...Fly fishing is a popular sport that many fishing enthusiasts tend to fall in love with the more time that they spend fishing. The thrill of catching a fish is an experience like no other because one gets to see his/her catch while it is still alive. The sense of accomplishment that comes with catching a fish is exhilarating. Many skills have to be incorporated while fishing with patience being the most important attribute. One must certainly know and understand how to cast a line in order to successfully catch a fish, as well as knowing the water source that he/she is fishing in. Knowledge of the best fishing spots in a certain body of water is essential to catching fish, and this knowledge is only obtained by experience. Much preparation is involved in the sport of fly fishing, including having the essential supplies such as bait, rod, reel, and fishing line, as well as the proper clothing for the weather conditions. Fly fishing is even more complicated than normal fishing, for instance the rod and reel for fly fishing is completely different than normal fishing poles, and fisherman must use different types of line to create the proper fly fishing line. Fly fishing differs from normal fishing because it is unique and challenging involving techniques on how to: cast the fishing line, create flies to use as bait, and locate the best possible water sources for catching the biggest fish. The key to properly casting a fly fishing line is to have the right timing. Having the......

...I walk into my grandparent’s house, and my grandma is usually either playing games on her laptop or cooking with my grandpa. They are amazing cooks. I visit with them all the time. I might as well just live at their house because I’m always there. My grandma isn’t a milk and cookies grandma. My grandma’s name is Sandy, well actually it’s Sandra but everyone just calls her Sandy. She is my dad’s mother. She is only in her early sixties but looks like she is only fifty. She looks and acts younger. She has short blonde hair and is around 5’5” and wears contacts most of the time. She has blue eyes but she sometimes wears green contacts and I tell her how I’m jealous of her blue eyes and she tells me that she’s jealous of my long eyelashes. She has worked at a bank all my life and at one point she was the president of the Collinsville Building and Loan, but now she works at Federal Community Bank in Collinsville. She is a very brilliant woman with a wide vocabulary. I love talking to her just because I love to hear the difference in the language use between her and me. She has a very wide vocabulary and I use a lot of slang terms. You can definitely see the difference in the generations. She is the kind of person that doesn’t judge a book by its cover. She gets to know someone first and even after that she doesn’t judge anybody. She tells me all the time that life is too short to have enemies so just be friends with everybody and if your personalities don’t click then find......

...boat from a friend. The boat is a camouflaged, flat bottom, twelve feet long; spray painted on one side is the name for the boat “Nekelia”. We get to the creek and Stephon dismounts the boat, I help by bringing the fishing poles, tackle boxes and my bag down to the bank. The familiar creek where we go is not too wide, covered on both sides by green pasture hills. We drift around curves with the moderate sway of the water. The day is clear blue sky with bright rays of light coming from the sun, and refreshing soft breeze enveloping our skin. Not far from here, you can hear the mooing from a group of robust, spotted cattle nibbling the grass. There are farmers getting tractors ready for work in the fields. I am sitting in the front of the boat reading a book, while Stephon is casting away his bait ready to catch another fish. He is standing at the back of the boat for a wide open cast. Yet his back is straight and at ease, because he is doing one of his favorite hobbies, facing me. His arms sway smoothly with every cast far away from the boat, enjoying the dynamic between the bait and the fish. In addition the water is so clear, which makes it simple to spot the fish leaping for the bait. After a while I put down the book, and decide to fish as well. The fishing pole is an Ugly Stik model, six and a half feet long, equipped with a cork handle. My bait is a half ounce swim jig head; about five inches long, camouflaged green, purple and orange skirt, with a black and white......

