behavior and/or discipline unethical behavior. Empirical research suggests that HR staff are merely one among many categories of corporate staff who may be involved in managing ethics programs. One study of ethics programs in Fortune 500 service and industrial firms found that an HR officer ultimately was responsible for ethics/compliance management in 28% of responding firms (Weaver, Treviño, & Cochran, 1999b). But, just as many firms (28%) vested responsibility for ethics in legal positions (e.g., general counsel), while 16% placed responsibility in distinct ethics or compliance departments, and 11% in audit and control functions, with the remaining firms selecting from among positions, such as corporate secretary, public affairs, and corporate......

There's e-mail, web processing, instant messaging, voice mails, and a myriad of other means of communication that are constantly streamed to us daily. Dealing with the organization and management of information can be frustrating and make us want to pull our hair out, but nonetheless, it must be given serious attention. Businesses are driven by data, and the information derived from data is an extremely valuable asset in today's environment and most organizations are dependent on its availability and accuracy. The electronic age has brought new challenges in managing information that previously was non-existent prior to computers and the Internet. While technology has generated higher efficiency, access, and integrity with the newer ways to organize and manage information, it can be overwhelming. Managing data information has become a job in itself, yet it is an important one. In today's global economy, networks have created ways to rapidly transmit data. As a result managers must be able to obtain current data quickly in order to make informed and up to date decisions. ...Strayer University Week 10 Assignment 3: Business Intelligence and Data Warehouses CIS175008VA016-1154-001 Intro to Networking Professor Obi Ndubuisi June 14, 2015   For the company DesignIT, I would use a LAN type of network (for local-area network). This networks several computers, a mail (exchange) server, a database server and a file share server in one building and interconnects with each switch or backbone. I chose this for this small space because it is less than 100 square feet and is all within a single dwelling. This way the employees can all share their resources with one another, an intranet, database and printers. This network only needs a single modem with wireless capabilities and an optional access point located at the opposite end. I would recommend the wireless access-point to serve the conference room in case the client wants to set up teleconferences. We can even create an interface that when their computer finds the wireless network, a page would come up asking for their employee ID and password. This would also provide access for vendors and customers so they can have temporary access in order to have access to their files on Cloud or DropBox in order to contribute to DesignIT during their visit. Most businesses have these similar services and use ring topology or mesh topology. With ring topology there is an extra layer created, if one device fails you can pin-point the failure but the entire network would go down.  DesignIT would only......

Building on Prior Success

...Building on Prior Success By: Jessica Spiegel CIS 175- Intro to Networking Instructor: Ashiq Waheed May 29, 2012 I would have to say I would encourage the President to go ahead with the original set-up that I had suggested. That would be a client/server-based network. The advantage of a client/client/server-based network is that the data files that will be used by all of the users are stored on the one server. Which gives you a central point to setup permissions on the data files, and it will give a central point from which to back up all the data in case data loss should occur. I would recommend they switch to a twisted pair wiring because there are several advantages for the use of twisted pair cabling. It is very flexible to make it very easy to work with. It is also less expensive than coax cable. The reason why twisted pair cable has become so popular is because networking protocols and standards were designed to support twisted pair wiring. There are a few disadvantages such as the casing; the sheath around the twisted pair networking cabling that is relatively thin. It doesn’t have a second insulator like coax and it is a bit more susceptible to electromagnetic interference, and twisted pair is a bit more susceptible to eavesdropping. A virtual private network (VPN) is a private network that interconnects remote (and often geographically separate) networks through primarily public communication infrastructures such as the Internet. VPNs provide security......

Building on Prior Success

...Assignment 2: Building on Prior Success Prof. Anthony Stevens CIS 175 – Introduction to Networking May 26, 2012 A nеtwоrk operating system (NOS) is the software that runs on a server and enables the server to manage data, users, groups, security, applications, and other networking functions. The primary reason for using networks is to enable clients to communicate and share resources efficiently. Most networks rely on server that exceeds the minimum hardware requirements suggested by the software vendor. To determine the optimal hardware for your servers, be sure to ask the following questions: • What kinds of applications will run on the server? • How many clients will connect to the server? • How much storage space will each user need? • How much downtime, if any, is acceptable? • What can the organization afford? Out of these questions the first one is the most important. For example, use can purchase an inexpensive, low-end server that runs Linux adequately and suffices for resource sharing and simple application services. However, to perform more advanced functions and run resources-intensive applications on your network, you would need to invest in a server that has significantly more processing power and memory. Every application comes with different processor, RAM, and storage requirements. Explain what network operating system you would......

...alternative. This would be cost beneficial to for Ocper, Inc in saving money by using the twisted pair cable. It also uses less wiring and allows easier connections to the network. Conclusion It would be beneficial for Ocper, Inc to change their network system over to twisted pair cable because it is cheaper and faster. Twisted pair cable data transfer runs at speeds up to 1 GB per second. Coaxial cable falls short, with speeds ranging from 10 MB to 350 MB per second. If the company plans to add more computers to the network, this would benefit them in the long run.   References 1. Dean, T. (2010). CIS175: Network+ Guide to Networks, 2009 custom edition (5th ed.).
