Revision Practice Com 156 Wk. 5 Assignment

...Revision Practice COM 156 Wk. 5 Assignment There are several changes that can be made to this paper. The first change that can be made is in the first paragraph where it reads “and was thought to be a contender to earn an academy award nomination. Ultimately that honor was not bestowed on the film, “it could have read “with possibilities of an academy award nomination, but ultimately it did not receive this honor”. Another possible change could be where it reads “but it’s popularity and ability to elevate the comic book film, which is rarely associated with quality storytelling, remain” could read “It is a rare quality of storytelling that has the ability to elevate the comic book film’s popularity the way this film did.” Moving onto the second paragraph, the main change needed is to eliminate the run-on sentence that takes up over half of the paragraph. This sentence should read “Specifically the films writer and director, Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Heath Ledger earned an academy award for his role as the Joker in this movie; sadly it wasn’t till after he had passed away. The Joker was one of Heath’s last roles and an excellent performance it was.” In the third paragraph instead of again listing the actors, the writer could have written; “While in most comic book movies the actors are not given any moments to showcase their acting abilities, this particular list of actors, while impressive, where able to showcase while excelling in their roles as well.” The...

Learning Time Management

...Learning Time Management Learning Time Management Jennifer Simmons COM/156 9/1/2013 Linda Daley Time management is a skill that everyone is capable of mastering and yet few take the time to improve. This skill is a crucial part in becoming successful whether it is in completing school, getting everything done at home, or even just completing all the tasks assigned at work. All people are born with a sense of time management; some learn how to use it to aid in getting the most amounts of tasks completed with the least amount of stress possible and still finish with a quality product while others choose not to work on it or improve in any aspect. For those who struggle with time management, it can be really hard to know which techniques will help manage time better and which ones are just going to be a waste of time. According to Peter Bregman (2011) proper time management helps to visualize priorities so that they can be broken into manageable, digestible chunks so that time can be spent where it should be every day. Thankfully there is not guessing as to what to do to improve and there are quite a few proven skills that can be learned with a little practice. Four of the skills that can help manage time no matter where they are applied are; make a plan, maintain a lifestyle that provides the most energy, eliminate the unnecessary, and to reduce interruptions. One technique that is proven...

Tata Tea

...The Employee Buy out: Case of Tata Tea Dr Deepika M G, Faculty, Icfai Business School, Bangalore, India ABSTRACT The article discusses about the Employee Buy Out business model adopted by Tatas on their exit from plantation business in their southern plantation operations in Munnar district of Kerala in India. Tata Tea had sold off 17 tea estates in southern India to the company formed by its employees named Kanan Devan Hills Plantation Company Pvt. Ltd.(KDHPCL). In sharp contrast to the situation in the tea industry experiencing closures affecting thousands of employees, KDHPCL with 13,000 employees could not only recover within a year the loss of $ 24 million run up by Tata Tea, but could also register a post tax surplus of $ 50,000 as on March 31st 2006. However, when Tata Tea went onto implement a similar model in the North Indian Plantation Operations, it met with considerable resistance. The article discusses about the crisis that was facing the tea industry in India, the role played by Tatas in the formation of the KDHPCL and the challenges faced by the employees of South Indian Plantation Operations in accomplishing this unique business model. It also critically reviews the factors that are essential for the success of Employee Buy Out, by enumerating the factors that led to the success of EBO in southern operation of Tatas and its failure in their northern operations. INTRODUCTION In February 2007, Tata Tea, an INR 3500 crore beverages company, decided to divest...

...ork2012 - 2013 Catalog A Message from the President “Sullivan University is truly a unique and student success focused institution.” I have shared that statement with numerous groups and it simply summarizes my basic philosophy of what Sullivan is all about. When I say that Sullivan is “student success focused,” I feel as President that I owe a definition of this statement to all who are considering Sullivan University. First, Sullivan is unique among institutions of higher education with its innovative, career-first curriculum. You can earn a career diploma or certificate in a year or less and then accept employment while still being able to complete your associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree by attending during the day, evenings, weekends, or online. Business and industry do not expand or hire new employees only in May or June each year. Yet most institutions of higher education operate on a nine-month school year with almost everyone graduating in May. We remained focused on your success and education, and continue to offer our students the opportunity to begin classes or to graduate four times a year with our flexible, year-round full-time schedule of classes. If you really want to attend a school where your needs (your real needs) come first, consider Sullivan University. I believe we can help you exceed your expectations. Since words cannot fully describe the atmosphere at Sullivan University, please accept my personal invitation to visit and experience...