Macquarie Dictionary ➢ Any form of play, amusement, etc. used for refreshment of body or mind. Collins Australian Pocket English Dictionary ➢ Simply defined, recreation refers to experiences and activities chosen and pursued by the individual in his/her free time; the basis being that the experience sought and activities pursued, in the real sense of the word, 're-creates' the individual so that he/she may be refreshed to enable him/her to resume daily obligations, whatever those may be. John Ap (1986) Recreation trends and implications for government. In R. Castle, D. Lewis & J. Mangan (eds) Work, Leisure and Technology. Melbourne, Longman Cheshire,167-83 ( p. 167). ➢ Recreation consists of an activity or experience, usually chosen voluntarily by the participant, either because of the immediate satisfaction to be derived from it, or because he perceives some personal or social values to be achieved by it. It is carried on in leisure time, and has no work connotations, such as study for promotion in a job. It is usually enjoyable and when it is carried on as part of organized or community services, it is designed to meet constructive and socially worthwhile goals of the individual participant, the group and society at large. ...Let's Go Fishing Iris Ritenour Com/155 November 30, 2013 Erin Fuller Let's Go Fishing It is always an exciting time when going deep sea fishing. Some people regard fishing as an old man’s sport. People have been captivated by the sea since the beginning of time, and of catching fish since around the same time. The sport has grown hugely in many ways, yet has stayed the same in many aspects. Imagine looking at the ocean as a slick plate of glass when it is calm, or it can be a very dangerous place if a storm decides to get it riled up. Fly fishing, on the other hand can be a relaxing adventure. Although it takes skill to cast a fly rod, a sharp eye to find the fish, a special hand to convince the fish to take the feathery lure, and quite possibly some fast reflexes to hook the fish, if you get that window of opportunity. If you do not get it right, you can watch your fish majestically swim away as he spits out the feathery hook, and you reel the line in as gracefully as you cast it out. Although deep sea fishing and fly fishing are similar as sports, they differ concerning equipment, locations, and types of fish. For those of you interested in fishing, but are not so lucky at it, there are some guidelines you may want to try. The first important thing you should know is that the equipment you use is very important. “You would not want to “bring a knife to a gunfight,” because it wouldn’t be prudent.” ("Fishing." 123HelpMe.com. 13 Nov......

...Entomotoxicology The process of decomposition begins immediately after death and the process can be divided into five stages: fresh, bloated, decay, post-decay and skeletal. Therefore, the availability of tissues and blood samples for toxicological analysis is dependent on the state of decomposition. There are cases where blood and tissue samples are not available or suitable for analysis, the fly larvae found on the cadaver can be used as an alternative toxicological specimen. Successful detection of substances has been accomplished by several extraction methods from maggots, pupae and adults of Diptera and even from the feces of beetles (Miller et al. 1994). Bourel et al. (2001) conducted a study which showed that morphine was detected on third larval instar maggots of Calliphora vicina Linnaeus (Diptera: Calliphoridae) fed with an artificial diet mixed with the drug. This shows that morphine was stored inside the cuticle of the maggots during their development. However, the detection of diethylpropion (Inebex) showed negative result in larvae of Chrysomya megacephala and Chrysomya putoria suggesting the rapid excretion of drugs (Alves et al.2008). Insect succession Insect succession is the wave or pattern of insects’ colonization on dead remains and is also affected by the surrounding environment. Invasion of a body by insects and other arthropods occurs soon after death (Anderson and Goff, 2000). They are capable to arrive and colonized within minutes of the death......

... Elise Ashley Leyva I have chosen the article “A Normative Theory of Forgetting: Lessons from the Fruit Fly” I chose this article because the name was very interested to me, and I thought it would be very interesting. I also chose this article because it consisted of theories and experimental conditionings of why we forget thing. This caught my attention because for many, many years I have always wondered why I would forget things. This raised a concern and the urgency to learn this within this lesson because it would occur very frequently to me. As I was growing up, and even throughout my adult hood people close to me also noticed this, and I never know why, until reading more about this issue and how it affect other people as well and why it happens. This article conducted of a conditioning experience that featured a Drosophila melanogaster also known as a fruit flies. Conducting this experience it revealed that the cause underlying forgetting is an active process which is modulate by the learning task and not by internal constraints of memory system. This fly has been the favorite organism for biological research, initially in the field of genetics and now for the fundamental problems in biology freedom the fields of ecology and neurobiology. This was done by taking a group of fruit flies and placing them into a tube for conditioning, of course. This group was exposed to a specific odor and the exposer was paired with an......

...Time is a Healer In Katherine Mansfield’s short story “The Fly”, she tells of a man and his struggle with the loss of his son. Mr. Woodifield is an older gentleman whom since he had a stroke his family keeps him boxed up in his home every day of the week, expect for Tuesdays. Mr. Woodifield and the boss talk about the new decorations of the boss’s office, there is something though that Mr. Woodifield struggles to remember that he wanted to tell the boss. After Mr. Woodifield leaves the boss tells his office messenger that “I’ll see nobody for half an hour.” He begins to attempt to grieve over the loss of his son the way he used to be able to. He finds himself unable to weep and he finds himself easily distracted by a simple fly. ...single black fly sat on the label of his greasy jacket. A short time later, there were already two. They ran up to him and crawled into his face, but he did not seem to notice. More flies were added, crawled over his nose, his cheeks, his lips, but he showed no reaction. It was not long, and they crept into his nostrils, in his eye and in his ears. They crawled out purely and again and showed it in no hurry. They inspected it really thoroughly, and he let it happen impassively. After some time had gathered two dozen flies on him, they now crawled into his sleeves and into the gaps between the neck and shirt collar. Walker came along the road and went between us through. They took no notice of him. As it dawned, the number of flies had grown to several hundred. I stood up and went home. When I again the next day I approached my place on the bench, hit me in the smell of vinegar from afar contrary. The man in the hat was already sitting opposite on the bench. The flies had almost completely taken possession of him. They ran all over him around, sometimes flew in small groups and then sat down again. He just sat there and looked like the day before indifferent through me. The fly took the occasion to be a little bolder. Increasingly, they were crawling now in his ears and in his nose. His face betrayed not even a twitch, as tentatively crawled the first maggots on his forehead. Dense clouds of flies buzzed around him now. His clothes were completely covered with flies.......

...the fishes in the sea as well. As technology has become more and more advanced that has made our fishing more efficient meaning that it has become easier for us to catch more fish. This has and will impact human lives in a very critical way. Along with other of Earth’s resources we have to learn and take care of our environment to keep it in a Holocene state for a very long time. Earth’s resource limited but shared resources have led to much competition among humans. The relationship between humans and fish has evolved over the years along with the new developed technological advancements in fishing. There are many examples around the globe that relationship with fish has changed because of technology. In 1992 the collapse of the Newfoundland Grand Banks Cod fishery in Canada was mainly caused by the technological advancements made in fishing. The Newfoundland Grand Banks was once renowned as the world’s most productive fishing grounds. The first European explorers described the waters as being so full, one just had to lower a basket into the water and it would come up filled with cod. Up to the 1950s the bounty of the Grand Banks was enough to supply local small-scale fishing, as well as feed millions of harp seals. But this happy picture was not to last. The Grand Banks fishery was destroyed by technological advances in fishing techniques in the 1950s and 60s. Small artisan fishing boats found themselves competing with trawlers modeled on the factory whaling ships that......

...As an avid shore fisherman who enjoys fishing, I have the unique opportunity to choose between two similar, but two very different, types of fishing. These two types of fishing are fresh water fishing and salt water fishing. With that being said, in the state where I reside, there are two distinct attitudes towards fishing. There are those anglers who prefer fresh water fishing, and there are those anglers who prefer salt water fishing. Both types of fishing ultimately deal with utilizing a fishing pole, fishing line and bait (or a fishing lure) to catch fish. However, in the same way they are similar; in contrast, they are both very much different. In a fresh water lake, the water rises with the amount of rainfall and falls due to evaporation and drainage; on the other hand, ocean the water rises and falls with the lunar tide. Unlike fresh water fishing, where an angler would use “lighter” fishing tackle due to catching smaller fish, salt water fishing requires much “heavier” tackle due to the vast difference in size from fresh water fish to salt water fish. For instance, the State record for a fresh water largemouth bass caught in a lake is 10 pounds 14 ounces; whereas, a Great White shark can weigh more then a car! So as you can see, although fresh water fishing and salt water fishing are similar, in some ways, they are very much different. Works Cited Houch, R. (September 3, 2013). NJ Saltwater Fisherman.
